Maplewood Baptist Church MBC January 2014 Volume 22, No. 1 Rev. Jimmy Lancaster, Pastor Unclaimed Christmas Cheer Please take a moment to check and see if there are any Christmas Cards on the table in the Narthex for your family. Someone has something special they want to share with YOU! Wednesday Nights @ Maplewood On Wednesday, Jan 8th, we will resume our regular Wednesday night schedule – but we will start a little earlier over these winter months. We’ll continue our “C.A.R.E. ministry emphasis.” So, come and enjoy a simple & delicious meal at 5:30 pm, followed by a time of prayer/devotional thought and C.A.R.E. Ministry at 6:15 pm in our Fellowship Hall. If you’ve never been able to come, please consider joining us on Wednesday evenings. It’s a wonderful time to fellowship around the tables and share together in caring for the needs of the church and community! This will allow Mark & Debby to practice with our Adult Choir at 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary. Observance of the Lord’s Supper This Sunday (Jan 5th), we will take the opportunity to be reminded of Christ’s LOVE and GRACE through the observance of the Lord’s Supper. Let’s start the “NEW YEAR” with a renewed desire to reflect His likeness and character & to serve Him together in 2014! Calling All Cooks! We are looking for teams of people willing to prepare and to serve our Wednesday night meals on a rotation basis. Your team would decide which mission or ministry would benefit from the proceeds of your meal. If you are interested, please indicate your willingness to serve by contacting Jimmy or calling the church office.

Church Council Meeting

Sunday - January 5th at 4:00 pm

As we begin a NEW YEAR, our Ministry Leaders, Staff and Committee Chairpersons are encouraged to come to our upcoming meeting planned for THIS Sunday (Jan. 5th) at 4 pm. It is vital that we prepare for the upcoming months of ministry and plan for special seasonal services like EASTER and opportunities like our SUMMER CAMPS.

2014 Offering Envelopes

Please remember to pick up your 2014 Offering Envelopes on the table in the hallway outside the Adult III classroom. If you do not find yours, please contact Jodi in the church office, so a box can be assigned to you and your family. Please recycle any old envelopes by placing them in the RECYCLING BOX under the table.

Thank you for your sacrificial and generous support of the work of God’s Kingdom.

Christmas Missions Offering

foreign missionaries have presented the

Gospel to more than 1.4 million individuals, baptized more than 266,451 new believers, started more than 24,073

This year, you gave

$4,444.00 for Lottie Moon and $1,050.00 for Global Missions.

Thank you for giving sacrificially...it honors

the Lord and CHANGES LIVES!!

YCM’s SOUPER BOWL of CARING

New Year's Prayer

Lord, this year I want to change, and I've said that in the past. But now my prayer is different

'cause I understand at last.

I wanted my own way before, I ignored your loving plans.

But now I'm putting everything into your nail-scarred hands.

I promise to obey you out of gratitude and love. I won't be giving orders to my Father up above.

I finally realize the truth and so I've changed my prayer.

The safest place for me to be is in your gentle care.

Please be my shepherd, Jesus, that's all I ask of you.

In good times and in bad this year, Take my hand and lead me through.
