Super-Concentrator

Quick – Efficient – Reliable

Exclusive to H2O Innovation, the Super-Concentrator allows you to produce high quality syrup in less time.

Following your reverse osmosis system, the Super-Concentrator concentrates maple water to up to 40° Brix. Such a high concentration level does not require flue pans. Therefore your conventional evaporator can be replaced by our finishing rig, specific to the Super-Concentrator.

The use of the Super-Concentrator reduces considerably the quantity of maple water to be boiled. This lessens your fuel consumption.

Interesting fact :- To produce 1 gal. of syrup, 0.1 gallon of oil is sufficient. For more information on the finishing rig, see p.20

Standard cleaning method1. Fill the wash tank with permeate

2. Add 350ml of Ultra Bio-Membrane or 700ml of Bio-Membrane for each 100 litres of permeate in the wash tank. You can also adjust the solution to a pH of 12.

3. Launch the wash cycle. The flow must be high in order to create erosion on the surface of the membrane.

4. Re-circulate the cleaning solution until the temperature reaches a maximum of 45°C / 113°F.

5. Rinse the system for 15 minutes or until the conductivity is below 10 micro siemens.

6. Measure the performance of the membrane. If the membrane’s performance is unsatisfactory, redo a wash cycle using Ultra Bio-membrane or Bio-Membrane.

We recommend that you have your membranes washed by professionals once a year. Contact your H2O Innovation representative for more information on professional washes.

Membrane cleaning Longevity – Performance – Essential

To ensure the performance of your reverse osmosis system, the membrane filtration specialists at H2O Innovation recommend regular membrane washes. Daily rinces should be performed during high production periods.

If the membrane loses 20% or more of its pressure some of the fouling will be irreversible. Thus the importance of regular washes.

olLike your pans, your reverse osmosis system and your membranes, your spouts need a good cleaning once the season is over. To properly disinfect your spouts and tubing network, H2O Innovation recommends the use of isopropylic alcohol at 70% to delay bacteria growth.

Isopropylic alcohol stays liquid or turns into its gas form depending on the temperature. In either case, the alcohol remains active on a long period of time hence our recommendation to rinse your collection network before the beginning of the season.

*Make sure the use of isopropylic alcohol is permitted in your state.

Better desinfection = Better flow The H2O Innovation patented Tee plug allows a thorough disinfection during the off season. Thanks to its longer disinfection chamber, the longest on the market right now, the inside and outside of the spout gets cleaned. And since the alcohol re-mains trapped in the spout and Tee plug throughout the off season, your spouts will be uncommonly clean when it is time to tap again.

By using different sensors installed throughout your sugarbush, you can quickly find out where leaks are, even the smallest ones, and act promptly to maintain a high vacuum level at the tap.

This continuous monitoring is made possible by the use of vacuum and tank sensors. Each second, these sensors send information to your laptop, tablet or smartphone so you can keep a constant eye on your installations, wherever you are.

The Smartrek application allows you to:

The H2O-Smartrek system collects and analyses data and represents an efficient solution to improve the vacuum level of your collection system. With H2O-Smartrek you can:

1. Confirm the tapping technique of your staff

2. Find out where the leaks are and promptly correct them 3. Establish a daily agenda of leak correction during the production season 4. Reduce the number of employees required to correct leaks and monitor your collection network.

A profitable investment? Absolutely!

The H2O-Smartrek system costs $1 to $1,50 per tap to install. In average, the total installation cost, including the automatisation, is $1,25 per tap.

According to the Procter Center, a vacuum level increase of 1’’ of mercury per tap should produce, on average, an extra 2,3 litres of maple water.

Knowing this, if a producer obtains an average of 2’’ of mercury per tap, he can ex-pect a water increase of 4,55 litres per tap. If the water is at 2° Brix, he then obtains a 0,30 lbs gain per tap. Calculated at the price of $2,75/lbs of syrup this represents a $0,83 increase per tap, per year.

Excluding the savings made on labor, the investment made for the purchase of the H2O-Smartrek system is profitable within a year and a half.
