New Year’s Greeting from the President
Dear Club Canada members
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy New
Year. 2014 was a fun-filled, wonderful year and I hope you enjoyed all the
wonderful activities and opportunities Club Canada Thailand had offered.
Work has taken my family to Myanmar, but I will be visiting Bangkok on a
regular basis and am pleased to report that I will be able to serve out my
term with the kind assistance of fellow Board members.
I look forward to seeing you all at CCT's exciting Snowball Gala on March
14. For tickets, please contact [email protected].
Again, on behalf of Club Canada I would like to wish each and every one of
you a very healthy, happy and laughter filled 2015.

3 CCT Members Honour Remembrance Day
CCT President Kirstin Lamoureux
and club members presented a
wreath during a Remembrance Day
ceremony at the Official Residence
of Canadian Ambassador Philip
Calvert in November.
Participants observed a few minutes
of silence in memory of all who lost
their lives in armed conflicts. 2014
marked the 100th anniversary of the
beginning of the First World War.

WELCOME BACK COFFEE MORNING
CCT Donates to Sang Tawan Children’s Home
Club Canada Thailand has been a long-term
supporter of the Sang Tawan Children’s Home,
which provides education and shelter to
abandoned children, all in a home-like settting.
In the past, in addition to donations for the
Home’s operating expenses, CCT also invited
the children to our club’s annual Christmas
luncheon. This year, CCT decided to donate
B10,000 to Sang Tawan so the
children could enjoy a holiday
shopping trip and purchase
clothing and other items they
need.
For more information about this
CCT Charity project, please
contact Delphine at:
Treats Kids to Holiday Shopping Trip
Chantal Meagher, Honorary Chair of Club
Canada Thailand and wife of Canadian
Ambassador Philip Calvert, graciously
hosted an Oct. 1 Welcome Back Coffee for
CCT members at the Official Residence.
Guests greeted friends, met new members,
and enjoyed a wonderful array of tasty treats,
including maple leaf-shaped cookies baked
by Julie Lestage.
5
CCT members and spouses met friends Oct. 25 at the Bourbon Street restaurant for “Mingle
Night”. Everyone enjoyed happy hour cocktails and a dinner of delightful Cajun cuisine.

10 Lunch Bunch Highlights
The Garden We had the pleasure of discovering a Canadian
“connexion” as Chef Autumn McTaggart welcomed
the CCT Lunch Bunch with a special complimentary
dish; homemade poutine! The group greatly enjoyed
the surprise and had a marvellous time catching up
with friends after a couple months hiatus over the
summer. The amazing and serene gardens were the
perfect setting to initiate our monthly rendezvous.
MOJOs
Café and Bar "Good food and even
better company was spread
around our extended table at
the October Lunch Bunch.
Conversation easily flowed
and smiles flourished.
Plenty of leisurely time to
share news and current
events in the lives of our
CCT expats!"

Introducing a new variation to CCT’s monthly luncheon. In March we will meet up at the Maison
Blanche restaurant to experiment with a: "Let's Speak French!" Lunch Bunch.” We have
plenty of French speakers in CCT, so let’s get together and parlons français! Everyone is
welcome. Even if you speak little or no French, please come and enjoy the French cuisine and
learn new phrases just by listening to members who are fluent.

Gianni's Italian Restaurant 34/1 Soi Tonson, Ploenchit Road

Elegant Italian dining. Great atmosphere
and service, and excellent, authentic
Italian cuisine. We will try to book the
private dining room (since, ahem, we
may be happily louder than the business
diners that frequent this popular eatery).
Wednesday Feb. 11:
Please RSVP at least two days
before the luncheon by contacting

12 Every once in a while, we have a whim to take in a
movie matinee, enjoy a Meet & Mingle Evening out, or
just fill a free day with an unscheduled, fun and
interesting activity: Gallery Visit, Bike Tour,
What-Have-You.
An email invitation is sent out. We meet up and
have fun. So watch your inbox for occasional Pop-Up
events from the CCT Actitivites Team (Suzaane Rush,

If you would like to talk to someone who has ‘been there’ I would be happy to lend you my Supportive & Listening Ear. I am not a professional or counsellor. I am just someone who has gone through a separation while in Bangkok and would like to offer you my support, or just listen to you, whatever you might need. And do not worry – we would meet one-on-one and everything would be strictly 100% confidential. During my own experience, I found that there are many of us women in Bangkok facing difficulties alone. And because of that, I have become a Supportive & Listening Ear for a number of women over the past several years. So please do not sit at home alone, being shy or embarrassed, or trying to cope on your own.
