Albert Wright, Master Level Trainer, with more than 20 years of experience in the child care industry, has presented at TAEYC and was awarded Trainer of the Year 2013 by Collin County Association for the Education of Young Children (CCAEYC) for his Bully Buster training. Albert’s trainings are full of energy and excitement!

Interest Session 1 Choices 9:45 AM - 11:15 AM

1. The 10 Principles of Caregiving for Infants and Toddlers, Pam Briggs, MA, Professor at MCC, TECPDS Master Registered TrainerThis session will focus on principles, practices and curriculum as it relates to a philosophy of respect. The philosophy corresponds to NAEYC’s award-winning Developmentally Appropriate Practice book, an essential resource for the early child care field. 2. Using the Touchpoints Approach to Improve Relationships, Kathy Philyaw, TECPDS Registered Trainer and Paula Layton Barnes, MS, TECPDS Master Registered Trainer. Both are with the Waco Touchpoints Coalition Training Team.Based on the research of Dr. T. Berry Brazelton, this session will provide an overview of how the Touchpoints Approach has transformed early care and education programs, families, health care, and public service systems across the world. Leave with an exciting challenge to embrace Touch-points and improve relationships with children, families, and colleagues.

3. Bully Busters, Albert Wright, B.S., TECPDS Master Trainer Bullying is a hot topic and a problem these days. No one wants to be afraid to come to school or be made fun of. This training will help your facility be on the cutting-edge of training. Learn how to help children cope with bullying and help them feel safe and talk about it. Learn how to deal with the offender and effectively talk with their parents to resolve this cruel behavior.

4. Director’s Track: Partnering with Parents and Developing Family & Community Relationships, Gloria Mansfield, M.Ed. Learn strategies to effectively partner with parents for success at home & school. Build strong parent/teacher relationships and make a positive impact on children’s social development.

1. Inside-Outside-Upside Down: Connecting Inside to Outside Learning, Kathy Philyaw, TECPDS Registered Trainer and Director of Little Cougar, Inc. Learn to use inside equipment to build connections & interest in outdoor play. Participants will learn management techniques to plan outside enrichment experiences, and understand their role in reducing obesity in young children.

2. Making Connections Without Plugging in ~ Helping School Aged Children Build Real-World Relationships, Paula Layton Barnes, MS, TECPDS Master Registered Trainer Difficulties, tattling, inappropriate humor, lack of empathy and kindness, and making social connections are all issues that children seem to struggle with. This session will help you to encourage children to “unplug” from technology in order to build relationships and increase the use of acceptable social skills.

4. Director’s Track: Professionalism, Providing Exceptional Customer Service, Gloria Mansfield, M.Ed. Taking customers for granted can result in a loss of business. Learn the 10 commandments of customer service and provide the WOW Factor to all of your customers: parents, children, and staff.

1. That’s Not Fair! How to Reason with Children and Create a Classroom Climate of Respect, Janie Hilliard, M.Ed., Program Director/Professor MCCThe goal of this presentation is to explore the link between emerging notions of fairness and developmentally appropriate practices. This presentation will focus on how children learn about fairness, how adults can facilitate conversations about fair treatment of others, and how teachers can create a classroom culture that fosters positive communication and relationships with young children.

2. Making the Most of Musical Moments, Joyce Nuner, Ph.D., Assoc. Professor Baylor University Music is a powerful tool that can be used with young children to calm, to stimulate, to inspire creativity, and to build relationships. This session will explore musical experiences that promote social-emotional development and executive functioning skills such as mental flexibility, impulse control, and working memory.

3. iCook Increasing Children’s Opportunities in the Kitchen and Nutritional Health at School, Danielle Y. Hairston-Green, MA, Program Specialist Prairie View A&M University Experience three ways to promote healthy habits in children. Obtain a clear understanding of your role as it relates to student’s health. Learn three ways to partner with parents to combat childhood obesity.

4. Director’s Track: Stages of Teacher Development, Jackie Taylor, MS, Program – Director of TAEYC and the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood TEXAS® project, & TECPDS Master Regis-tered Trainer This workshop will introduce you to the stages of development we all go through in our profes-sional roles. Learn strategies to support both teachers and administrators at each stage of develop-ment. Resources on professional development opportunities will be provided including informa-tion on the T.E.A.C.H. ® TEXAS Scholarship Project.

Training Hours and CEUsSix hours of in-service training are included in the $30 registration fee. Six CEUs will be given for an additional charge of $10 per person if desired; please note your request for CEUs in the space provided on the registration form.
