    Pastor’s Reflection YOUR HEART TODAY

     Lord, grant me courage Lord, grant me strength Grant me compassion That I may be your heart today.   ‐Your Heart Today, Fr. Manoling Francisco, SJ  

    Is there something more?  We go to mass, do our obliga ons, and give our contribu ons.  Is this it?  Is this what being a Catholic is all about and nothing more?  If so, is our heart at ease now or is it s ll longing for more?  This Lent, as a community let us come for a moment of prayer and discernment.  Together let us reflect on where God is leading us.  At the resurrec on, Christ told his disciples, “Go…”.  Where is this Christ invi ng us to go and experience the “MORE” our hearts and souls are longing for.  Three evenings star ng April 1st un l April 3rd for just an hour each night (7:00 to 8:00 pm) with the Blessed Sacrament exposed, let us come to pray, listen to reflec ons, enjoy silence, and be with the Lord—allowing Him to guide us to a life that can quench our yearning for MORE by becoming His HEART today in our world.     FOR MINISTRY: PRAYER TREE: A ministry of people who pray specifically for those who are ill. Please no fy the parish office if you or a member of your family are in, or going into, the hospital.  

    HELPING HANDS: Call Pat Lesniak: 682‐9296. Helping Hands provides meals in  me of need, such as funeral recep ons, illness or births.

    LENTEN SOUP SUPPERS

    Our next Lenten Soup Supper will be Thursday, April 4, at 6:00 p.m. in the Church Hall.  Bring a bowl and spoon and enjoy 2 great soups.  This week’s theme is “When did we see you hungry?”  The Presenter will be Anne Kurylo from the Family Shelter Meals and Outreach Ministry.  Supper begins at 6:00p.m.; the program is from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. 

    40 CANS FOR LENT PROGRAM

    The 40 Cans for 40 Days program sponsored by the Knights of Columbus con nues.  From now and un l Good Friday (April 19), receptacles will remain in the Church, Parish Office and each classroom of the school for collec on.  Thank you for par cipa ng in the program.  It will make a posi ve impact in our community during Lent.  St. Agnes Church Annual Blood Drive

    Parish News and Activities

    The next mee ng of the St. Agnes Re red Seniors will be on Tuesday, April 9.  we will be mee ng on the SECOND Tuesday of April at 11 a.m. in the Church Hall.  This will be a catered luncheon from Taqueria Autlan.  The menu will feature Carnitas and Chicken Tamales.  The cost is $12.50 per person, and the deadline for payment is April 3.  For more details, pick up a flyer at the Welcome Table a er Mass, or from the church office during the week.  You may also call Mary Barton at 925‐676‐8460.  

    FRIDAY FISH FRIES DURING LENT

    During the Lenten season, the St. Agnes Knights of Columbus will be hos ng Friday Night Fish Fry.  Please come out early and enjoy a fish dinner before you a end the Sta ons of the Cross program held in the church at 7:00 p.m.

    March 31st Second Collec on  

    This weekend a second collec on will be held for St. Vincent de Paul.  The funds collected are used to help fellow parishioners and other local individuals.  Over a recent 6‐month period, St Agnes' SVDP has been able to help 1,362 low income and homeless with shelter, food, clothes, gas, transporta on, u li es and storage bills.  Assistance given is held confiden al.  Please be generous and help us to con nue helping others. 

    "JUST FAITH CHANGES PEOPLE AND THOSE PEOPLE CHANGE THE WORLD”

    A new Just Faith class will begin on May 2 in the ministry center at St Agnes.  The Just Faith module will study and explore the issue of migra on from the perspec ve of Catholic social teachings. Jesus told us to welcome the stranger.  How do we do this?  Please come to an informa onal mee ng on April 10th in the Ministry Center at 7 P.M.     School News

    SCHOOL DINE‐OUT APRIL 3

    We at St. Agnes School want to thank all the parishioners for suppor ng our monthly dine outs. Thanks to your par cipa on, the school made $194 at the Yalla Dine Out in March.    Our next Dine Out on April 3rd will be at the Old Spaghe  Factory in Todos Santos Plaza between 12 pm and 9 pm (Dine in Only), and for dessert Cream Ice Cream just around the corner in Todos Santos Plaza.  We have flyers for both at the Welcome Table or they can be found on the School Website.  

    When are Second Collec ons scheduled in 2019? Parishioners have asked us to highlight when we will have second collec ons in 2019. We hope this will answer your ques ons.   

    We have four categories of recurring second collec ons scheduled throughout the year.   

         ‐ On the second weekend of every month, a second collec on will be taken to help support the Building and Ground Improvements.  

         ‐A second collec on for Saint Vincent de Paul will be held on the fi h weekend of the month. There are normally four months in the year that have five weekends. This year SVdP Collec ons will be taken in March, June, September and December.   

         ‐Every three months we will have second collec ons to support Religions Educa on, and another for the support of our Diocesan Assessment.   

         ‐Occasionally, a second collec on may be held to support a community or worldwide event, such as a hurricane, earthquake, fire or another major disaster. We will advise the Parish a week or more before such a collec on is scheduled.    

    On‐line giving makes it easy to donate to second collec ons.   Simply log on to Faith Direct and ini ate the dona on for the second collec ons.    

    We will announce the recurring second collec ons in the Bulle n a week prior, and inform the congrega on at the Mass when a second collec on will be held.    

    Any ques ons regarding second collec ons may be directed to Marlene or Ed Lee.

    ST. VINCENT DE PAUL’S HOPEFUL OUTREACH HYGIENE KITS FOR THE HOMELESS

    A basket has been placed in the back of the church.  Items used in preparing hygiene kits for individuals living in their cars, in temporary shelters or on the street should be placed in the basket.  The items needed include:  washcloths, pocket‐sized  ssues, combs, feminine products, disposable razors, and travel‐sized shampoo, condi oner, body lo on, toothpaste and hand wipes.  Any of these items you place in the basket will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!
