1  About this Guide

IntroductionThis User’s Manual describes the usage and the functionality of the SQKPICreator. This tool canbe used to create events and KPI’s for the use in NQDI and Diversity.

The manual is divided into the following sections:

•  Introduction

•  Creating an event

•  Creating a KPI

Related Documentation•  For a brief description of NetQual see: ‘Brief Description - NetQual.pdf ’

NameThe name parameter can be chosen freely, although the name has to be unique.

Type

The type parameter defines, which kind of event should be created. The following options areavailable:

L3 : The generated event is a GSM or WCDMA layer 3 event. All possible layer 3 valuesare available for this event.

Ethereal: The generated event is handling ethereal trace messages.

Marker: The generated event is handling marker messages.

Protocol: The generated event is handling protocol messages.

Trace: The generated event is handling trace messages.

VersionThe version parameter is automatically set and will help converting old event files, if new featuresare added to the SQKPICreator.

ActiveThe active parameter specifies if the event will be written as a message (active) or just used forKPIs to be generated (inactive).

Type L3

Figure 2-4 Layer 3 Source parameters

Main Group

The main group contains a selection of the layer 3 base types (RR, GMM, RRC, and so on).

You have to choose an option before the other controls are activated.

Sub group: The sub group contains the sub types of the chosen item in the “Main group”.Chosen one of these types will further decrease the number of choices in the “Item” list.

Item: This parameter finally defines, which layer 3 item should be chosen as a source for this

event. After selecting the desired item, press the “Add” button to add the item to the list.Set item filter: After selecting a Main group, you have the possibility to decrease the number ofoptions in the “Item” list by entering the starting letters of your desired item into the “Set item filter”box. Pressing the “Clear filter” button will remove all the letters inside the box.

Item:

This parameter defines, which text should be looked up in the chosen category.

Type marker: The entered text must exactly match the marker, which is sent (including casesensitivity).

Type ethereal, trace, and protocol: The entered text can be found at any place inside the sentmessage.

If a text is entered using commas, the sent messages will be parsed for the first defined item, then

for the second one, and so on. The sent message must have the same order of words as definedin the text

Example 1Type: Marker

Entered Text: DIAL

1. Marker text occurred: DIALStatus: Successful

2. Marker text occurred: DialStatus: Failed

3. Marker text occurred: DIAL STARTStatus: Failed

Start Events

A selection of existing events, which will start this KPI.

Half t ime start event:

To adjust the written start time of a KPI it’s possible to define a half time event. If one of the startevents was found, then the KPI start time is defined as the half time between this one and thechosen half time event.

End EventIn this section the user chooses the end event(s) which will end the KPI.

Half time end event

Like the

Half time start event, the half time end event can be configured to change the end time of anevent.

Save first end event

Normally if an event is written at the test or session end (see Written on) the last occurred endevent time will be chosen for the end time of the KPI. If this box is checked, then the first occurredend event time will be chosen.

immediately : The KPI will be written, as soon as the end event occurs

sessionEnd : The KPI will be written at the end of the session

testEnd : The KPI will be written at the end of the test

Incomplete on

This parameter defines, when a KPI will be written as failed (incomplete).

sessionEnd: If the KPI is not complete at the end of a session, it will be marked as incomplete.

NewStart: If a valid start event of this KPI occurs a second time, than it will be marked asincomplete. Furthermore the new start event will be chosen for the start of a new KPI of this type.

Direction

With this parameter it is possible to choose the direction in which the start and end events mustoccur to be accepted for this KPI.

Data test type

With this parameter a data test type can be defined to only allow start and end events while thisspecific data test is running.

Possible data test types are:

•  Ping

•  PingTrace

•  FTP

•  HTTP
