This further illustrates the point that Manresa is an active and vi- brant Council….thanks to your continued support and participa- tion. We recently honored PGK Jim Neese at our 95 th Annual Dinner Dance at The Staaten. A great time was had by all, the food, the entertainment, and attendees all combined to create a wonderful night for all who attended. It was a fitting way to honor a great Past Grand Knight! I would like to thank all Committee members who were instrumental in the nights success. Personal thanks to Ed Thatcher DGK, Emcee James DeFrancesco for keeping the night and the speakers moving along, and for arranging the en- tertainment. Special thanks to Journal Chairmen Geoff Thatcher, Charles Cuomo as well as PGK Mike McHugh for their hard work on Journal ads. Thanks also to Connie DeFrancesco and my wife Cathy for handling the check in and flowers. COLUMBIETTES PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Fall has arrived! The air is crisp and hopefully everyone feels like they are back into a routine after the lazy days of summer. Our Installation of Officers went very well on September 13; it was nice to attend Mass with the Knights and to share the day with them. A special thank you to Connie DeFrancesco and Annette Fusaro for filling in for our officers who were unable to attend the Installation, and also to Janet Cuomo and Anna Marie Violetta for acting as our Guides for the ceremony. It was an honor to welcome both the Supreme President, Patricia Zellner and New York State Presi-dent Dee Wych to Manresa that day as well. The Knights will be having a Halloween Party on Saturday, October 24, $35 per person includes hot buffet, open bar, and DJ. Costumes are optional. This is always a great party -- please try to come and lend your support to our Knights! The SI Chapter Columbiettes will be having a Comedy Night on Friday, November 20 at the Looney Bin, $20 per per-son. This is the first fundraiser of the year for Chapter and it would be great to see a nice turnout from our auxilia-ry. Think about putting a table together of friends, all are welcome! I hope everyone is having success selling the C&B chance books! As requested, I have more that I will bring to our next meeting. Please remember to return any sold books and money at our next meeting to the C&B Committee Chairladies -- Annette Fusaro and Jean Gray. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, October 14 at 8pm. Please note that there will be a 1st Degree prior to the meeting. If you have anyone who is interested in joining us, please let me, MaryAnne Alessio or Nancy Curtin know, it would be great to get any new members in at this Degree. We will also be looking for volunteers to participate in a membership drive at St. Christopher 's Church and St. Charles Church in the coming weeks. The Knights will be rep-resented as well. If you attend Mass at either church, please consider volunteering to work the membership drive be-fore or after Mass. I will have firm dates at our meeting. Hope everyone has a great week and I look forward to seeing you at our meeting. Warm regards, Cathy Gonzalez President (917) 224-9055 [email protected]

Your Shield of Strength

As the economy begins to shake off a half-decade of turbulent times, the Knights of Columbus is celebrating 14 consecutive years of insurance business growth.

We’ve weathered the storm when others haven’t, because it’s not our first. We’ve weathered the storm when others couldn’t, because we know how to navigate. We’ve weathered the storm when others made costly mistakes, because we don’t take on unnecessary risk.

Our strength is undeniable. More members than ever before see it, and are using our shield to pro-tect their families. Are you?

If you need life insurance – and chances are you do – why would you look anywhere else? Let us be your shield.

Did you know that the Knights of Columbus is one of the largest life insurers in North America? The Knights of Colum-bus has surpassed $96 billion of insurance in force, and is a member of the Fortune 1000.

Did you know that the Knights of Columbus consistently earns the highest possible ratings for its ethical business practices and sound investment strategies?

A.M. Best, a global leader in the rating and analysis of insurance companies, has given the Knights of Columbus their highest financial strength rating (A++, Superior) for 39 consecutive years. There is simply no more highly rated insur-ance company in North American than your Knights of Columbus. And, last year, the Knights of Columbus was named a “World’s Most Ethical Company” by the Ethisphere Institute.

Did you know that providing financial benefits for members was the reason that Venerable Father Michael McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus?

Our founding charter from 1882 makes it clear, the Knights of Columbus’ primary goal is “to render financial aid to its members and the beneficiaries of members.”

Did you know that the Knights of Columbus offers a full, top-quality product line of life insurance, disability income in-surance, long-term care insurance, and retirement annuities?

We have products and solutions to fit your family’s needs and budgets. I am available to provide a complementary, comprehensive analysis to assess your situation.

Did you know that there are a number of products and services that you may be eligible for, just for being a Knight?

Whether it’s our family fraternal benefits program, our survivor benefits, or our Personal Planning workbook, there are a lot of ways that the Knights of Columbus Insurance program can benefit you and your family.

There might be quite a bit that you don’t know about Knights of Columbus Insurance and about the fraternal and fi-nancial benefits of your membership. Join the hundreds of thousands of your brother knights who use our shield as their protection.
