Background on Company

Manne & McCann (Pty) Ltd was a family business for

52 years in the Printing Industry until October 2000.

Six family members previously ran the company and

from October 2000 one of the family members and a

Board of Directors run it.

The company has identified the need to transform

with the rest of the business world and our country

and empower people from the previously

disadvantaged communities.

In line with the Company s objectives and the

requirements of the Employment Equity Act, this

Employment Equity plan will guide and support

the implementation of Affirmative Action at

1. Institutional Arrangement

The following are the key role players at Manne & McCann (Pty) Ltd

in respect of the Employment Equity Plan :

a. The Managing Director – eventually all performance agreements

of Line Management will include Equity targets that are the

ultimate responsibility of the Managing Director.

b. Directors and Line Management will be required to

drive implementation of employment equity through the

achievement of agreed targets. Basically line management

will incorporate affirmative action targets into their planning

and reporting cycles.

2. Communication, Awareness and Training

Communication, awareness and training in diversity Management

and related skills is important in the process.

All employees must be made aware and informed of the content

of and application of the employment Equity Act and be sensitised

with regard to employees and anti-discrimination issues. This could

be done through methods such as pamphlets, newsletters, workshops

and training sessions. Managers will be informed of their obligations

in terms of the Act and be offered training diversity Management and

related skills. Managers must understand that discrimination can be

direct, indirect or as a result of inaction or victimisation.

Consultation with all stakeholders on employment equity issues.

A consultative forum will be established to report back to employees

and management on Employment Equity.
