MANIFESTO

So, establishing that we understood our set of rule was the fist task. We began to understand that the people who have signed up this manifesto are all under the ruling that as graphic designers they are bound to use their skills and knowledge for the good and to make a change for the better in the world.

We had a presentation and this only spered us on to do loads more research and where we were going to go with our own manufesto.

We wanted to make our manifesto something interactive and that people could relate to.

We turned to social media sites and various other types of programmes that get used on a day-to-day basis like iTunes and Facebook.

As a group, we discussed the dangerous side to using the internet and signing up to specific things without reading terms and conditions.

We asked ourselves - Are we users, or are we participants?

We wanted to highlight the differences between using and participating. As a maker, the role should entail a much greater responsibility on the understanding of the privileges of being a user in congruence of being a maker in modern times.

We wanted to strengthen the awareness of using a resource. How much would an individual be comfortable in inputting to a service when weighed up against the reward of using it in return?

We looked at various websites including 123people.com and takethislollypop.com and found it a shock to how easy it is for the internet to find everything about you so easily but would it of been a shock if we had read the terms and conditions of what we have previously signed up to on the internet?

Conveyed through our manifesto, we aimed to produce a dynamic, interactive and original experience that educates the user of our manifesto with a catered response (an adaptive manifesto) that should in theory enlighten the individual in a way that would enable them to re-evaluate how themselves are being a user, using or being used (or in further contrast participating) in the contemporary relevant context of user agreements.

In the documentary, spoken as a group, is our manifesto.

I really liked the way we set out our filming. It was spare of the moment ideas that was coming out and genuine group work. We hadn’t added anything in after or changed anything to what our ideas were. We just let our minds explore each others ideas and ran with it.

After exporting my documentary I realised that the dimensions of the video was wrong and unfortunately my trial of After Effects had run out - lesson learnt, check everything!

Being a novice at making documentaries, I think I did okay although I know there’s room for a lot of practice.

Our website, found on my blog, worked out very well due to the genius at web design, Eloise!

We all had our little input in to the website, including a ‘agree’ and ‘disagree’ buttons, the animations and layout.

I really enjoyed, not only educating myself in what ‘I Agree’ stands for but I felt privileged working with the group I got paired with and educating others.
