Ready, aim, shoot! Are you looking for something free and fun to do this fall? This class offers a full service, outdoor range where archery basics and safety are taught. Bows, arrows, targets, and arm guards are provided.

Wednesday, November 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lorraine Hibbert, a certified instructor through the American Heart Association, leads this class for

those 14 and older. She has more than 20 years of experience as a registered nurse and has been a CPR instructor for the association for 10 years.

Course content includes CPR, first aid, the use of AED defibrillators and adult, child, and infant choking. The two-year certification fee is $20, payable by money order only to The H Factor. Note: This course is not for health care professionals. Upon completion of the course, certificates are emailed to participants, so please be prepared to provide an email address.

Reduce your car insurance by as much as 10 percent by completing AARP’s Safe Driving Course. Certificates are awarded after completing the course. The required course fee for AARP members is $15 and $20 for non-members. Checks are payable to AARP. This class cannot be used for ticket dismissal.

Texas Department of Family and Protective Services Presents: Becoming Foster and/or Adoptive Parents

Tuesday, November 12, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Children never outgrow the need for parents. This need is particularly great during adolescent and teen years. A representative with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, will present information and updates as well as address concerns and frequently asked questions to those wanting to learn about becoming a foster and/or adoptive parent.

NEW CLASS

Wednesdays, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.Join us for this fun sport that is a mix of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. This game is easy

for beginners and can be played by all ages. It is described as the fastest growing sport in the U.SA. The great thing about pickleball is that it is a non-contact sport that doesn’t require nearly as

much running or ground cover as tennis. It is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, and competitive game for experienced players.

Please come by the Center to join us for a game or two. We are sure that as soon as you pick

up a paddle, you will be hooked!

The turkeys are plump, pumpkins picked, baking commenced, and decorations prepared for the upcoming holiday season.

Join us as we gather to enjoy an Autumn Harvest luncheon celebration, featuring country and western vocalist John Reeves.

A traditional turkey and dressing dinner will be served with all the fixings, including mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, rolls, and pecan pie, along with unlimited iced tea and coffee.

Count your blessings and mark your calendar for a delightful time of food, fun, and fellowship! $8 per person is payable in advance when you register in the office. The deadline to purchase tickets is Friday, November 8.



All Trumped Up

Party Bridge Tournament

Thursday, February 6, at 10 a.m.

Sign-in and light breakfast begin at 9 a.m.

Choose a partner and play together throughout this All Trumped Up tournament. Players must call or come in person to register. Registration began on Thursday, October 3. This party bridge tournament is open to recreational bridge players, and is not recommended for rank beginners or serious duplicate bridge players.

Meet local bridge enthusiasts and spend an enjoyable day playing this fascinating game. A continental breakfast and lunch is provided to all registered participants.

Each pair is required to sign up together as a team. Pairs do not change partners during the tournament. A staff member times each round and totals the scores for a final tabulation and prizes.

A $24 per team suggested donation is requested and payable at the time of registration. Donations help defray the cost of breakfast, lunch, and prizes. Unfortunately, no refunds can be given for cancellations.

The Mangum-Howell Center’s Doss Advisory Council is sponsoring a hol-iday food drive, and we encourage you to participate in this worthwhile event for the community.

This special time of year presents the perfect opportunity to help those in need!

The food bank at Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM) will distribute donated nonperishable food such as canned vegetables, fruits, meats, juices, cereals, etc., to help those in need during the holiday season.

Beginning Friday, November 1 and continuing through the Center’s annual holiday luncheon scheduled for Tuesday, December 10, a collection barrel will be placed in the lobby. Your generous donation will ensure fewer families, children, and older adults will go to bed hungry this holiday season. May your generosity be a blessing to you and others!

Community and civic organizations can also reserve meeting rooms in Precinct 4’s Mangum-Howell Center and Doss Activity Building on a limited, space-available basis, at no cost, Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Fridays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. To check availability please call or go to the center.
