2.1 Inserting the batteriesPress the cover inwards and slide it in the direction of the arrow.

Place two AAA type batteries into the battery compartment, asshown.Replace the cover and click it firmly into place.3

2.2 Testing the remote controlThe remote control has been programmed to operate most Philipsdevices. Because the SRU 5120 may use different signals for each brandand even for different models of the same brand, it is advisable to testwhether your device responds to the SRU 5120.The example below (TV)instructs you how to do this.You can repeat the same steps for otherdevices (DVD player/recorder or VCR) which you want to operate usingthe SRU 5120.

Example of TV:Turn your TV on manually or use the original remote control.Tune tochannel 1.Press the TV key to select TV. The key lights up. If the key does not light up, check whether the batteries are

properly inserted (see 2.1 Inserting the batteries).

Check whether all the keys are working.For an overview of the keys and their functions see 3. Keys and functions. If the TV responds as it should to all of the key commands the SRU 5120

is ready for use.

TipIf the device does not respond at all or not to all of the key commands,follow the instructions under 2.3 Setting the remote control, or foronline setup go to: www.philips.com/urc.

2.3 Setting the remote controlThis is only necessary if your device does not respond to the SRU 5120.If that is the case, the SRU 5120 does not recognize the brand and/ormodel of your device and you need to program the remote control to doso.The example below (TV) instructs you how to do this.You can repeat the same steps for other devices (DVD player/ recorderor VCR) which you want to operate using the SRU 5120.

Example of TV:Turn on the TV manually or use the original remote control.Tune into channel 1.Look up the brand of your TV in the code list at the back of thismanual.A four-figure code is shown for each brand.Note the code for your brand.

Be careful! There are separate tables for TV, DVD and VCR.Make sure you use the codes from the correct table.

Press the TV key until it flashes twice and then remains lit.

Then enter the code noted in step 2 using the numeric keys.

The TV key now flashes twice. If the key flashes once for an extended period, the code has not

been entered properly or the wrong code has been entered. Startagain from step 2.

Press and hold the Stand-by key of the SRU 5120 until your TVswitches off (stand-by).Then release the key immediately.

The SRU 5120 is now set to operate your TV.

Check if you can operate all functions on your TV with the SRU 5120. If a key does not function properly, keep it pressed until it works.

Then release the key immediately.Repeat this for every key that does not work.

If the TV responds to all of the key commands, the SRU 5120 isready for use. Do not forget to note your code.

Keep the TV key pressed for 5 seconds to exit setup mode. When no key is pressed for 2 minutes or more the remote control will

exit setup mode automatically.

When setting the remote control for other devices, be sure to enterand exit setup mode with the appropriate mode key. DVD for DVDplayer/ recorder and VCR.

Full search setupIf your code does not work or if the brand of your device is notmentioned in the code list, you can try setting the remote control withfull search setup.

Press the mode key of the device you wish to set up the remotecontrol for. E.g. the TV key.Press the key until it flashes twice and then remains lit.

Press and hold the Stand-by key of the SRU 5120 until your TVswitches off (stand-by).Then release the key immediately.

The SRU 5120 is now set to operate your TV.

Full search setup takes about 5 minutes.

4.1 Adjusting device selection (Mode keys)The SRU 5120 is default set for operating TV or DVD.You can select the device you wish to operate with the TV and DVDkeys. Each mode key allows operation of one device only. If desired, youcan program the keys to select a different kind of device. For example, ifyou want to operate a second TV. In the following example you will seehow to configure the DVD key for a second TV.

Switch on the second TV.Press the DVD key to select DVD. The key lights up.

Then keep keys 1 and 6 on the SRU 5120 pressed simultaneously forthree seconds, until the DVD key lights up.

How do I set the remote control for combo devices (TV/VCR,TV/DVD, DVD/VCR, etc)?Some combo devices require you to set up two different source selectionkeys to control both parts of the combo device. For example, if you havea TV/DVD combo, you might need to set up one code under the TV keyto control the TV and a separate code under the DVD key to control theDVD.

The device I want to operate does not respond and the modekey (TV or DVD) does not flash when I press a key.Replace the old batteries with two new AAA batteries.

The device I want to operate does not respond but the modekey (TV or DVD) does flash when a key is pressed.Point the SRU 5120 at the device and make sure that there are noobstructions between the SRU 5120 and the device.

The SRU 5120 does not respond properly to commands.Try programming the SRU 5120 again.If the device still does not respond, call our helpline.

2.3 Impostazione del telecomandoLe seguenti istruzioni sono necessarie solo in caso di mancatacomunicazione tra il dispositivo e il modello SRU 5120. In questo caso iltelecomando SRU 5120 non riconosce la marca e/o il modello deldispositivo ed quindi necessario programmare il telecomando. Lesempioriportato di seguito (televisore) fornisce le informazioni necessarie ariguardo. possibile ripetere i passaggi indicati per far funzionare gli altridispositivi (lettore DVD/DVD recorder o VCR) tramite il modelloSRU 5120.

non stato inserito correttamente o errato. Ricominciare dalpassaggio 2.

2.2 Prueba del mando a distanciaEl mando a distancia est diseado para funcionar con la mayora dedispositivos Philips. Como es posible que el SRU 5120 utilice diferentesseales para cada marca e incluso para cada modelo dentro de la mismamarca, es recomendable probar si el dispositivo responde al SRU 5120.En el siguiente ejemplo se explica cmo hacerlo. Puede repetir losmismos pasos con otros dispositivos (reproductor de DVD o vdeo) quedesee manejar con el SRU 5120.

Ejemplo de televisor:Encienda el televisor de forma manual o con el mando a distanciaoriginal. Sintonice el canal 1.Pulse el botn TV para seleccionar TV. El botn se iluminar. Si el botn no se ilumina, compruebe que las pilas estn colocadas

correctamente (consulte la seccin 2.1 Colocacin de las pilas).

Compruebe si todos los botones funcionan.Para obtener una descripcin general de todos los botones y susfunciones, consulte la seccin 3. Botones y funciones. Si el televisor responde correctamente a todos los comandos de los

botones, el SRU 5120 est listo para usar.

2.3 Configuracin del mando a distanciaEstos pasos slo son necesarios si el dispositivo no responde al SRU5120. Si se da este caso, significa que el SRU 5120 no reconoce la marcay/o el modelo del dispositivo y es necesario programar el mando adistancia para que lo reconozca. En el siguiente ejemplo (TV) se explicacmo hacerlo. Puede repetir los mismos pasos con otros dispositivos quedesee manejar con el SRU 5120, como un reproductor de DVD o vdeo.

Ejemplo de televisor:Encienda el televisor de forma manual o con el mando a distanciaoriginal. Sintonice el canal 1.Busque la marca de su televisor en la lista de cdigos que hay al finalde este manual. Se muestra un cdigo de cuatro cifras para cadamarca.Anote el cdigo que corresponde a su marca.

Tenga cuidado. Hay tablas individuales para televisor, DVD y vdeo.Asegrese de que utiliza los cdigos de la tabla correcta.

4.1 Ajuste de la seleccin del dispositivo (botones de modo) El SRU 5120 est configurado de forma predeterminada para funcionarcon televisores, sintonizadores o DVD.
