HOW TO INSTALL AND ACCESS QLS FOR MAC

InstallationYou must be on the University network for this step. This can be via either a wired connection or the Eduroam Wi-Fi.

On your Desktop Finder menu click on Go then Applications

Find Self Service under Applications. Launch the Self Service application.



In the Self Service window, type in “QLS” in the Search box and the “Install QLS Remote Connection File and Micr…” icon will be presented.

Click the “Install” button to install the QLS settings file and Microsoft Remote application onto your device.

If the window below is displayed, just click the “Open” button.



When the installation is completed, quit the Self Service application.

Accessing QLS

Open Finder that is on your Dock, on the left hand pane, click on your name (this will have a picture of a house) and you will see a folder called “QLS”. Open this folder and there be a file called “IE on Cluster.rdp”.

Double click the “IE on Cluster.rdp” file. As this is the first run, the window below will be displayed; click on Not now button to continue.



The RemoteApp Connection window will be displayed next. If this do not happen, please re-launch “IE on Cluster.rdp” file again as this can happen on the initial launch.

Login to the “IE on Cluster” window using your MMU ID and password. Windows

Windows Internet Explorer will launch and MMU QLS Student Record System will be displayed. From here on, you will now be able to logon to the QLS system with your MMU ID and password again.

Accessing QLS off-site

In you wish to access QLS off-site, ensure that your device has internet connectivity first.

Then launch the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client application. See picture below for this application’s location.

Click the Connect button on the window below:



Then enter you MMU ID and password when prompted, see picture below:

Once this application has notified that it has successfully authenticated to MMU, follow the steps in the previous section to access QLS.



Logging into and working within QLS

Select QLS Live and you will be presented with the QLS log in screen. Login using your normal MMU credentials.

As there are three QLS Live servers, the top line view will be represented as either:

MMU LIVE v1.23 UPD8 – VENUS

MMU LIVE v1.23 UPD8 – NEPTUNE

MMU LIVE v1.23 UPD8 - MARS

QLS Academic Workgroups

There are two Academic QLS Workgroups:

MMU AcademicMMU Academic Direct Applications

MMU AcademicFor accessing student data related to: Admissions and Enrolments. Assessment for inputting assessment marks (Results Entry)

MMU Academic Direct Applications

In addition to MMU Academic - Admissions: for accessing student data related to PGR and PG Applications including viewing student documents submitted as part of a student application

Toggle between Academic Workgroups (where users are given access to more than one workgroup)

If you are a user with more than one workgroup , you will need to toggle between workgroups via ‘Options’ as indicated below (left hand side of the QLS screen). A dialogue box with a list of QLS workgroups will be presented, select and click update.

Select Options and then select Change Workgroup



A separate dialogue box will then open from which to select the required workgroup.

Use drop down to scroll to required workgroup and when highlighted, select Update.

Student Search within QLS

To search for a student within the Admissions (Applicant Search) or Enrolments (Student Search) areas, input MMU ID and select search.

The remaining student identification details will then be populated

Alternatively, you can search for student(s) by Surname. Input details in Surname field and select Search. An additional dialogue box will open detailing all students with the surname being searched for. Highlight required student and use select. The dialogue area will close and student details will be populated within the search area.



Navigating within QLS

Close – return to the student search page without the student details

< Back – return to the student search page with the student details displayed

Save – if user has rights to make amendments, using this option will save any changes made. (Note: if user does not have amendment rights, the save area will be greyed out)

Next > – will move the user to the next tab

MMU Academic Direct Applications Workgroup

Accessing Student Documents within Self Service

Select ‘Documents’ tab

Use the scroll bar at the bottom of the screen to move to the end of the documents area

Selecting Open will open the documents Word and/or Excel [note: .jpeg & .pdf need to be saved to the MAC desktop to be viewed]

Save Save as Save and open

Cancel will cause the above dialogue box to close and return to the QLS document screen

Alternatively, you can right click the document and open via the dialogue box shown below.
