Managing Your LearnersOn English My Way, it's only tutors who register to use the site. Learners do not need to register. Instead, tutors track learners' progress through the Manage Your Learners section of the site. To get started, from the homepage click one of the links highlighted below.

Add a New ClassThis is the area where you manage your learners and can monitor their progress. Let'simagine a new class has just started and we want to keep track of how they're doing. Let's getStarted by adding a new class. Click the button highlighted below.

Add a New Class cont.Creating a class is really easy. Just fill out this quick form with information about the class. Remember to give your class a distinctive name so that if you've got several running at once you don't forget which is which.

Add a New Class cont.If you've already added learners in the Manage Your Learners section then you can add them to your new class ticking the box next to their name. We're going to skip this step for now.

Click 'Add class' to finish creating the class.

You'll know that your class has save when you see the green tick at the top of your screen. Now let's go back to the main Manage Your Learners page.

Add a New Learner

The process for adding a new learner is very much like adding a new class. Let's start by clicking the Add new learner button highlighted below.

Add a New Learner cont.Once you've completed the initial assessment with the learner to check that they are suitable for the course, complete this quick form. Once you've filled out their details, click the drop down box at the bottom.

Add a New Learner cont.In the drop down list you should see the class we created earlier. Simply pick it from the class and then click the Add learner button.

Add a New Learner cont.There we go! We've created a new learner. There is a link to the learner questionnaire from this page, but let's worry about that later. Go back to the Manage Your Learners page.

Manage Your LearnersBack at the main page, let's have a look at the overview of the class we've just created. Click on the drop down box at the top of the page and select the class we've just created.

Manage Your Learners cont.Hey presto! There's the class that we've created and our brand new learner is there too. You can see the progress through the course and questionnaire via the progress bars beside his name. They're both at 0% right now, but we can change that. Click the view details button highlighted below.

Learner OverviewThere is a management page for each learner. Here we can update their questionnaire details and their progress through the course. Let's start with the questionnaire. Click the button highlighted below.

Learner QuestionnaireIf you're being funded to run the English My Way course then you need to fill this questionnaire out for each of your learners as it contains important information for our funders. Simply run through the questions with your learner and click the save button at the bottom of the page.The last section of the questionnaire should be completed once the learner has finished the course.

Learner Overview cont.Back on the learner's overview page, you can see the progress bar on the questionnaire is now partially filled up.

Let's fill out some progress on the course itself. Click the link highlighted below.

Tracking ProgressHere is an overview of the 'Getting Started 1' topic. As you can see, it's broken down into modules. To show that the learner has completed a module you tick the corresponding box. If they have completed all modules within the topic you can tick the box at the bottom to indicate this.

Tracking Progress cont.You can also make notes for each section. You don't have to do this but it may be useful, especially if you are sharing the teaching with other teachers, as they will be able to see your notes. Click the pencil symbol to make a note, and click it again to complete it. Once you're finished updating their progress, click the Save button.

Learner Overview cont.Now you can see that the progress bars are beginning to fill up for our learner. It's great to be able to see their progress topic by topic, but it's also really useful to see an overview too. Head back to the Manage Your Learners page.
