Williams, former president of the New York State Osteopathic Society, who died last night after a long illnesa. He was 74. Williams was president of the state group in 1905 and 1906 and was a member of the State Board of Medical Examiners from 1907 to 1924. He was a native of Indianapolis. His widow, a sister, Mrs. Auretta Drake of Bakersfield, Cal., and two bothers, Clifford of Redlands, Cal., and Donald of Kansas City, survive. Gowanda Police Nab inspect in Car Theft Gowanda police, seeking an auto- mobile stolen Friday near the De- pot Hotel, yesterday arrested Ray- mond Porter, 29, of 218 East Gen- esee St., as he drove into the vil- lage. Arraigned before Police Jus- tice Andrew J. Miissachio on charges of second degree grand larceny, Porter was committed to Little Valley Jail to await grand jury action. Telaak, told police. Four other burglaries also were investigated. Telaak said he had a premonition <$• of trouble Friday evening and took i tents of a cash register, estimated the 81,200 to his home instead of leaving It in the company safe. The intruders ransacked the un- locked safe and removed the con- at $65. Police said entry was made by forcing a rear door. A variety of loot was taken from the Jumbo Market, 349 Washing- ton St., by an athletic thief who climbed steel grating on a ground floor rear window to reach and smash a second floor window. In a communication filed with the city clerk's office, it was ex- plained that Jack's Jewelers made the loan on a Burroughs adding machine on October 24, 1M7. After reporting the matter to the Police Department's pawn division, it was found the machine had been stolen from the offices of the Buffalo Mu- nicipal Housing Authority. The company returned the ma- chine to the MHA and since has had no luck in recovering its $40. Executive Director Howard A. Kel- ly of the MHA explained "the law prohibits us tram using public funds for this particular purpose." Funeral Set for Leading Rochester Osteopath

Rochester, Feb. 28 CrD—Funeral services will be held Monday for Dr. Ralph H. Williams, former president of the New York State Osteopathic Society, who died last night after a long illnesa. He was 74.

Firm Asks City To Pay $40 Loan

An appeal to the "fair justice and mercy" of the Common Coun­cil's committee on finance was made yesterday by Jack's Jewelers * Loan Office, 474 William St., in a request for payment of a $40 loan.

In a communication filed with the city clerk's office, it was ex­plained that Jack's Jewelers made the loan on a Burroughs adding machine on October 24, 1M7. After reporting the matter to the Police Department's pawn division, it was found the machine had been stolen from the offices of the Buffalo Mu­nicipal Housing Authority.

The company returned the ma­chine to the MHA and since has had no luck in recovering its $40. Executive Director Howard A. Kel­ly of the MHA explained "the law prohibits us tram using public funds for this particular purpose."
