    Resume Writing

    Resumes should be brief and to the point

    Must be Error Free

    Make sure all information is accurate and captureswhat you have done in each job.

    Document your qualifications. Never assumeanything.

    Interview Dos

    Dress appropriately for the industry

    Arrive 10 minutes early. Know the exact time andlocation of your interview; know how long it takes toget there, park, and find a restroom to freshen up.

    Offer a firm handshake, make eye contact, and havefriendly expression when you are greeted by theinterviewer.

    Listen, to be sure you understand your interviewers

    name and the correct pronunciation.

    Even when your interviewer gives you a first and last

    name, address your interviewer by Mr. or Ms. and thelast name, until invited to do otherwise.

    Maintain good eye contact during the interview.

    Sit still in your seat; avoid fidgeting and slouching.

    Respond to questions and back up your statementsabout yourself with specific examples wheneverpossible.

    Use good grammar and good diction. Say yes,

    not yeah. Dont fill pauses with um, uh or ah.Dont punctuate sentences with you know, like,

    see or okay.

    Treat the interview seriously and show interest inthe employer and the opportunity presented andrespond to questions in a positive manner.

    Watch the tone of your voice.

    Make sure you understand the employers next step

    in the hiring process; know when and from whomyou should expect to hear next.

    Interview Donts

    Dont make excuses. Take responsibility for your

    decisions and your actions. Dont make negative comments about previous

    employers or supervisors (or others).

    Dont treat the interview casually, as if you are just

    shopping around or doing the interview for practice.This is insulting to the interviewer and theorganization.

    Dont give the impression you are only interested

    in salary. Dont act as though you would take any job or are

    desperate for employment.

    Dont chew gum or smell like smoke.

    Dont take cell phone calls during an interview. Ifyou carry a cell phone, turn it off during theinterview.

    What about AnsweringQuestions?Your points must be CLEAR, RELEVANT AND

    ADEQUATE: To enable the interviewer to understand what you are

    trying to say; to determine your strengths for thatparticular job

    Dont describe how you WOULD behave. Describehow you DID behave.

    If you later decided you should have behaveddifferently, explain this.

    mind Be careful that it does not sound rehearsed

    same time do not be too humble Mentally list down your greatest strengths

    Also have corresponding examples

    Memorize them should be able to talk about

    them at 3 in the night A few good examples: ability to prioritize, ability to

    work under pressure, problem solving skills,leadership skills, positive attitude, professionalexpertise
