Inauguration:

The programme was organised with the special emphasis on enhancing the project managerial skill of consultants, trainers and executive of development sector. The Programme was conducted in Board Romm of TIMS.

Dr.S. Sridharan welcomed the participants, invitees’ guests for the programme and gave the overview of the programme and introduced resources persons for the programme for the programme. Participants gave their self introduction and their experience and project.

Mr. Joseph Vaseegaran, Administrative Officer, who was special invitees for the occasion spoke that he himself undergone such Orientation Programme during his earlier career at IFCI.

The programme was inaugurated by Wg. Cdr. Rtd. David Yohan, former Campus Director, on 31st

October 2009, by 10 am. In his inaugural address he said that the challenge of project management for professionals/executives is increasingly become intense and they have to update their knowledge and application periodically to match the deliverables. In all 12 participants attended the programme representing the following 4 different organization background.

1. Project Directors from Andrapradesh from the World Bank assisted Project Tank Management and Livelihood Enterprise Promotion.

2. Assistant Directors from MSME ministry Chennai.3. Corporate trainer 4. Management faculty from TIMS.

Inauguration ended with the vote of thanks to the Chief Guest .Wg.Cdr.(Rtd) David Yohan, Participants and their Sponsors, Chairman, Faculty and Students of Management of TIMS.

Sessions and Faculty:

I Day: 31st August 2009

1s Session on Project Management Basics and 2nd session on Project Planning Process and objective Oriented Planning was handled by Dr. S. Sridharan. The session methodology includes individual and group exercises followed by participant’s presentation.

3rd and 4th session respectively on Project Management Practical Issues- Case Study Approach and Logical Frame Work Analysis was handled by jointly Mr. Vijay Kulakarni and Mr. Patwari. The session was carried out with a mixture of group exercise by the participants on developing a planning document on Logical Frame Work Analysis. Participants had actively participated and the group interaction was intense.

II Day: 1st September 2009

Second day Dr. S. Sridharan took Project Management Role-Demand and Communication Skill, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Action Plan Preparation. Live examples and role play and Case Study were used widely and participants have participated with personal interest to know the applications.

Mr.Ramappa, Regional Coordinator, ‘Community Management Model-Tank Project’, Dhan Foundation(TATA Trust) from Sira, Tumkur District interacted with participants on Tank Management focusing on Community Enterprise Development model, Organization structure, etc. He presented a Film on the same topic.

Interaction with Chairman:

Dr. Thomas. P. John Chairman of T.John Group of Institutions interacted with the participants and each participant introduced themselves and expressed that they need minimum 3 days for the programme and wanted accommodation facility within the college premises as echo friendly environment is so encouraging and participants would love to stay in such environment for residential programme. Chairman made a note of it and expressed that we would look into it.

Third and Fourth Sessions on Action Plan-Live case and Project Implementation - Milestone Approach was handled by Mr. Vijay Kulkarni and Mr. Patwari. At the end participants were given time for giving their individual presentation on:-

1. The learning and takeaways from the programme for each one and their Action Plan for Back Home project situation.

Valedictory Function

On 1st September evening by 5:15 the Valedictory Function started, the Chief guest of the function was Wg. Cdr. (Rtd.) P. Sambasivan.

Dr. S. Sridharan the Programme Director welcomed Wg. Cdr. (Rtd.) P. Sambasivan and requested him to be the Chief guest of Valedictory Function and to award certificate to the successful participants. Dr. S. Sridharan gave a quick recap of the project management from inauguration and participants profile, resources persons, details and programme contents, programme kit with a handbook from TIMS on Project Management Orientation. The chief guest asked the participants to give feedback suggestion to improve further requirements for their organization and their colleagues. The participants in general have expressed their satisfaction but they wanted the programme to be extended for one more day with a field visit and staying facility within the campus as the environment is so healthy and encouraging.

Participants have expressed the ambiance at T. John Group of Institution was encouraging, and faculty, principal and entire team of T. John Group of Institution was dynamic and service oriented under the leadership of young and dynamic the Chairman Dr. Thomas. P. John. Earlier as per the standard norms feedback from participants were collected and a structured schedule to express their satisfaction level.

Dr. S. Sridharan gave vote of thanks to sponsors of participants, Mr S. P. Tucker, IAS., Commissioner and Principal Secretary to Government, Government of Andrapradesh, Irrigation and CAD Department, Director MSME-DI, Chennai(Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India) and other sponsors M/s Next Link Pvt Ltd, from NGO GVMMS, Tamilnadu and TIMS Management faculty.

Special Thanks were mentioned to Mr. Reddy Kumar who was also a Project Coordinator for his excellent and incomparable coordination and support services arranging accommodation, transport, programme materials, heavy equipments, banner, photograph etc.

Special thanks were given to Mr. Rajesh Naik, Marketing Head for his excellent support in selecting accommodation and coordination with Principal (TIMS) and Mr. Reddy Kumar. Sincere thanks were expressed to Principal of TJC Dr. Sister Flower Kommattam for her support extended by providing infrastructure and resources from BHM Dept. A heartfelt thanks were expressed to Mr.Mauchdo , Director, BHM, Prof. Satish Khalkho (HOD), and Prof. Suresh BHM Dept. and entire team along with BHM student for their impeccable support to the programme. Also special thanks expressed to the MBA students Ms. Madhumati and Ms. Roopa from TIMS who were supportive in organizing reading materials, file arrangements and coordination with other departments etc.

The programme ended by 6:30 pm.
