It is a republic located at the Maltese archipelago which includes the islands of Malta, Gozo, Comino, Comminotto and Filfla. It is located at the south of the Italian island of Sicily between Europe and North Africa, it has been occupied by Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs and latterly France and Britain.The independence from Britain was declared in 1964, after the Maltese people were awarded with the George Cross by the United Kingdom for defending the island during World War II. But the independence was not effective until 1974 when his president was declared head of the state and in 1979 when finally the britain soldiers abandoned the island.

Where is it?The economy of Malta depends of foreign trade, toursims and fiml production, because Malta produces only the 20% of its food need and it has no energy sources.The country is partof the European Union and the Euro Zona. Industries:tourism, electronics, shipbuilding and repair, construction, food and beverages, textiles, footwear, clothing, tobacco.Natural resources:limestone, salt, arable land.

ECONOMYThe culture of Malta reflects various cultures that have come in contact with the Maltese Islands throughout the centuries, including neighbouring Mediterranean cultures, and the cultures of the nations that ruled Malta for long periods of time prior to its independence in 1964.

MUSIC: Traditional Maltese music includes what is known as gana. This consists of background folk guitar music.LITERATURE: Maltese folktales include various stories about mysterious creatures and supernatural events. These were most comprehensively compiled by the scholar (and pioneer in Maltese archaeology) Manwel MagriCULTURECUISINE: Maltese cuisine shows strong Sicilian and English influences as well as influences of Spanish, Maghrebin and Provenal cuisines.

Traditional Maltese proverbs reveal a cultural importance of childbearing and fertility: a childless marriage cannot be a happy one. This is a belief that Malta shares with many other Mediterranean cultures. Aquilina's musical origins began with her playing piano in school. She has been singing since she was eight years old and has been playing piano since she was nine.She has been singing since she wsa 8 and playing piano since she was 9, but when she was 13 she went to an event and sang Poker Face by Lady Gaga, her mother filmed her and because of that her manager found her.
