PREFACE
DIRECTOREducational Planning and Research DivisionMinistry of Education Malaysia
Quick Facts is published annually by the Educational Planning and Research Division (EPRD) to provide easy and fast access to vital educational statistics and basic indicators on education. It is a comprehensive pocketbook on educational data which will be useful to various agencies and stakeholders in decision making and planning educational programmes and initiatives.
Quick Facts 2013 provides current information pertaining to schools, student enrolment, and teachers at the pre-school, primary, secondary and post secondary levels. In addition, we have also included selected World Education Indicators which can be used to compare indicators from various education systems. Unlike the previous editions, in this edition of Quick Facts we have compiled education data from the public and private sectors under one broad heading to make it easier for users to make comparisons. Furthermore, data on tertiary education has been omitted because these data have been provided in a separate publication. We hope that these innovations in Quick Facts 2013 would make it more accessible to users.
The Educational Planning and Research Division would like to thank all agencies which have provided educational data and information for Quick Facts 2013. I would like to convey my appreciation to all those involved in publishing this edition of the Quick Facts.
