ART/MUSIC

Malaysias multi cultured make up influences all of its art and music. the two major influences are music and dance. Malaysia didn’t really have cellphones or computers so music was a useful tool for communication. Some famous musicians are Siti Nurhaliza, Stacy, Adira, and Ziana Zain.

ARCHITECTURE

One of the famous landmarks Malaysia is known for is the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumper. It was constructed in 1998 and had 22 fewer floors than the World Trade Center. The bottom floor consisted of a shopping mall with a variety of different consumer needs.

The Batu Caves is also a popular landmark in Malaysia. It house a temple which attracts a lot of Hindu visitors. The batu caves is one of the most popular shrines outside of India.

FASHIONMalaysians express themselves with a mix of different colors, fabrics, and materials creating popular pieces of artwork. Local and foreign elements are responsible for many of Malaysias fashion trends. Some popular fashion designers are Jimmy Choo, Zang Toi, Bernard Chandran, and Farah Khan.

FOODSince Malaysia is so diverse they are known for a variety of different dishes. 3 main types are Malay, Chinese, and Indian. Their ingredients consist of Rice, Congee, noodles, bread, fruit, meat, and vegetables. Nasi Lemak is the national dish of Malaysia.

LANGUAGE

• Bahasa Malaysia is the official language of the Malaysian people. It is also known as Malay. The two largest native languages spoken in east Malaysia are the Iban language and the kadazan language. Even though English isn’t the official language of Malaysia it still takes precedence over malay in certain official contexts.
