The Malayan Heritage

Our Early Relationship• Before the coming of the Spaniard to our country, the Malay

ancestors had brought for our land ancestral culture, food, drink, mode of dressing, housing, society, government and laws.

• Our early relationship also brought good for our country, India, China and Arabia

Food and Drinks

• Rice is the most essential food for the Philippines early Filipino

• Tuba is the popular wine of our ancestors

Mode of Dressing

• Men were kangan (short-sleeved, jacket) and bahay (strip of cloth wrapped around the waist in between the legs).

• Putong ( a piece of cloth wound around the head).

• Women wore baro ( a wide-sleeved jacket) and patadyong (skirt) piece of cotton cloth which they wrapped about their waist and full to their feet.

Social Classes Of Our Ancestor

• Dato- leader of the tribe (high).

Maharlika- middle class people

Alipin- slave of the community / tribe
