Why should I care about malaria?

There are about 200 million cases of malaria each year

A child dies every 60 seconds from malaria

Malaria disproportionately affects pregnant women and children, mainly in sub-Saharan Africa

• 77% of deaths from malaria occur among children under the age of five

• 90% percent of the deaths (all ages) due to malaria occur in sub-Saharan Africa

More nets are needed• At least 150 million insecticide-treated nets are needed each
