Young and very open minded is how one can describe Zoey, who is making a career of what she is passionate about using her God given talent. Today’s life is demanding, requiring an innovative way of surviving. Education to provide for an income is essential. Zoey is an entrepreneur that has looked at ways of making money within her surrounding and in the process have fun.

Name: Zwoitwa (Zoey) MadiaAge: Twenty somethingBackground: Studied at Hoërskool Louis Trichardt, furthered with UNISA in Business management, currently busy with her Honours.

“When I turned 21, my parents presented a registered business document called Rospa Trading, specialising in events management. I must admit – the gift was a bit puzzling as I had expected something tangible. They realised that, having showed a

lot of interest in their business, they were basically building on that and investing in mentoring me. At first I did not take the whole thing seriously, it came to light when I arranged a surprise baby shower for a friend and I got a lecture from her about how I am sitting on talent.

My passion in this business is mainly preparing baby-showers; kiddies and kitchen parties.

The artist in me just comes

out! I work mainly in the province but have started expanding into Pretoria, where my business partner (Tsawani Ligavha) takes care of things from that side.

I think that if one is able to look within themselves and their God given talent/s,- it can work as an avenue of surviving financially. Of course it is always good to add education to one’s life as it broadens the mind into thinking bigger and being exposed to the world out there.”* Word of encouragement to someone who just graduated: Don’t wait to get a job or for the government to provide one. Go out there and make a mark - you will never know until you try.* Who do you want to hala at: My parents, siblings; extended family and friends.

No man? LOL-NO, want to lay a good foundation for myself first as an individual.

For a man who grew up watching his older brother putting up ceilings and designing related wooden articles, working as a general decor artist is a fulfilment of an activity which has been running in his blood with his heart’s throb.

Justice Murwanthi started business in 2005 but he only registered his company in 2010, after motivation and encouragement from the people who are closest to him. “Getting a CK for my work was a big achievement for me,” Justice says. “It means now I can access tender opportunities in the municipality and public domain.”

Justice specialises in putting up ceilings. He can also add a new, attractive look to your ceilings and walls using appropriate materials. For this job, which requires more than one pair of hands, he has at least four persons as his employees, which also is a true reflection of job creation among the youth.

In 2007, he went to do practical work with a skills institution in Randburg, Gauteng, from where he came back with a certificate of work proof.

This kind of job is not without challenges for hardworking Justice.

“Some clients are hard to deal with, you know,” he speaks, his eyes fixed on me. “You agree on a certain amount of money for work, and when you’re done with the whole job they tell you that they don’t have enough money and that they won’t be able to make it either. Others will only choose to delay your payments. They forget that you have employees to pay, and these employees are family people with kids to maintain.”

As for now, Justice says his dream is to open up an office. “At the moment I don’t have any office in town like many people do,” he says. “But I hope to have one soon. However, my clients can still reach me on 072 406 2659.”

One last point of note: this is not a vacancy page for established business. We will assist these businesses with a proper vacancy advert if you want, but this initiative is rather an attempt to help those who are unemployed, but who do still have skills of some sort or another that they can use.

Passionate Decor Artist at Work

* By Tshifhiwa Given Mukwevho

The music industry as a whole is a poll of art at different levels. It has become more evident that some artists turn to make it because of the amount of exposure they have.

Between a record company; what an artist signs for; the composition and arrangement of a song they are all determined by marketing strategies, which relates to anything from playing dirty or clean in terms of publicising and marketing. There are these cheap songs in every sense which make it BIG, where one wonders what is the message? Perhaps one is being old school but clearly the old songs are being remixed either through lyrics or rhythm. It could be justified by being called modern beats or being creativity (having fun). The truth is when a musician chooses to go that route, it leaves a touch of being measured to the original maker of the song, which could go either way in terms of response.

It is sad how the real quality of music (composition-arrangement-lyrics) is actually not getting full exposure like the “popular today, forgotten the next day’’ songs. In fact these short shelve life songs make so much noise that the real makoya evergreen songs have a

market of its own, which ends up not being enjoyed by everyone else equally, this isolation has made some of our African creams to move out of the country for lack of appreciation, such as Tutu Phuwani who is now based in Germany. It is not everyone who can afford to attend classy festivals, thus leading to lack of talent enhancement or transfer. Where a clear cut is being created or groomed - between: quick money and popularity or no money and popular, then forced to keep up with the so called standard of being a celebrity, which drives to getting into habits that are to feed the celebrity status versus good music (shelf life) but not enough exposure; money and marketing.

So where are we herding really? It seems our grand children will be playing one instrument, held at one key- soft then high pitched and they get a bravo. Is that talent or lack of creativity? My opinion is that unless we invest in talent grooming, then those that are talented are being groomed to think inside a box, as per what is selling instead of exploring and growing from that which is already created. Leading to depletion of a variety of talent within the music industry.

Is it about talent or popularity?

So, this week Mamma is going to talk about the fraise “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”Now the question is: Who is the Beholder? And which Beholder’s opinion matters the most?

Truth is, my dearies, it starts with you. What do you see when you look at yourself in the mirror… not just your face, but neck down also. (wink-wink)

Indeed we’re not all blessed with the gift of a natural hot body and pretty face like “some” of our celebrities gracing the gossip columns and magazines. But in every one of us, there is a certain something that is beautiful. Maybe your best feature is your eyes, or your lips. Your hands or your legs, even your intelligence can be such a beautiful thing (without the arrogance of course). But there is something about you that makes you beautiful. Find out what that “something is” focus and improve those pointers. It’s important that you believe you are beautiful, you’re your own celebrity,‘cos youre UNIQUE. Confidence and insecurity can be picked up immediately by other people. Don’t try and be someone else, BE yourself.

With that said, let’s move to cosmetics. Cosmetics are everywhere, for our use for our abuse, for artistic pleasures and to accentuate the dramatic . But when it comes to applying it, that’s where some

of us hit a snag in the road. It is to accentuate what you already have, not to hide underneath it, or obsess about how perfect you’ll look with it. When you start feeling anxious about not having

to wear make-up, then, my dear, you know something’s wrong. Physical Beauty is indeed

SKIN DEEP. Newsflash!! We all

get old, and things start shrinking or hanging, and that’s when we have to rely on our personalities. Why just rely on your looks only, when you have a dashing personality and a brilliant mind? We all want someone whom we can grow old and enjoy life with. Why just have or be someone who stares at themselves in the mirror, and look pretty all day long? You can buy an ornament for that, and it will be

much cheaper. And face it, Vanity is NOT sexy.

When it comes to applying make-up to your specific features: DO NOT OVER DO IT!! If you put on fake lashes to accentuate your beautiful eyes, make sure that they are the right length and the right fit for your lookers, if there too long, then it will look as if your planning on creating a natural disaster (or tornado) by just blinking. And if you have gorgeous lips, DON’T overdo it with the lip liner. Most of the time, less is more. If you want people to stare at you, make sure it is for the right reason. Too much eyeliner, eye shadow and blusher can seriously make you look like you came from the circus or truly that your trying to hide your true self. And the latter makes me a bit suspicious… “What are you trying to hide?”

Well that’s it from me for now… You must have a very pretty day my babies -

Kind Regards Mamma Chieck

DVDDorris Davhana’s

first DVD collection “Baxolele Nkosi” is

her means of coming to terms with the disappearance of her husband’s corpse from the graveyard in Gogobole in 1998, when merciless people dug up the grave and stole the corpse.

The DVD is sub-titled “The Best of Dorris Davhana”, but a fan or reviewer like myself might be forgiven in thinking that this is not the “best” collection

ever, but one woman’s way of expressing her pain and the need to forgive possible hurters. Dorris says in an interview attached to this DVD that she has forgiven the people who stole her husband’s corpse, even in the song “Baxolele Nkosi”. But the question is, how can you forgive people whom you do not know?

In “Baxolele Nkosi”, Dorris says that she still needs answers from people who stole her husband’s corpse. In

terms of picture quality and sound quality, the DVD is good, but I feel that her thin and velvety voice doesn’t mend to satisfactory sense with the sounds.

This album’s value lies in the interview and the title track, so do I conclude (remember this is only my assessment and not yours).

Leonard Machaba, aka Leonard Machaba & the Black Roots, is a man whom you cannot easily see roaming the town streets or village pathways. He lives and eats music in his home at Madabani village in the Kutama area. Machaba has taken to musical beats and rhythms like a duck to water.

His voice as a Reggae artist rests somewhere between Yellowman and Don Carlos, when he calls a spade a spade in his songs, commenting on social and political issues. He started singing in a youth choir way back in 1990 and the year 1995 saw him practising keyboard and guitar. Today, when listening to his music, you can tell Machaba has groomed himself into a champion keyboard player.

“I love Reggae music,” he said when Makoya visited him in his village. “I can’t live without music and I hate hypocrisy.”With two albums under his belt and a new offering on its way to be released soon, he says that he loves his music to reach people and people perhaps will get to hear what he is trying to convey.

“I wish for my people never to be victims of political agendas and political Mafioso,” Machaba says. “I don’t wish to see myself being ruled by political leaders who are mindless men.”

This man’s first album was titled Drama in Iraq; “but it did not do well in the market,” he says. The album that proved to be successful is his second release, In My Land. Upon the release of the latter album, he was even given an opportunity to perform for inmates in the fully-packed gymnasium at the Kutama-Sinthumule Correctional Centre, and his sounds were well received.

Machaba has so far performed in national events as well, such as PhalaPhala fm’s 46th birthday

celebration in Pretoria last year in February.

For 2012, his current musical project has reached post-production stage already and the album’s title, to be released soon, is Discrimination.

The Rise of Reggae Maestro - LEONARD MACHABA

It has become an annual event for Science-tuBE’s to bring some of the South African role players in mathematics, science and technology. It is time for everyone to be part of these crucial events in our life time, for the benefit of future generation.

If you are not aware what will be happening in the week of 16 – 21 July 2012, be informed that science and technology festival/exhibition will be on your own backyard. All roads lead to Makhado Show Ground. Limpopo Province is one of the Provinces in our country that has a record in producing a lot of science and technology professionals; hence this needs to be sustained.

Science-tuBE slogan says, “Breaking Borders Beyond Science and Community by rebuilding a culture of learning beyond limits”, we are here to demonstrate to the learners and community that as

much as they are alive, they will always be applying science in their lives.

This festival is about bringing people together and share their expertise, where people from different fields will be coming together and help our society to learn in an informal and fun way. This approach is quite exciting as visitors will be learning without limit and have the experience outside the classroom. Artist: Abby MamphorogoAlbum: Jesus exaltationRatings: 4/5

He comes from the blood line of one of the country’s greatest gospel gurus by the name of “Emmanuel Mamphorogo” who also worked as a producer on this masterpiece.

This is his first studio debut album and I am certain it has a thing or two for your ears. The project harbours some of the greatest names in the music industry, the likes of Zozo, Mutendas and Soul Nephawe to mention a few. I wouldn’t expect anything less from the project that has been released under Vhalondoti Music, the reference is the project they did with Malondolo and now that should be a strong tip for you. This ten piece testament is a work of genius. The whole album is a turning point in music world!

Artist: Justin BieberAlbum: BelieveRatings: 5/5

I never paid much attention to this young Canadian born superstar maybe because of my age, until now.

The new album “Believe” is said to be out on the 19th June this year. My main attention is on the song “Boyfriend”, it is a refreshing sound from the superstar who seems to be growing faster in music than anything. Although I don’t like the whispering part, the acoustic and vocals are just on point for me and ready to create another legend from the moment. He came in like a real superstar and did exactly what is expected from one. A velvet voice and a touch of a few strings that made to die for rendition. At his age and this growth, he is destined for greater heights! Go daddy Bieber!

Remember the edition we

featured the article on Mac FAM shooting

their music video for the hard banging

track Red Alarm? Well, the video is out and I think a couple of artists should buy note books and take

some notes. The colour theme for this music video is red and the music video is reddish hot. You’d swear it was taken from the shot in the states as the sound motion picture for one of Hollywood’s finest action movie. I guess these guys killed what they could eat; I mean to live up to the image and standards

they have set. Venda music needs the channel of its own and I mean it!
