Daegan has spoken to a lot of people aboutbeing successful online. Others have come tohim with question after question, year after yearasking him how to achieve success in a homebusiness. He’s found the one thing that holdspeople back is that little voice saying, “I don’t

know what’s going to happen. Can you just tellme?“

At the end of the day NO ONE knows what’sgoing to happen. Even Daegan with all hissuccess and experience in the online marketingworld, does not know what’s going to happenwhen others get started on the internet. But,sometimes that’s the fun of it.

Success in a Home Business:Start Thinking the Right Way

One reason why people fail is the wrong way theythink about their business. It’s a very counter-intuitive thing. This can be made clearer from asmall part of Daegan’s own story.

When he first got started in the home businessindustry he was totally enraptured by the powerof leverage. It just made a lot of sense.

He wanted to build his business online but thebusiness he got involved with and the person hegot involved with did not agree with using theinternet as a way of marketing. Being the everflexible student that he was Daegan agreed to dowhatever his sponsor said.

This ended up with him walking through themean streets of Washington D.C. speaking thescripts taught to him by his sponsor: “Have youever thought about starting a home business?”“Do you keep your options open to making someextra money?”

He can’t count the hours he did this and at theend of that period he had NOTHING to show forhis efforts. And that’s all fine. It happens… that’slife! But then Daegan took a step back and askedhimself the question, “What do I need to do tomake it work?”

He sucked at calling potential prospects on thephone and approaching people in malls andon the street. So he decided he need to havesomething to do this part of the work for him.Through some research, study and observationhe identified exactly what he needed.

This wasn’t like the answer just popped into hishead. There were several months where he hadno idea that the “thing” the “concept” ben existed.

But one day he was in an online forum andclicked the link in someones signature file andBOOM… it came to him. Point by point exactlywhat he had envisioned.

Now, had he not taken a step back and said tohimself, “What do I need to succeed?” He wouldnot have identified what that “thing” was when hesaw it.

This is one of the important points. If you don’ttake a step back… because there are alwaysthings that people will tell you, “You should dothis… You should do that… .“ But if you don’ttake a step back and think about what you needto do to achieve success in a home business –no one will do it for you.

No one is going to evaluate what your strengthsand weaknesses are and advise you on the bestway forward. That’s something you can do andit’s most important that you think about it and doit.

When Deagan identified what he required tobe successful in his business he jumped on itimmediately. What he then realised that whenhe started to think that way, asking himself thequestion, “What do I need to be successful?”

Once he identified what that was and the setuprequired, he could then focus on what he had todo. Ultimately in Daegens case he identified thatwhat he needed was traffic. Controlling his ownflow of quality traffic.

And so by luck he came to the idea of ’NewsletterMarketing’. He found a newsletter, paid somemoney, found someones ad to copy (he didn’t

know anything about writing effective ads at thattime), placed it and went off to work at his regularjob as a Pharmeceutical Sales Rep.

When he came home from work he found he had70 leads and 11 new people in his business. Allas a result of placing the ad in the newsletter.

Now, here’s the point – when he wasn’tsucceeding what was he doing? he waswalking through the streets of Washington D.C.practicing and practicing.

Than at night for hours upon hours he was cold-calling people and “getting kicked in the nuts.”That’s what rejection can feel like, right.

He kept going, kept trying the same thing. Somuch so that he was saying to himself, “I haveto get good at this.”

As a result he would buy more expensive courseon his credit cards on cold-calling people so thathe could bring them into his opportunity. But, henever got any better results.

What was the difference? Success was placingan ad in a newsletter. Failure was attempting tobe the best by increasing his ability. We fail torealise that when we’re trying to succeed, moreoften than not, success is a lot CLOSER than wethink.

It’s not about us mastering something. It’s notabout getting better. It’s much more aboutidentifying your weaknesses, the wall, theresistance in your path to success.

Then you have to ask yourself the question:“How can I get that out of my way?” And as soonas you do and get rid of those obstacles successstarts to come your way.

Are you working too hard? Are you trying tomaster something that you don’t need to. Could“success in a home business” be a lot closer thanyou think it is. If you would just take some timeand ask yourself what is holding you back andfind a way of getting over, around or under it.

Success is far more about removing complexityand simply controlling the things that are

necessary. Calling people on the phone is notnecessary.

And there’s something that you are probablydoing at the moment that is not necessary. Whatis it and why are you doing it? Get rid of it.

Remember, once you get on the path and hittingthat wall, you can’t get past it. You try to getbetter and go down the path of trying to masterthe problem.

But this ‘mastery path’ often does not lead youto mastery. And this will cause you to continueto spend money until you finally run and even inextreme cases go bankrupt.

A wise and experienced marketer once said, “Aproblem aged is a problem intensified.” Is thatwhat’s happening to you? You’re letting yourproblems continue and stick-around. You keepon hitting that wall and making no progress.

Simply get rid of the problem. Remove the barrierand you’ll find success is almost instant. It’s notabout force. It’s about removing the hurdles inyour way.

And that takes thinking and changing yourmindset. And unfortunately a lot of people wantsomeone else to tell them what to do.

Are you going to be the person that thinks…steps back for a minute and says, “What is wrongwith my situation and what are ways to change itfor the better.” Or are you always going to say, “Ineed to find someone else to tell me what to do”and look for external validation.

This is not about hitting the wall and trying tobreak it down. It’s about getting rid of it by goingover, under, round it or in a different direction.

Or it may be that the wall you’re hitting is notthe real problem. So take a step back and thinkabout these things because if you do you’ll bevery close to success in a home business andthe thing(s) that will get you there will becomeeffortless.
