Anchoring Phenomenon Launch each Instructional Segment with an engaging Anchoring Phenomenon Video. This introduces and unifies the upcoming Biology concepts and gives students a context for learning. Students revisit the Anchoring Phenomenon repeatedly as they build their knowledge and broaden their understanding. At the end of the Instructional Segment, students complete Claim-Evidence-Reasoning activities, analyze authentic readings, and engage in an Anchoring Phenomenon STEM project to support their understanding. Investigative Phenomenon Introduce every chapter with an Invertigative Phenomenon Case Study that provides another opportunity for students to interact with an engaging event and gather knowledge to make sense of the Anchoring Phenomenon. Students conduct investigations around the case as they progress through the chapter. They demonstrate understanding of the Investigative Phenomena in the Make Your Case feature. Engaging connections to careers, technology and society increase relevancy for students.
