SONY VEGAS Basic/free – best option for editors with limited knowledge /starting out.

ADOBE After Effects – advanced effects and graphics – taxing on computer – advanced

ADOBE Premiere – next step from Vegas –good editing capabilities with easy interface and effects.

FINAL CUT STUDIO (pro) – Very not free – awesome editing capabilities – allows a great deal of specification.

HD SDStandard definition – Simple, easy to capture and edit.

High Definition – Complex; higher file sizes and harder to capture –be cautious.

CODEC (coder – decoder)COMPRESSION

THE MEAT THE CONTAINER

.avi, .mov, .mp4 etc

Specifies how data is STORED not CODED.

Enables software to identify what the files inside are and what program is suited in opening them/ running them

H.264 , MPEG-2 etc

Specifies how raw data is compressed and arranged within the container.

Depending on the application of the file different compressions and codecswill be used

This is where the majority of your file size will be effected.

RIDICULOUS FILE SIZES WILL PUNISHED (with heckling)  

File‐>Make MovieSelect ‘Save to Hard Drive’ ‐> NextClick ‘Advanced Render’Copy these settings(ie change file type to .MOV or .AVI)

This is not a foolproof recipe so keep trying until you are satsified with the quality and the file is underweight.

Navigate to the Video TabChange the:

Frame Size : Use project settingsVideo Format : H.261Quality: 60%‐85%

Click OkSelect a file Destination on the D DRIVE (Workspace) of the machine your are.Click Save

TEST YOUR FILE – If it ain’t working on your comp, itain’t gonna work on ours. Which is embarrassing. 

AIM FOR A FILE UNDER 20‐30 MB
