How do we decide which images to print?1. Ms. Moran will circle your best images on contact sheet day, you must print at least one of the circled images.

2. Your 2nd image should be based on which image is visually the best, but also technically the best.

STEPS TO MAKING A PRINT 1. Clean/dust negative first.

2. Set negative in carrier emulsion side down and reversed.

3. Place easel on baseboard.

4. Turn light on a switch, turn aperture to 2.8 brightest to focus.

5. Compose image within 5x7 opening in easel by raising/lowering, moving easel and focusing. Make sure no space/outside of the negative is showing!

6. Focus on details and using the grain focus.

7. Turn aperture to f16 or dimmest, set timer to 3 sec and turn light off.

8. Lay test strip in an area with a variety of tones.

9. Expose test strip with blocker card 3, 6, 9, 12, 15.

10. Process test strip.

11. Evaluate test strip in daylight.

12. Proper exposure should show: darkest dark, and lightest light.

13. If not, then use a higher number contrast filter.

14. Refocus image & check for dust.

15. Set timer, 15-35 sec is ideal.

16. Turn off light.

17. Place paper in easel, hit button and develop.

18. After you have printed your 5x7, show instructor for evaluation.
