CASE STUDY: TINY TOTS DAY CARE SERVICES

CLIENT OVERVIEW Tiny Tots Day Care Services is a childcare center where

children are encouraged to develop at their own pace and is

designed to provide a smorgasbord of scholastic adventures

and recreational activities that enable children to discover

and develop a life-long love of learning.

PROJECT OVERVIEWTiny Tots Day Care Services, LLC was established by Sharon Jones in 2013 and was a new and emerging

daycare center in Columbus, Ohio in desperate need of a corporate identity. The center operated out of a

modest single-family home and without having a logo or signage of any kind, struggled to communicate

that it was indeed a childcare center. The few miscellaneous pieces of marketing collateral that Tiny Tots

had were incohesive, unoriginal and we’re made spontaneously without much strategic planning. Tiny Tots

set MAJ Solutions with the challenge of creating an iconic logo and bold corporate identity for the center.

PROJECT OBJECTIVESMAJ Solutions was commissioned to build the brand from the ground up. I completed the following areas of

work: Brand Creation, Logo Design, Brand Strategy, Creative Direction, Brand Launch, Corporate Identity,

Content Writing & Creation, Web Design & Development, Digital Marketing Campaign.

LOGO DESIGNI began by focusing on establishing the Tiny Tots logo set. Sharon Jones, the founder and owner of Tiny Tots, firmly

believes that children learn by “doing” and thrive emotionally, socially, physically and cognitively when they are actively

engaged with their environment. The primary logo was created using this concept and consists of several components:

1. GRAPHICS: The two larger hands serve as the foundation of the logo and represent the loving and

nurturing nature of the centers’ teachers and caregivers. Within the base of the left large hand, you’ll see a

small child’s hand that I created using negative space. This idea was influenced by the owner’s belief in that

“Playing provides heaps of opportunities for children to explore, learn and develop new skills”. Lastly, a star

was used to dot the letter “i” in “Tiny”.

LOGO DESIGN2. TYPOGRAPHY: Continuing with the “Play” theme,

I used a modern, playful handwritten display and

script style font as inspiration to create and imply a

happy-go-lucky feel.

BRAND CREATIONThe main objective of the center is to foster a desire

for learning within each child by providing a safe

environment that is optimized for happiness and

growth. I extracted ideas and keywords from this

concept which resulted in my curation of the official

Tiny Tots motto and slogan.

MOTTO:“Inspiring Children. Providing Hope.”

SLOGAN:“The epicenter of learning, growth and creativity!”

COLOR PALETTEFor the color scheme, I wanted to find the perfect symbiosis between sophistication, solidity and per-

sonality. Ms. Jones expressed her philosophy that children develop at their own pace and each have

their own individual learning styles. In order to create a memorable, cohesive brand identity that

tells a story, I decided to use bight vibrant colors (Green, Blue, Pink, Purple, and Yellow) in the form

of watercolor droplets. No two watercolor droplets are the same and each develop their beauty and

uniqueness in their own way, similarly to how children grow and develop.

CORPORATE IDENTITYI Designed custom high-quality, print-ready marketing collateral for their

corporate identity – Includes, business cards (front & back), corporate

handbooks (for company policies & procedures), attendance sheets, Pow-

erPoint presentations, and forms. Additionally, I provided content creation

services for the Staff & Parent Handbooks.
