INTRODUCTION

The System functions described in this course are used in the management of scheduled and unscheduled maintenenace. This course addresses defining setup data, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance processes and reporting. Please read the “Important to Know” sections before moving to the detail exercises. EXERCISE 1

MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT SETUP DATA

The following functions are used to add and maintain the initial setup data, before applying maintenance management. Study the online help when doing these exercises. Use the Denomination Of Life function to add the measuring method used in determining the next maintenance actions.

Use the Equip Action Notification Types function to add a notification type. This type basically describes what needs to be notified.

Use the Equip DOL Action function to add actions to be taken when certain denominator of life measurements are reached.

Use the Location Master function to pre-define locations where equipment may reside.

Notes: Step 8 & 9: Select the applications applicable to the location added. Equipment Base must be selected.


Use the Equipment Status function to pre-define statuses that a piece of equipment may have.

Use the Scheduled Tasks function to define when the Maintenance Recall program is to be performed. This run will kickoff mail to inform coordinators when maintenance is due.

Use the Equipment Maintenance Routing function to define routings that can be used when reporting progress on the Equipment Maintenance function. The routing must have at least New, Busy and Done steps.

EXERCISE 2 ADD SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE PART NUMBERS

Add a part pumber for the item which need to be maintained. Also add a part number for the MSI Maintenance Kit to be used when maintaining the first part. Study the online help when doing this exercise. Use the Part Master function to define a Maintenance Part and a MSI Maintenance Kit Item.

NOTE:

Fixed installation informs the system that the part will likely be maintained where it is. I.e. it does not have to be moved into stock and out of stock to a maintenance order. (I.e. a building that needs to be maintained.)

EXERCISE 3 ADD A MSI MAINTENANCE KIT

The MSI Maintenance Kits function is used to link a maintenance kit part to a part that needs to be maintained. Use the MSI Maintenance Kit function to link a kit to a part.

This tab shows which parts/equipment will possible use the maintenance kit.

Note the two buttons Part Op and Prod Struct. They are used to create the standard routing and material requirements that apply to the MSI Maintenance Kit.


EXERCISE 4 ADD A MAINTENANCE ROUTING AND REQUIREMENTS

The Part Operation function is used to add a maintenance routing. Repeat the steps in figure 3.1 to add one or more operations as part of the maintenance routing against the MSI Maintenance Kit Number. Use the Part Operation function to add a maintenance routing.

Step 5: Note the type of operation as maintenance.

The Product Structure function is used to add maintenance material requirements to the MSI maintenance kit number. Repeat the steps in figure 4.2 to add more one or more material requirements against the maintenance kit. Use the Product Structure function to add material requirements.

EXERCISE 5 ADD EQUIPMENT DOL ACTION DEFAULT

The Equipment DOL Action Default function is used to describe the maintenance plan. Use the Equipment DOL Action Default function to add the maintenance plan.

Step 6 defines how often this action needs to be performed.

Step 7 states that even if the current maintenance order starts late the next order will be scheduled on the date as originally planned.


EXERCISE 6 CREATE EQUIPMENT BASE

Use the Equipment Base function to add a Equipment Base record for the part to be maintained.

Step 6: Select the routing that must apply when reporting progress. Also see figure 1.7a.

At least 1 (starting) status must be added. Also add the Customer (May be internal management) and the equipment location.

Step 8 & 9: Define the cost collector (Node or Account) and next action date.

Step 10: Make the Action active by selecting Active.

EXERCISE 7 LINK EQUIPMENT DOL ACTION ALLOWED

All maintenance actions that are valid options are linked to the equipment using this function. Study the online help when doing this exercise. Use the Equipment Dol Action Allowed function.

NOTE: After adding perform a check on the attributes tab on the part master for the maintenance item part number. The following 5 attributes should be linked: Part Operations, MSI Maintenance Kits, Equipment DOL Action Defaults, Equipment Notifications and Equipment Base.


EXERCISE 8

PROCESSING NOTIFICATIONS ON EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE

The Mail function is used to view maintenance notifications. Mail is send to the coordinator of the equipment. Study the online help when doing this exercise. Use the Mail function to view the notification.

Step 2: The listed notifications can be filtered by selection a combination of Equipment_ID (like), and the Notifications for field.

EXERCISE 9

ACCEPTED NOTIFICATIONS ON EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE

Use the Order Master function to view the maintenance order.

If the part to be maintained was flagged as fixed, it will merely be shown as a floor stock item with no costs associated. This implies that the item is not moved from a store to the order and back when finished. Issue the material requirements via a store to order requirements movement as explained in the Movements course.

EXERCISE 10

UNSCHEDULED MAINTENANCE

Unscheduled Maintenance is initiated through the requisition functionality. Use the Requisition function to create a maintenance request.

NOTE: Step 4 selects the piece of equipment to be maintained and step 7 will obtain its material requirements and routing from the msi maintenance kit.
