• Oral Health research process of generating local scientific data to inform policy.
• Mainstreaming is not an end in itself but a strategy, an approach, a means to achieve the goal of excellence in oral health research during this process.
• Example from the Oral HIV studies and Periodontal research done at KEMRI illustrate this effort based on Scientific impact factor(SIF) contribution.

Nairobi Cancer Registry
• Nairobi Cancer Registry is a population-based registry that was established in the year 2001 at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), Nairobi under center for clinical research.
• The registry identifies and abstract cancer cases from various health facilities for purposes of determining
• incidence,
• prevalence and
• mortality rates from cancer in Nairobi region.
• The head and neck group of cancers is noted to be higher in male than female a ratio of 2.4:1 respectivley.
