It’s my pleasure to give you Maini Varta’s twelfth issue on the eve of Maini Divas.

Maini Divas began in 1993 as a way to get everyone in the Group and their families together, once a year, on the Sunday nearest to 29th June, which is our Founder’s birthday. It’s been celebrated every year since, which makes this our 21st Maini Divas. This year both fall on the same day. Here at the editorial team, we’ve seen Maini Day begin in a hall in Jayanagar, move onto the RSI on MG Road, then to a venue in the HAL airport area and, finally, on to its present one, the sprawling grounds of the Bangalore Palace, as the family gathering every year has steadily become bigger.

This is the perfect opportunity to acknowledge the Maini Divas team headed by Vippen Sareen for its meticulous planning and for the vision to make the event better from one year to the next ... all your efforts are noticed and very much appreciated.

To bring out an issue of Maini Varta at around this time is itself a tremendous high! The mood is upbeat and celebratory and although I can’t promise, we’ll certainly try to bring out an issue every Maini Divas so that we have a record of the achievements of the Maini Group, which we are all so proud to be part of.

I wish you all a wonderful second half of the year.

Till we meet again, stay healthy, safe and peaceful.

Happy reading!

A MAINI DIVAS MESSAGE

'Before going to sleep, end your day by spending 15 minutes with yourself going through what you have done in the whole day.'

This means that each one of us thinks that we are clever enough to fool anyone, but

remember, nobody is clever enough to fool himself.

By spending 15 minutes, on going through what you have done the whole day, you will create a very nice system of audit within yourself for your activities which eventually creates self-regulation.

When you start this habit, you may

to continue after a few minutes. If you persist, you will slowly form this habit and then you will enjoy continuing this practice.

How rightly Mirza Ghalib has said,'Umar bhar Ghalib main bhool karta raha, Dhool chehre pe thi aur aina saaf karta raha!'

Women's Day at Bommasandra'In moving forward, we must ensure that women’s empowerment and gender equality stand at the heart of all we do, to ensure a better future.'

With this oath, we observed Women’s Day at Bommasandra. The sense of occasion was

heightened with the audience of about 40 being formally dressed, a cake-cutting and flowers given to the women present.

Empowerment was the focus and the speakers were Ramachandra and Thirumalleshkumar A.S., Head HR and IR, KB Mallamma, operator and Bommasandra employees.

Awareness Programme:Prevention of Sexual Harassment 18TH & 19TH APR 14 BOMMASANDRA.

An awareness programme on prevention of sexual harassment was well-attended, where activists

Supply Chain & Logistics Excellence (SCALE) 21ST - 22ND MAY '14 MUMBAI. The SCALE Awards salute excellence in the logistics service industry and the supply chain aspects of the user industry. It’s a first in the Indian logistics fraternity. Over 200 delegates attended this year’s event, including the top management of the 36 supply chain and logistics companies and other industry users shortlisted for the awards.

SILVER PRESENCEMaini was the event’s Silver Sponsor and our brand was emphasized with our stall, corporate video screenings during networking breaks with Reach and Vertimag® standees in networking zones and prominent logo placements. CEO S. A. Mohan (see left), Logistics Advisory Council member, of CII- Institute of Logistics thanked participants and award winners.

and stakeholders from India and several other countries in both these industrial sectors. This year’s edition was the 29th.

There were over 2,000 participants from more than 18 countries which made it the logical event to showcase our comprehensive electric mobility solution suite to the hospitality industry. It was also a good way to direct the attention of leading domestic and international hospitality brands towards our customizing capabilities.

As our pre-event mailer put it: ‘From cafeteria to cabana’. The standard-bearer was the Maini Buggy, chosen to show just how we could redefine hospitality standards of luxury and service.

It's already a familiar presence at airports (Bengaluru’s KIAL and Delhi IGI) and on the premises of hospitality leaders across the spectrum, from five-starrers like the Hyatt and Hilton, Oberoi and Vana to resorts like Orange County, Sarovar and Sterling Resorts, apart from those of our several corporate clients.

The Maini-NACCO Materials Handling Group (NMHG) relationship was further cemented when production of the Yale-Maini co-

branded Reach Truck began at our new factory in Nelamangala.

MANIFOLD STRATEGYWe entered into this alliance in 2010 to manufacture Yale products in India and to represent their European range here. We also exclusively handle sales, service, parts and customer support for Yale MHE in the country.

What’s more, NHMG product design and engineering expertise transfers enable us to manufacture certain key Yale products and so capitalise on our country’s evolving market demands. At MMM, in turn, we’ve utilised our

local-market knowledge and solution expertise to introduce completely new product ranges to a growing number of major customers and end-users.

SUCCESSES First off our production line was the increasingly successful Yale co-branded three-wheel counterbalance electric forklift truck. Since its launch, it's garnered end-user laurels for its class-leading compactness, energy-saving rear wheel drive, high performance and optimum productivity.

Building on the three-wheeler’s success, a locally-manufactured moving mast Reach Truck will be the next Yale-Maini co-branded product.

Cool Chain Summit 29TH MAY '14 MUMBAI. The Cool Strategies Chain Summit addresses supply chain management concerns for temperature- sensitive goods. Maini sponsored its third edition, at Mumbai’s Westin Hotel, where over 150 delegates from the cold store industry attended.

On display were our comprehensive cold store material handling and warehousing solutions applications with the Reach Truck and Vertimag® positioned in the networking zone for maximum visibility.

E-tailing Expo 27TH FEB - 1ST MAR '14 MUMBAI. As official warehousing partner, Maini’s pavilion was the cynosure of 400-plus attendees with an eye-

catching Armes Maini display and our CEO had the attention of all those present when he spoke on ‘Warehousing Solutions for Retail and E-commerce Industry’.

12TH - 16TH MAR '14 BEGUMPET HYDERABAD Fourth time around, the biennial Indian Aviation Show was held at Hyderabad’s Begumpet Airport. Maini, as before, added considerably to the proceedings with our product suites’ e-diversity and practicability. MMM’s green passenger Buggies, particularly, made getting around the fairgrounds in the heat of the day easy and comfortable for participants and visitors.

Tow OpAn eco-friendly addition was the electric Tow Tug for small aircraft and helicopters weighing up to 8 tons. The Tug will be a key

component of the movement towards greener airports everywhere as it can tow other movable tarmac and runway equipment like passenger baggage trolleys, which at present are towed by less environmentally-friendly diesel farm tractors.

The Wheelchair BuggyOur customers always look forward to whatever we do next and there was one more EV innovation for them: the Maini Wheelchair Buggy to carry the elderly, the physically-challenged or otherwise disabled.

Airports today are by definition places of

challenging distances and levels for those of reduced mobility and the Wheelchair Buggy, like all our products, meets a need, long-recognized.

Apart from the driver, it carries two such passengers, three escorts and 150 kg of baggage. A leading Indian airline is our launch customer and that apart, the Buggy is being hugely appreciated for how thoughtfully, easily and safely it will smoothen the journey on the ground for those it’s designed to assist.

VERTIMAG® LAUNCH

We move to the next level of automatic storage solutions with the launch of Vertimag®.

Vertimag®’s modular design works on the ‘goods-to-man’ principle. Two sides of racks hold metal containers served by a lift device, ideal for handling materials of every size, weight and dimension. Vertimag® has a considerable vertical extension and, as an option, is designed to have more than one workstation on the same machine.

It effectively addresses the most varied storage needs by reducing picking and refilling time, handling costs and unused volumes, and eliminates errors during picking and refilling

operations while optimizing timing, work cycles, human resources, space, production and storage needs.

Vertimag® has been designed according to safety requirement rules of the European standards in force such as machine directive, electromagnetic compatibility, low voltage directive, as well as to conform to corresponding national laws and general machine safety standards.

With the wide choice of models, configurations and often unique product specifications Vertimag® will respond scalably to pan-industrial Indian demands.

Senior representatives from diverse industry verticals – Amazon Reseller Services, Toyota Kirloskar Motors, Bosch India, Schneider Electric and ABB Ltd – attended the launch.
