It is great to see so many participants in the Main Street Clean Sweep! KYMS partnered with Bluegrass Green-space on this project last year and I am thrilled to see so many Main Streets participating. This is great PR for your organizations and at very little if any cost to you!
April is National Volunteer month! It’s a great time
to recognize all the wonderful volunteers that work
with your Main Street program!
Want to learn more about giving your volunteers a great experience with Main Street? Join the NMSC for a webinar on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 1:00 PM Central on volunteer manage-ment, presented by NMSC staff Kathy LaPlante and Jodie Hiveley. In addition to discussing volun-teer trends and tips, we will unveil new tools to help you manage your wonderful volunteers, in-cluding a new customizable volunteer handbook! (this alone is a great reason to tune in!)
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:
The American Association for State and Local History
(AASLH) is meeting in Louisville from September 16-
19, 2015. This is an excellent professional development
opportunity for staff, volunteers, and board members of
museums and local history organizations.
Conference organizers, including the Kentucky
Historical Society, are looking for volunteers to
help make this great event possible! If you can
donate your time and talents, it will be greatly
appreciated. Please see the following link for
more information about how to volunteer for
the AASLH conference!

Exciting news for Pineville! Adam Levine comes to intern at KHC!
Seriously, here he is. Adam is a senior at Georgetown College and is completing a project under the direction of Roger Stapleton. The other cool thing he will be doing is after graduation he will be riding his bike across country with his friend to raise money for Parkinson’s disease. Check out their website to see their route and to make a contribution if you like. What a great adventure for a great cause. Look them up at http://pedalingforparkinsonse2w.weebly.com/our-story.html feel free to share with others.
