Main Ridge Grounds Fundraiser Competition Report Thanks for Abby and Ella Noxon who worked hard to get a fantastic range of raffle sponsors for our Fundraiser. We had some prizes left over when ticket buyers left before the draw, so we’ll be running a rally raffle on Sunday. Some of the best things still available! Also, a big thanks to all the members - riders, parents and family members (Bob Masovic and Zac King stand up!) - who helped in the planning, preparation, set up, running and pack up. You know who you are. Lots of you did MUCH more than you were rostered for, or stepped into jobs at the last minute to save the day.

WATER JUMP UPDATE And while the rest of us keep busy with events and clinics, continuing to rise from the arena (or sink into it) is our New Water Jump - thanks largely to the continued labours of Dean the President who has battled rain, wind and, occasionally, hail this winter to get the job done. Dean assures us there will be a members' working bee soon when we will all get the chance to get our hands dirty. WATCH THIS SPACE. Thanks also to our current list of project sponsors:

• Bunnings Rosebud • Hillview Quarries • Geoline • The Knit Studio • Boneo Park • Red Hill Lions Club • Rosebud Community Bank (branch of Bendigo Bank)

FUNDRAISING CHOCOLATES A new order of chocolates has been received. If you can sell a box or 2 or 10 at work or around your friends and family, please contact Melissa ASAP. (Supplies can be collected from her office in Mornington.) mailto:[email protected]

Hannah Shippen & Mayfield Nimue – 3rd & 6th Secondary Preliminary GEAR CHECK – Smooth-soled Rubber Boots Okay! Ambiguity between PCAV'S Gear Rules and Gear Rules Quick Reference Guide lead MRPC to ask the question, and now we have an answer: synthetic riding boots, including the smooth-soled rubber boots made specifically for riding, are permitted to be worn at rally and PCAV events. The rubber boots are a less expensive option for fast growing feet. But do make sure they are proper riding boots, not ordinary gumboots. Should anyone query your wearing of these kind of boots at an event, they should be referred to State Coaching Director Kate Wilson. DID YOU KNOW? Total Animal Supplies in Racecourse Road, Mornington, offers a 2.5% discount to MRPC members that not only saves you money, but also puts the Club in credit when it comes to asking for sponsorship? So remember to mention your membership the next time you buy!

SMZ News SMZ will host a networking and ideas-sharing workshop for Pony Club DCs, Committees and interested parents in our zone. The workshop will be held at Tooradin Estate on Saturday 19th September between 9.30am and 12.30pm. It will cover topics such as:

• rally planning, • instructors and how make the most of them, • certificate planning,

• retaining the interest of older riders, • and more!

The workshop is free to PCAV member families. For more information, or to RSVP, contact Sonia Murphy at: mailto:[email protected] Photos? If any members have photos of themselves at rallies, competitions, or if you’ve taken your pony somewhere interesting or special, we’d love to include them in the newsletter!
