KEWBERG manufactures and supplies a wide range of Instrumentation cables, which are

made using superior raw materials. These Instrumentation Cables are extensively used in

data acquisition systems, process control and computer networking, public address sys-

tems and digital control, measuring & communication systems.

We manufacture and stock a comprehensive range of Screened Instrumentation Cables,

which are used in signalling systems, control and instrument circuits.

These Cables also report and monitor process variables ranging from transducers to en-

vironmental controls and computer inputs. Maximum rejection of electromagnetic noise is

achieved by twisting the insulated conductors. Twisting causes the noise to be cancelled

in adjacent sections of the wire.

Maximum electrostatic noise rejection is achieved by shielding the cable with aluminium

foil tape.

A minimum of 25% overlap of the shield ensures 100% coverage even when the cable is

flexed. The drain wire under the shield provides continuous low resistance path to ground

and simplified hook-up at grounding terminals.

These Cables can also be provided with aluminium polyethylene laminate (APL) and steel

wire armouring (SWA).

Ease of installation is another major benefit of these Cables. Individual cores, pairs, tri-

ads or quads are colour coded and or number printed.

A pair of Communication Wires can also be provided. The Cables are available in a wide

range of insulation and jacket materials, the most popular being PVC, Polyethylene, FR

PVC, LHcL PVC or HFFR PVC.

Construction

Conductor

Bare (plain) or tinned electrolytic annealed copper conductor. Solid, stranded or flexible.

Insulation

Either XLPE, PVC or PE insulation in accordance with SABS 1411 as required.

Twisting and Laying

Required numbers of cores are laid up in case of multi-core core cables. Individual pairs, triads or

quads are formed by uniformly twisting the insulated cores with required lay lengths, prior to laying.

Core Identification

Cores can be colour coded or number printed for easy identification. In case of multi pair cables

both cores in each pair is alpha numerically at short intervals, individual screens are also printed.

Overall Screen

After final lay up of the complete cable an overall screen of aluminium-polyester tape is applied

along with 0.5 sqmm multi stranded annealed tinned copper (ATC) drain wire in continuous electrical

contact with aluminium side of the tape.

Individual & Overall Screen

Individual pairs, triads or quads are screened by aluminium-polyester tape along with 0.5 sqmm an-

nealed tin copper drain wire and overall screened by aluminium-polyester tape as mentioned above.

Tinned copper braid screening can also be used for individual screen.

In case of individually screened cables for critical applications an extruded isolation sheath can also

be provided over the individual screens.

Assembly Binder

After final assembly PVC or PE is provided as required to act as a binder as well as bedding for the

outer screening in all cables.

Armour

Galvanized steel wire or a flame retardant aluminium polyethylene laminate.

Inner & Outer Sheath

PVC, HFFR, LHCL PVC or FR PE sheath can be provided. U.V stabilized Polyethylene sheath can

also be provided for hazardous areas. A blue colour outer sheath for intrinsically safe areas can be

provided on request. A communication wires can be provided if desired.

Rip Cord

To simplify jacket removal, high tensile strength nylon Rip Cord is provided over laid up of pairs/

triads/quads below the outer sheath in case of unarmoured cable or below the Inner Sheath in case

of armoured Cable.

Quality Assurance

Quality Standards are built in every Kewberg Cables product. Our cables are subjected to a series of

required tests in our well-equipped laboratory. Besides the rigid tests and checks at every stage from

raw material through manufacturing stages and finally up to the finished product.

Being an ISO 9001: 2008 certified company, our quality management standards conform to highest

standards quality assurance practices.
