Main Avenue Local Concept Development Study Project Information The Main Avenue Local Concept Development Study will focus on improving safety for all roadway users, traffic operations, transit access, and providing support for economic development along Main Avenue between Monroe Street and Gregory Avenue in the City of Passaic. This study is being conducted in coordination with the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) and the project sponsors, Passaic County and the City of Passaic. Main Avenue is the primary commercial corridor of the City of Passaic. The corridor contains center median parking areas, which were created following the abandonment of the historic Erie Railroad in the 1960s. The corridor experiences a high number of vehicle crashes. Pedestrian and Bicycle safety are also concerns, given the high commercial activity and ten schools located within 1/2 mile of the project limits. During this Local Concept Development (LCD) phase, a well-defined and justified Purpose & Need Statement will be developed to focus on increasing economic competitiveness for the region, environmental sustainability, improving quality of life for the community, improving safety for all roadway users, and the state of good repair of the infrastructure. You can learn more about this study and provide your input via the project website, www.mainavepassaic.com. The website provides project updates, information about upcoming public meetings and events, contact information, and a section for you to share your thoughts on this study and your experiences on Main Avenue. The Main Avenue Local Concept Development Study will focus on improving safety for all roadway users, traffic operations, transit access, and providing support for economic development along Main Avenue between Monroe Street and Gregory Avenue in the City of Passaic.

This study is being conducted in coordination with the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) and the project sponsors, Passaic County and the City of Passaic.
