To, Industry Interface Committee, SPJCM, Dubai Subject: My Nomination to be a part of INDUSTRY INTERFACE COMMITTEE Respected Sir and INDUSTRY INTERFACE COMMITTEE, I, Maheshwar Ramakrishnan from the April, 2011 batch, would like to be a part of the INDUSTRY INTERFACE COMMITTEE and work for the GMBA students of SP Jain Center of Management. I wish to use this opportunity to network with the Industry, help expand SPJCM’s Industry Network and assist students with ARP and ALP Projects. In conjunction with SPJCM’s GMBA Program, I believe this experience will equip me with a holistic skill set on Management. Prior to joining SPJCM’s GMBA Program, I was a Team Leader at www.PropertyGuru.com.sg Singapore’s No.1 Property Portal - for a product I conceptualized and built called Propertyguru Analytics, an analysis tool that helped property agents analyze Singapore’s property markets. Due to its novel and complex nature, I was tasked with initiating sales and training for the company. This involved contacting property agencies, managing focus groups, conducting training and acquiring feedback. I conducted a total of 24 training sessions catering to around 600 property agents spanning across 12 property agencies over four months. As part of a Venture Management Camp called RealAcad, comprising of fifteen individuals from nine nationalities, I contributed the highest amount of seed fund to a startup we jointly initiated. This involved procuring funds from freelance IT jobs and services. Although, it wasn’t a successful venture, it gave me the opportunity to interact with Boston Consultancy Group (BCG) and McKinsey Consultants, scholars and professionals from various fields ranging from Investment Banking to Biotechnologists. While pursuing Bachelors at National University of Singapore (NUS), I held six executive committee positions in various student organizations. As Vice President of NUS Sathya Sai Society, I initiated two Blood Donation Drives, an Elders Assistance Programme, and an annual Trek event for Primary 3 students. As IT Heads of four cultural student organizations, I founded their websites and a blogging system for their members. As part of marketing efforts for the NUS Indian Instrumental Ensemble I approached and procured sponsorship from Air India (Singapore division) including two free return tickets for students to travel to India. I ranked among the top 55 (8%) students in Science faculty with the highest co-curricular achievements and contributions to society. In recognition of this, I was selected to receive my Bachelor’s Degree from the Honorable President of Singapore. I believe interacting with the Industry in Singapore and Dubai will not only provide a platform for me to apply the aforementioned skills but also open new avenues through which I wish to sharpen my managerial and communicatory skills. In this regard, I look forward to an opportunity to meet you to discuss further and hopefully be accepted into the Industry Interface Committee for the April 2011 GMBA Batch. Yours sincerely, Maheshwar Ramakrishnan
