The school lost Mr. Jagdeep Arora, its Administrative Officer on 27 Nov 2013. Mr. Arora had been with the school for more than sixteen years when he was taken away by the cruel hands of death at the age of 45 years. He joined the institute in 1997 as Lower Division Clerk (LDC) and, amply proving his worth, was promoted to UDC (Upper Division Clerk) in 1999 and to AO (Administrative Officer) in August 2013. An interaction with Mr. Arora invariably left you with a smile on your face. Extremely witty and good humored, he had the enviable knack of dispelling the gloom from any tense situation. Always people-friendly, he could cool down the most temperamental person and soothe frayed nerves instantly. Another remarkable trait was his immense faith in God which gave him the courage to live heartily with an indomitable spirit. He remained a hard-working, responsible employee and a high-spirited, cheerful colleague. Life goes on………what remains are precious memories! Mr. Arora is survived by his wife and two daughters. We pray to God to grant strength to the family to bear this irreparable loss. May his soul Rest in Peace.

MAPS SHINES AGAIN AT ISEf (International Science and Engineering Fair)

MAPS has set a trend to win at IRIS (Initiative For Research And Innovation In Science). The school is proud to announce that this year 8 projects from MAPS were showcased at IRIS’13 and the project 'Rubus ellipticus’: an effective natural solution against Giardia intestinalis' by Daksh Dua (XI A) and Abhishek Verma (IX D) won the first prize. The project promotes the use of natural shrub R.ellipticus as an effective, economic, safe and sustainable remedy against G.intestinalis, a common diarrhea-causing parasite. Our budding scientists Daksh Dua and Abhishek Verma are all set to prove their talent in the global arena and set new records at ISEF 2014 , Los Angeles. This ‘Internationalism’ in education will provide a pathway to our young learners that would lead them to achieve in all domains. The interaction with prominent scientists in the world would remind them that the only real constant is change and they need to be the harbinger of transformation.

Congratulations to the winners

and their Guide Teacher, Ms. Ritu Gupta (TGT Science)!!We wish them all the best for their participation at this International arena. The efforts and caliber of our young scientists was appreciated and acknowledged with Participation Certificates at IRIS 2013 .

In our ongoing quest for global citizenship for our students, the following activities were executed which offered them avenues unexplored till now.

RHYTHM DIVINE.... ( October 2013)

In this ever shrinking world it is imperative to understand and appreciate cultures beyond the national boundaries. The main aim of the project was to allow the students from classes I to XI to explore, appreciate and recognize the art forms of different countries. A brief description of this project is as follows. LEARNING OUTCOME: The students were able to : 1. Exhibit elementary steps of dance performance of three countries. 2. Interpret and develop coherent ideas and integrate and organize various true art forms thematically. 3. Recognize the cultural background, prepare and present the dances of various countries in appropriate style.

COMPARATIVE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN INDIA, CHINA AND PAKISTAN (October 2013)

Our aspirations for our students make it imperative for us to help broaden their horizons beyond boundaries and create individuals who can assimilate and analyze knowledge to build a better nation .The students of class XII & XI studied the development strategies of India, China & Pakistan. Working in groups they compared and contrasted the economic, social and health issues related to development in the said nations. Their momentous work was displayed in the form of Wall Webs. Armed with the knowledge of their research on the assigned countries, the students had a panel discussion on the prominent indicators of development of the three countries The

project came to a culmination in Aura 2013 with an Inter School Panel Discussion on ‘Heir Mania’- preference for a male offspring, a common phenomenon in India, China and other developing countries.

Friendship through Education ( April-September 2013) Collaborative projeCt

To keep alive the spirit of friendship, sharing and harmony among nations, Agarsainians endeavoured to make friends overseas. In order to give the idea a concrete shape and make it an everlasting learning for the children, the project,’ Friendship Through Education’ was planned and executed. Students collaborated with learners of countries such as UK, Russia, North America and Pakistan through ‘ePals global Community’. LEARNING OUTCOME: The students were able to : 1. Develop coherent ideas and exhibit artistic skills. 2. Identify the qualities of a good friend and practise empathy, collaboration, creativity and communication skills. 3. Demonstrate their knowledge about China and its culture, in preparation for leading life as global citizens.

CHILDREN'S DAY AROUND THE WORLD ( November 2013 ) On Children’s Day, MAPS celebrated childhood, a universal phenomenon that finds resonance in everyone's heart. Going global, our inquisitive learners of Class I & II learnt when, why and how Children's Day is celebrated in Brazil, India, Taiwan, Sri Lanka and Singapore. They drew flags of the assigned country and presented them to their less fortunate compatriots during their visit to an orphanage; enlightening them about other nations and thereby learning that real happiness lies in sharing. They also presented a cultural programme to liven up their lives and spread cheer. The grand celebrations continued with a Fun-Fair on Children's Day with a Magic Show, races and stage performances. Our diminutive angels’ creativity was enhanced further when they drew and colored their experiences of the day and filled in a gapped letter expressing their merriment. The illustrations and letters were then uploaded on e-language(link-elanguages:org/pages/67236) .

Education is a powerful instrument of change and the key to preparing learners for global challenges. Global citizens must essentially be lifelong learners, equipped with the willingness to learn constantly, while engaging in collaborative

teamwork, replete with a positive attitude. Keeping this in mind, CBSE i curriculum provides every learner with sustained opportunities to learn. This semester the common theme for CBSE i classes 1,2 and 3 were Animals, Plants and Food.

Various fun filled and enriching activities were designed and executed so that the students got ample opportunities to gain hands on experience to enhance their knowledge about animals and develop healthy eating habits.

Nest Making Sowing a Seed

Animal Mask Dance Act Like An Animal Show and Tell

Beaks & Claws Act Like An Animal

To inculcate healthy eating habits and a regard for hygiene during the preparation of food, a plethora of activities were conducted.

Little Chef

Food Pyramid

Salad Making

Make Your Balanced Diet

My Zig-Zag Note

Bird’s Beaks

To create awareness and to encourage sensitivity towards animals and plants among our CITIZENS OF TOMORROW the following activities were conducted.

“THY NEED IS GREATER THAN MINE”

The purpose of human life is to serve with compassion and help the needy. As a part of SEWA activity the learners of CBSE-INTERNATIONAL classes 1,2 and 3 visited an orphanage-BAL MINDA GRAM, Alipur

on 24th November’2013.They carried with them gifts and goodies like self prepared flags of different countries to broaden the vision of these kids and help them learn about other nations and also clothes and

sweets, and spent time with them.

Our talented budding artists even performed a specially prepared dance for them to bring joy and happiness in the lives of the less fortunate.
