Across the board MAHA Maschinen-bau Haldenwang GmbH & Co KG focu-ses consistently on energy efficiencyfor all its products. For the first timethe company from the Allgäu regionwill introduce energy efficiency labelsfor workshop equipment products atthe Automechanika 2012. It allowscustomers to participate actively inclimate and environmental protectionand to save costs.

MAHA Maschinenbau Haldenwang isone of the first companies in the work-shop equipment industry that has intro-duced a product classification for theworkshop equipment. With this measurethe Allgäu workshop outfitter has imple-mented numerous steps to improve theenergy efficiency of the company. MAHAis thus making a significant contributionto sustainable climate protection.

The consistent implementation of theenergy management system alsohas an effect on MAHA products.Energy efficiency and environ-mental aspects were in theforefront during the deve-lopment of the innovativeemission tester seriesMET 6.x both in materialselection and with po -wer consumption. Andwith all other productsof the MAHA program-starting with develop-ment carrying throughto production straightup to customer usageover the lifetime of a pro-duct – will consistentlyfocus on energy efficiency.

Criteria for ClassificationThe classification of MAHA products forthe energy efficiency label is based on aexactly defined assessment matrix. Fol-lowing categories are considered:

• The category life cycle has the highestpriority. It assesses the energy effi-ciency of the product over all life cy-cles in the field such as energy con -sumption and efficiency during theusage time or the recycling share atdisposal.

• The category manufacturing takesinto account the resources needed toproduce the product. Aspects such asvertical integration, applied manufac-turing methods as well as volume andweight efficiency of packaging forshipment are rated.

• In the category organization indirectresource efficiency is assessed on thebasis of the company infrastructure.Under this environmental aspect all re-levant business areas such as qualitymanagement, facility management, fleet management or disposal are in-

cluded in the rating.

SUBSIDIARIES I MAHA South Africa

MAHA South Africa

On the African ContinentSince 1991 MAHA Maschinenbau Haldenwang GmbH and Co. KG has been pre-sent in South Africa. The collaboration with the local dealer in South Africa, RobBraham, made possible the import of the MAHA equipment made in Halden-wang. In November 2009 MAHA South Africa (Pty.) Ltd., another MAHA subsi-diary, was established in the largest economy on the African continent.

It is headquartered in Johannesburg consisting of production, training center, ware-house and offices. The best of conditions to be a competent partner for safety in theautomotive branch and testing industry and to offer good service and, of course,high-quality equipment.

At the same time as the founding of the subsidiary MAHA South Africa (Pty.) Ltd. tookover the business and brand names of TECHNOBRAKE, a local manufacturer of braketesters, side-slip testers and play detectors. This strengthened the market position ofMAHA South Africa (Pty.) Ltd. even further.

MAHA South Africa sells the entire spectrum of MAHA equipment, produced byMAHA Germany. This MAHA technology is thoroughly tested by S.A.B.S. before it is re-leased for sale. This test procedure is mandatory in South Africa and a compulsoryprerequisite before products can be sold there. In addition to MAHA products MADE IN GERMANY, MAHA South Africa (Pty.) Ltd. alsosells the complete product program of TECHNOBRAKE.MAHA South Africa is one of the largest suppliers of vehicle test equipment in SouthAfrica. Well-known vehicle manufacturers such as BMW, Daimler, VW, Scania, MAN,Porsche and test organizations such as S.A.B.S., TÜV and Dekra have long relied on thehigh-quality technology MADE IN GERMANY and belong to the large customer base.

MAHA Australia

Amit Patel, formerly head of service, has been named Managing Directorof MAHA Australia (Pty.) Ltd. on01.04.2012. With a professional staff of5 he is working to build a country-wide sales and service network and tobe present in every Australian state.

Amit Patel also heads up the sales de-partment – supported by John Fro-lich. John Frolich has many years ofexperience in the automotive indu-stry and a technical background inthe aerospace industry. He perfectlycomplements the skills of Rick Thur-good.

As a consequence of the very suc-cessful starting years in the trade theservice organization continues togrow. The long established service de-partment offers optimized and highquality solutions for all customer de-mands.

MAHA Australia (Pty.) Ltd. sells all MAHAworkshop equipment and other MAHAequipment and ensures a trouble-free in-stallation, commissioning and optimumafter- sales service with a professionalservice team. MAHA Australia is in a po-sition to deliver even the heaviest equip-ment – with its own crane truck. Thismeans substantial savings in transportcosts benefitting the customer.

The 5th Continent

MAHA Australia

On April 1, 2010 MAHA Australia (Pty.) Ltd. became a new member of the MAHAGroup. It was the continuation of the long established company Redtower (Pty.)Ltd., which already sold MAHA equipment.

The new subsidiary on the 5th continent had a good start: by continuing the companyfounded by Rick Thurgood a large customer base and first-class reputation could alsobe taken over: many years ago Redtower (Pty.) Ltd. was active in introducing and esta-blishing roller brake testing in Australia at government testing stations. MAHA Au-stralia now supplies further equipment to the ministries. MAHA Australia (Pty.) Ltd. is located 2 km from the center of Brisbane City and con-sists of a modern office and storage complex. Due to the large range of spare partsand standard MAHA products in stock, the reaction times of MAHA Australia are ex-tremely short meaning urgently needed spare parts for maintenance or installationcan be supplied quickly. Everything that is needed to test heavy vehicles in the Australian transport industryis supplied by MAHA Australia – but, of course, the entire MAHA product spectrumand test lanes is available. Another focal point of the young MAHA Australia companyis the sales of dynamometers. Just recently a truck 4-wheel drive dynamometer LPS3000 was delivered to the “New High Tech Heavy Vehicle Training College“ in Bris-bane and a car 4-wheel drive single roller dyno MSR 500 was supplied to a private tu-ning company in Sydney. Another success was the delivery of 22 inground lifts and 2VS Square-lifts to the newly opened Volkswagen training center in Sydney. It goeswithout saying that other well-known manufacturers such as BMW, Daimler, MAN,Scania, among others, are also on the customer list. Also the Public Roads Admini-stration, the State Transit Authority, the Queensland police and regional test organi-zations are among its clientele. The introduction of the MAHA MPM 4 at universitiesand colleges brought MAHA Australia an attractive expansion of an interesting cus-tomer clientele. The MAHA MPM 4-M, which has been built since 2011, offers speci-ally developed diesel particle technology for the requirements of the mining industry.

High-techtesters are a must for an innovative company like Flanders DRIVE and due to the highrequirement profile there were very few vendors who could meet all the demandsand requirements. MAHA’s MSR 1000 fulfilled all the points of the requirement cata-logue.

The Flanders DRIVE team was totally pleased to receive support in its process opti-mization from innovative technology MADE IN GERMANY . The complication-freework-flow straight up to delivery and commissioning of the MSR 1000 was a very sa-tisfying business experience and deepened customer trust and commitment to thepartnership.

MSR 1000

• universal roller dynamometer

• suitable for sporty and lowlying vehicles

• single rollers simulate road similar conditions

• vehicle tests with higher loadover a long period

• for test institutions and work-shops

• testable performance: 550 kW(ca. 750 PS) per driven axle ->1,500 HP with 4-wheel drive vehicles

• wheel separation between 1900and 3500 mm

• axle separation – from rollerapex to roller apex – from 2200to 3200 mm

• easy, intuitive operation

• high operational safety

The MSR 1000 Project in combination with the “royal visit“ went very well. The pro-ject timing was perfect and perhaps we have found a potential customer for a MAHAdyno in our royal family.

Many thanks to all those who ultimately made the fine tuned timing possible.

On to the next project.

Greetings

GENERAL INFORMATION I For Audi and Mercedes Benz

Neimcke and Göhler – strong PartnersFor many years now Neimcke GmbH & Co. KG in Mühldorf/Inn and Göhler GmbH and Co. KG in Hösbach have been amongMAHA’s most high performing partners. With great success Neimcke and Göhler sell, install and maintain all technicalequipment from MAHA Maschinenbau Haldenwang GmbH & Co. KG.’s product portfolio. Two sophsticated reference pro-jects were equipped by them with MAHA equipment: New Audi center for MAHAG in Munich was equipped by Neimckeand Mercedes Benz in Nuremberg by Göhler.

Audi Center for MAHAG in MunichThe Audi terminal conveys fascination notonly through the products, but also throughthe commercial organization. For this reasonAudi is present worldwide in all strategicallyimportant locations, primarily in German ci-ties. The Audi center in Munich is an integralpart of this concept.

From May 2007 to May 2008 the new con-struction of the automobile dealership on Al-brecht Street for MAHAG was realized withdemolition and partial conversion of existingbuildings. The attractive, sporty model range is

presented on the exhibition floor of over2,000 m2 appealing to customers across thegenerations. The complete technical know-how is inspiring which defines Audi’s headstart.

The sales figures for new and used cars showa continuous upwards trend and service hourshave a tremendous growth. To reflect this de-velopment in daily workshop life the neces-sary technology is needed to fulfill maximumefficiency with aspects such as reliability, prac-ticality, and economy: the proven MAHA tech-nology was used to equip the service area.

Mercedes Benz NurembergAfter a one year construction time the newmain operation of the Nuremberg MercedesBenz dealership opened in November 2011.The new construction offers sales and serviceunder one roof and enables an ideal workflowin daily tasks. The focus of planning was eco-nomic, efficient service processes. The dealership consists of four staggered build -ing segments, one behind the other. The light-filled exhibition hall for the Mercedes-Benz,AMG and smart brands serves as vehicle pre-sentation, service reception area and vehicle

delivery area and merges fluently into the se-cond, three-story building which holds fivedialogue reception spots, offices and a café.The third complex houses the warehouse, so-cial rooms and canteen with the last buildingbeing the one story workshop wing. Again it was the high quality technology fromMAHA that was the convincing factor with thisreference project. The decision makers deci-ded upon technical equipment from Halden-wang and relied on the decades of experienceof the company in the premium workshopequipment sector.

maximum of efficiency when workingwith MAHA technology. The resonancewas large – 22 participants from China,Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Hong Kongand Singapore took advantage of theopportunity for 6 days – from 23.04 -28.04. – under excellent training conditi-ons in the private test center, Testcar, toreceive exclusive first-hand knowledge.

The training included the IW 2 EUROSY-STEM test lane, the LITE 3, the combi-te-ster and the LPS 3000 4-WD.

The MAHA Academy offer to hold valu-able training sessions in Asia therebytransporting up-to-date knowledge pro-vides many technicians a chance to up-date their know-how and keep it at ahigh level even if a visit to MAHA Ger-many never becomes a reality.

In this context, MAHA would like to thanktheir colleague Aun in Bangkok who pre-pared the training course excellentlycreating the ideal basis for quality con-trol.

GENERAL INFORMATION I Special Sponsoring

The Allgäu-Orient-Rally is one the majorrally events in the world with about 100teams, ca. 250 cars/motorcycles and ap-proximately 500 participants. Those carsthat are either older than 20 years andnot over € 1,111.11 in value may partici-pate in the rally.

The special nature of this rally is the will -ingness of the racing team to sell theirvehicle after arriving at the destinationand donate the proceeds to charity. Andthis is what makes the Allgäu-Orient-Rally so special considering the promo-ter is an sub-organization of the UNstanding for absolute professionalism.

And then there is this certain connectionto the automotive industry: much of theroute runs through Turkey where MAHA,TÜV Süd, and TÜV TURK introduced ve-hicle inspection countrywide in 2007.The United Nations together with its

World Food Program (WFP) have been apartner with the Allgäu-Orient-Rally foryears. The WFP, headquartered in Rome,is the largest humanitarian organizationin the world. To date, the rally has sup-ported World Food Programs in Jordan. It has been unclear whether new WFPprograms will be supported in 2012.

There is also the chance to provide aidprojects in the destination country orgive support and help to the countriesthrough which the rally passes. In anycase, great care is taken when selectingthe aid projects and the motto remains;“helping so others can help themselves.”

And the selection of partners and spon-sors requires a high degree of sensitivityand vision so as not to endanger or evendestroy the spirit – and the real meaningof the rally. MAHA is certainly proud tobe part of it!

It is a very special kind of rally, comparable perhaps with an Oldtimer and Youngtimer rally, that starts on April 28 for the 7th time in Oberstaufen in Allgäu and ends in Amman, Jordan. That was the original plan. But due to the uncertain political situation in Jordan it will notbe the destination in 2012. Only the award ceremony will most likely take place in Jordan– a tribute to the country that has supported the rally from the beginning. This year’s destination will be in Baku, Azerbajian, directly at the Caspian Sea.

Allgäu-Orient-Rally rules:• A team consists of 6 members, at start

only 2 persons may occupy the car. Acar – or all – may be replaced by 2 mo-torcycles each with 1 driver.

• The vehicles must be at least 20 years oldor may not exceed a value of € 1,111.11

• After the rally the WFP (World Food Pro-gram, a sub-organization of the UN) be-come official owner of the vehicles. Aidprograms are then financed with theproceeds from the sale of the vehicle.

• The nightly accomodations on the tripmay not exceed € 11.11 per night andperson.

• The use of navigation or other GPS de-vices is prohibited.

• Also no motorways or ferries may beused.

• A maximum of 666 km/day may bedriven.

• Only those teams will be scored whoarrive with at least 1 vehicle and all per-sons.
