able to accomplish more in your life then perhaps you ever dreamed. Though it may

seem a digression, it is not. The Magical Pendulum speaks to us thorugh our

subconscious mind.

The Power of the subconscious is not mysticism or some new age revelation, it's

simply a power we all of possess, but few use to its potential. You see, here is the key,

our subconscious is designed with a singular purpose. Without distraction, without ever

considering a 'leave of absence' or suffering a bad day, your subconscious plods

steadily along in order to complete a set of particular tasks. It's simple really, but herein

lies the secret, your subconscious does not make any judgments on whether thesetasks are good or bad, moral or devious, only that they are accomplished..

Our conscious mind on the other hand deliberates, forms opinions, reasons, plots,

plans, figures, contemplates and decides. And, our conscious mind, when properly

trained, can program (almost like software) the subconscious part of the brain. Being

the computer age, you've probably heard the expression, "garbage in, garbage out".

The purpose of this book is to show you how to program your subconscious mind with

good, positive, helpful suggestions, and by so doing make use of The Magical

Pendulum to itss greatest degree. With your own subconscious mind running at full tilt,

but in the direction of your choosing, youll easily be able to rise above a the

adversities of life.

Just as there are ingredients that make up a perfectly cooked meal, there are

ingredients essential to personal success. Two important ones are attitude and goals.

If you're reading this, we know you have the right attitude. Why? Because you desire to

learn more about the cosmos works. Of course, not having met you personally, I don't

know your goals, but it is important that you have them.

We are all captains of our own ships, masters of our own destiny, set your sights on

Through research and better understanding of the mind and human behavior, it is well

hundreds of times more efficient at any endeavor they choose.

That faculty lies in the area of releasing their fears, removing their self-imposed or

this power has been given a variety of names, we could give it a fancy title but well

stick with the traditional, self-hypnosis.

Yes... You may wonder why we suggest that you use self-hypnosis as

a method to exercise your greater potential. The reason is simple. No

matter what books you've read or which programs or classes you've

taken; whether you practice Yoga, meditate, pray to God, practice

eastern philosophies, or follow strict fundamental Christian doctrines;

the bottom line is that any method by which you tap and express your

subconscious knowledge is essentially and clinically, a form of self-

When you see the pictures, you not only remember the events of the day, but you also

relive the emotions you felt - the warmth of friends, the aroma of the sea, or the carefree

feeling of the day. When we think to "capture the moment", the real medium of

communication is emotion, not just images.

It's a cool crisp morning, and the dim light of dawn is still hours away. Yet, no one sleeps;

instead there is a frenzy of activity. News teams shuffle their feet and hover close-by

waiting for something momentous to occur. And then it does. Three oddly clad men walk

cumbersomely toward the news cameras and wave. If this weren't the 20th century, we'd

surely think this was the movie set of a science fiction film, or perhaps real visitors from

another planet.

The three men are dressed in white lumbering spacesuits, with bubble view helmets

hiding their grinning faces. But this is no movie, nor is this a visit from E.T.. These men

belong to us; they are the astronauts of our first NASA Space Shuttle craft, Spaceship

Columbia.

The three men are guided into a small motor home and driven toward the steaming

spaceship, glaring in the predawn spotlights. News commentators flash intelligent smiles

and spin their rhetoric about this monumental event. Although we are well into the space

age, we've walked the moon, and we've had communication satellites in orbit for

decades; never has a spaceship taken off from earth with the expectation of returning to

land like an airplane, on a runway.

Years have gone into the planning, testing and finally the execution of this event. Men

and women have dreamed (imagined) of man living and working in outer space and this

event adds to the foundations of those realizations.

The technical specifications for Columbia would cause anyone to draw a quiet breath.

The rocket reaches 184 feet into the sky and weighs four and one half million pounds. Is

it possible for this Goliath to actually hurl itself past the tendrils of gravity?

As a nation we whisper good wishes, both dreaming it could be us, and grateful it's not.

The spaceship holds a half million pounds of fuel and is expected

to generate five million pounds of thrust which will catapult

Columbia to an altitude of 23 miles in only two minutes. But 23

miles is only the beginning; the climb would continue till the earth

stood shimmering in the golden light of our sun, altitude 189

miles. By the time it reached this orbital altitude it would be

traveling 17,000 miles per hour a speed we cannot even imagine

on the surface of earth.

"Columbia, this is Houston, countdown is continuing in T-minus

10,.......9,........8,........7,........" People around the world held their breath.

"6,........5,.......4,........3,........., we have pre-ignition sequence,.....2,.........1.......

Columbia l i f ted on a whi te hot column of f i re that was heralded as one of the

greatest displays of energy the world had ever seen. America and the world, listened as

the spaceship clawed upward toward the cold vacuum of space. One hundred and

thirteen times it circled and radioed messages of success to a waiting world. For seven

days it rode the airless currents before descending into the blistering heat of reentry.

Feverishly hot it entered the atmosphere, using small maneuvering rockets to align

perfectly with the salt flat runway below. A spaceship had slipped the surly bonds of

earth then returned on metal wings to bring the stars and the universe a bit closer to

home.

Imagination accomplished this. Imagination, coupled with the work necessary to buildher, had sent a spaceship into orbit and successfully returned her to earth.

The space shuttle, with it millions of parts and thousands of separate systems, is an

excellent example of how the individual and collective imaginations of many persons can

be combined to create an immensely complex modern technological miracle.

If the seed had not been planted in the imagination, Columbia would never have flown.

Sure it took work, but first it took imagination. Certainly it took money, but first it took

imagination. The subconscious mind is home to the imagination. There is nothing youcannot accomplish if you set YOUR SUBCONSCIOUSmind to it.

"Wait ! " you s ay, " I 've got a st rong wi l l , and if I say I'm going to do something, by

George I'll do it." Perhaps you will, as long as the subconscious is backing you up. In

other words, the conscious mind has the ability to reason and decide on what direction to

take. It cannot however, put the decision into action without the subconscious agreeing

and directing its energy toward this goal. Put another way, when there is a conflict of will

power vs. the subconscious, the subconscious will win every time.

In just a moment we will delve into the mysteries of The Magical Pendulum, it is

important that you allow your subconscious mind to be open, free and clear and that you

do not impose your thinking on the outcome of your experiments.

AS OLD A S TIME

How long has man trekked across planet earth? Estimates vary widely but one thing is

certain, it is a mere glimmer on the cosmic scale. Yet, throughout the years, since the

very dawn of man, he has attempted to gain a release from pain and fear. First, by

appealing to mysterious, omnipotent forces, which through the centuries assumed a

myriad of shapes and guises as diverse and changing as the wind. Man built idols and

temples to appease these gods he created. He offered sacrifices trusting that the forces

he feared might be satisfied and look upon him with favor.

Through time, the stronger, and often more clever among men rose to become leaders,

chiefs or priests. Through incantations and contrived rituals, the priests interpreted the

unexplainable manifestations of the gods. They helped their subjects feel connected to

their gods, and they used the power of suggestion to motivate their people through

tribulation and toward progress. These chiefs, priests, and holy men were, to some

degree the first hypnotists of history.

THE MAGICAL PENDULUM OF THE ORIENT ANDHOW TO USE IT

The room was located in a fashionable section. The lights were dim. On each side of a

table sat two women, one holding a pendulum over a chart in front of her. The pendulum

began to sway.

"The answer is YES" The woman holding the pendulum seemed almost in ecstasy.

"You don't really believe in that thing, do you"? Her Friend who was watching the

experiment inquired.

"Certainly I do," came the replyr. "Why last month when I wanted to know if my husband

was going to get that new job the answer came through absolutely correct. He did! I use

the pendulum constantly for answering my questions"

And that woman is far from alone in her confidence in the psychical device, for "The

Magical Pendulum" as it is called is used for prophesying all over the world and

especially popular in the mystical lands of the Orient.

There are old saying about the "Wheels of Fortune" and "as the pendulum

swings" that refer to predicting. Whether one hundred percent of the people accept

such answer as authentic is naturally problematical, but one thing is certain, THE

MAGICAL PENDULUM OF THE ORIENT, if not the oldest form of divination in the

world, in one form or another, is certainly one of the most popular.

In the Philippines, with their American heritage, it is presented in its more or less

conventional form in association with "Table Tipping" demonstrations.

In Hong Kong, a device like a forked "d iv in ing rod" is used. This is held between the

hands of the medium and dips, gyrates, knocks, and marks its message on a tray of

sawdust in drawn symbols.

In Taiwan, The Red Swastika Society makes use of the device in the form of "The Sand

Board" and their psychic artist performs a type of automatic painting with, what he calls,

his "Spi r i tual Brush" .

In Vietnam, before the war, with its French background, the Caodaists originally made

use of the "Corbeille a Bec", an inverted basket affair used in France for spirit

communication years back. And, of course, in America the well known "Ouija Board" has

been immensely popular. All of these varieties of devices make use of " the magic

pendulum pr inc iple, " and are designed to objectify man's psychic powers through

amplification of physical movement in a visible manifestation of his subconscious

impressions.

It was while studying in the Far East that we became particularly Interested in "The

Magical Pendulum" and learned details of the Oriental methods of its operation. In this

manuscript, we shall give you complete instruction for its operation so that you canexperiment with it yourself.

The abi l i ty of a physical device, held in or related to the hand of the medium, to

come to "life" and impart messages of psychic origin has long been popular in occult

circles, both in ancient and modern times. Skeptics will say that the entire phenomena is

produced by subliminal, or subconscious, muscular movement on the part of the medium

which in turn imparts movement to the adjacent device. Of course such is true, but the

important thing is not how the movements are produced, but rather what message or

knowledge is imparted by the movements, for all of these devices are but varieties of by

passing the conscious mind and tapping the subconscious, the seat of extra sensory

perceptive powers. Seemingly, the only innate characteristic of all such devices are that

they be sensitive to and provide means of amplifying these subconscious movements.

Over the entire Orient there is a great and general belief in spiritism and the direct

communication with spirits. To many, such as the Caodaists and the Red Swastikas,

they feel their communication are directly with the High Spirit of God and his Saints,

while the Filipinos consider their work communications with the departed dead, and the

more primitive tribe of Oriental Aborigines commune with the evil spirits (demons) whom

they seek to placate. The more scientifically minded tend to over ride these spirit

communication on thoughts of causation, and use these devices for studies in man'spsychic skills.

In our own exper iment ing , we have found that the "direction of the efforts" of the

particular groups involved invariably influences greatly the direction the phenomenon

takes. The Biblical quotation of, "Seek and ye shal l f ind" , seem to apply directly

here in that such occult searchers seem to find precisely that for which they search.

Personally, our concern is not so much with an explanation of the basic causation of the

phenomena as it is in the value of the knowledge imparted by the communications. Our

search is for truth, and has brought us some absorbing techniques for using "The

Magical Pendulum" as we shall here discuss. Very possibly your own use of it will bring

yet further interesting methods and insights to light.

For the sake of clearness, these instructions in experimenting with

"THE MAGIC PENDULUM" will be very direct. First,how do you

make a pendulum? Nothing could be simpler. Take a ten inch length

of string, or thread, and tie on its end a small weight. A small lead

fishing weight is ideal, or if more convenient, simply tie your finger ring

on the end.

Second,here is how to operate the pendulum. Hold the end of the thread between the

thumb and forefinger of your right hand. Just rest your arm comfortably on the table and

let the weight dangle down freely as you suspend the pendulum over the test (as will be

explained). Now, with your hand away and again let it dangle free by itself

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES TRY TO DELIBERATELY SWING IT

YOURSELF. YOU SIMPLY REMAIN AS PASSIVE AN AGENT AS YOU

POSSIBLY CAN, L ETTING THE PENDULUM TAKE ON MOTION AS IT WILL.

Third, follow these instructions and try a few experiments of the many things the

pendulum can accomplish.

1. Determining Sex . Hold the pendulum

over the hand of a woman and it will

commence to swing around and around in a

CIRCLE. Hold it over the hand of a man, and

it will commence swinging BACK AND

FORTH along the length of the hand.

The same indications of SEX hold true over

any object associated with either male or

female, likewise the same is true with a possession of an object belonging to either a

man or a woman. By this process it is possible for you to tell the sex of the owner of any

article even though such is entirely unknown to yourself.

This principle of sex determination by the pendulum appears to go on down through the

animal world, for when held over the body of an animal it will indicate at once the sex of

that particular animal, swaying in a circle if female, and back and forth if male. Even over

an unhatched egg, the Pendulum will indicate the sex of the unborn creature within.

2. Locat ing the Posit ion of A Person . Upon a piece of paper, draw a straight line

about an inch in length, while thinking of the particular individual that mark is meant to

represent.

The inst ruct ions above about th ink ing of the part icular indiv idual whi le

forming the mark that represents that indiv idual is impl ied in the l i teral

sense.

It is not necessary to concentrate towards the person especially or to even so much as

have personal acquaintanceship with the individual concerned. It being sufficient to

merely have the knowledge that to you the

line you draw tends as a representations or

deliberate symbolization of that particular

personality. This externalization of

identification through the use of an objective

representation is a vital principle in the

operating of the pendulum.

(NOTE: This symbolization of persons and things has its counterparts through all formsof cabalistic magic both black and white.)

Now suspend the pendulum over this mark, and it will immediately swing in indication of

the sex of the individual in question. Next bit by bit slowly rotate the paper (on its own

axis under the pendulum so that your drawn line will point in different directions of the

compass. When that line points in the direction of the current location of the person

represented by the line itself, the pendulum will cease its swinging motion, and come to a

dead stop. Then following the direction of that line will lead you to the person.

3. Tell ing Whether a Person i s Liv ing o r Dead, Even Though the Person is

Lost and the body Destroyed.Again draw your line representing the person under

consideration. And, as in the case of locating the position of an individual, suspend the

pendulum over the mark (immediately you will get indication as to the sex of the person)

as you rotate the paper beneath. If the pendulum ceases swinging at some point in the

rotation of the paper in a circle, it indicates that the person is still among the living. If,

however, the person is dead, the pendulum will still swing in indication of sex, its

movement will not cease, no matter in what direction you turn the representation.

4. Answer ing Quest ions with the Pendulum . Whatever question you desired

answered always frame that question in your mind so it can be answered with a positive

or negative (YES or NO) response. Then make your mark as representation of your

question, and suspend the pendulum over it. If the answer to the question is in the

affirmative, the pendulum will commence to swing. If the question involves a woman it

will rotate; if a man, swing back and forth, and if neutral, will swing as the sex of the

individual holding the device. If the answer to the question is in the negative, the

pendulum will dangle motionless.

Now here a re some re f inements in your

exper iment ing w i t h the dev ice :

Test ing the Response of the Pendulum. In placing the pendulum over a

representation mark" always still its movements so it dangles perfectly motionless. From

that point on, let it gather motion as it will. If,

as an example, in answering of questions, the

pendulum remains motionless, it indicates the

answer is in the negative, and you can always

test this response by deliberately swinging it

over the mark; for, when left to itself, it will

again quickly return to center and hang

motionless. If, on the other hand, the answer

to the question is positive, the pendulum will almost immediately leave its resting point at

center and commence to sway, and a deliberate swinging on your part will only tend to

accentuate the innate movements of the pendulum itself.

Pred ic t ing the Fu tu re w i th the Pendu lum. Not only will the

pendulum respond to the immediate, but it will likewise bridge time and predict that which

is yet to occur. Here again, frame your question of future knowledge so it can be

answered by a positive or negative indication and suspend the pendulum over the

question's "Mark of Representation. It will swing readily if the answer is YES, and hang

motionless if it is NO.

Obtaining Detai ls of Quest ions. Although, for obvious reasons, it is only passable

for the pendulum to indicate positive and negative responses, by working over the

question, and carefully framing questions that pertain to details of the central question,

allowing the pendulum to indicate the answer to each in turn, it becomes possible to

obtain details of the facts desired. Let us take a hypothetical question and consider it in

detail. For example, "When Will John Return?"

The quest ion is f i rs t f ramed, Wi l l Joh n return?"

The pendulum is then dangled over the "mark of representation" of that question.

If the response is positive, the question is now framed, "Wi l l John return th is

year?" over the 'mark of representation" now made for that specific phase of the

question.

Suppose the response is again posi t ive , the question is then refined (and each

refinement, right on down the line, is always indicated on the paper by making its own

specific "mark of representation"), "Will John return in January?" Suppose a NO

response is indicated. The question is then asked, Will John return in February?", and so

on down the months of the year until the pendulum swings in a positive indication,

affirming that to be the month of John's return. The process can then be further refined,

working over each day of that particular month, until a positive indication reveals the day

of the month of John's return as well.

Owing to i ts importance, I repeat, in this process of thus refining a question to

obtain specific details, always remember that each refinement of the question must be

put down in its own individual "Mark of representation", and worked over individually thus

proceeding, step by step, until the desired knowledge is obtained.

Pendulum Revelat ions. There appears to be no limit to the information that the

pendulum can reveal, provided all questions are framed so they can be answered in a

YES or NO response, and each question, and detail of each question, be represented on

paper by a drawn line ("Mark of Representation") over which the pendulum may be

suspended awaiting its response.

Such capaci t ies read l ike the powers of the legendary " 'A laddin ' Lamp" .In

fact by skillfully combining the powers invested in this Magic Pendulum Principle there

appears little under heaven that is not revealable to man. Of course the crux of the

matter lies in the intelligence of the individual in relation to the knowledge he seeks, and

in the combining, with skill, the powers basic to this MAGIC PENDULUM

PRINCIPLE.

Indiv idual i ty in Working the Pendulum. Although the reactions of the pendulum

can be somewhat standardized, its degree of response will vary with different operators.

Some will find that they can work it immediately, others that it seems not to react at all.

To some it will grow into an ability of great depth of value, while to others it will prove of

only superficial interest. However, using the pendulum principle is a skill capable of

development, and sincere patience and practice will bloom further into startling results.

1. The Psychological Theory . Every thought or idea which we hold in our mind

makes an impression on our bodies, and when that thought, or idea, is centered in our

field of attention, it quickly leads to a motor response or action. The pendulum, being a

delicately balanced device (as are all such devices used to record such responses),

dangling from the extremity of the fingers, is certainly in a superior position to catch every

breath of such responses (such is termed, ideomotion response or action) being

transmitted subconsciously through the nerves and muscles of the arm and hand where

the pendulum registers them in visible vibration.

On the basis of th is theory, the extraordinary powers that lie in the use of the

MAGIC PENDULUM PRINCIPLE reside in the vast realm of memory images and

This could imply a great deal if one is to believe that such is the storehouse of man's

extra sensory powers (E.S.P.), and/or, as some metaphysicians believe, that it is the

pathway to the Universal Mind Principle, which leads us directly to

2. The Paraphilosphy Theory . The Magic Pendulum Principle is a method of

reaching through to the Almighty, and illustrating man's relationship to and with Him, in

His universal sense as the pervading force of

eternal vibration through all matter.

Try th is exper iment : Draw a cross, and

place the pendulum over the point where the

two lines of the cross meet. You will find that

the pendulum will first swing north and south,

then rotate negatively, then swing East and

West, then rotate positively. Then it will

recommence the cycle, and will continue it

without variations.

Now, make a "mark of representat ion",in the form of a straight line on the paper,

while holding reverent thought of God and the Eternal, and observe the swinging of the

pendulum. Its movement is beautiful.

It is as though He spoke, saying,

" I wi l l never leave you, but wi l l s tay always c lose to your thought o f me".

Not ice how the pendulum hugs the l ine, at the same time making the cycle of

movement as you observed at the center of the cross. The movements in this case,

however, will be of less amplitude and will alternate more quickly, and the vibration

instead of showing North and South, East and West, will follow the line, and a line at right

angle to it; the two movements spontaneously making the sign of the cross. Indeed, the

Magic Pendulum Principle would seem to be a medium of making visible the invisible,

and the indicator that the Universal and Eternal Principles visible to our reason have their

counterpart in the physical world as rendered visible in the movements of the device.

Very likely an artful combining of both of these theories bring us the closest to the truth.

Experimental Evidence with the Pendulum. Let us conclude this manuscript with

this last consideration, prefaced by these comments of A. Voysey, a French researcher

on the subject:

something ought to be publ ished as soon as possible. But the

reader is asked to remember that in a new and extraordinary

study of th is k ind, there must necessar i ly be a growth of

the human being as the main agent in the use of the pendulum,the subject can hardly be treated as an exact science, and it is

qui te possible that we may have to face conf l ic t of resul ts , not

only owing to perennial d i f ferences in the observers, but due

also to lack of exper ience with regard to possible causes of

interference. Whatever we have yet to learn in the use of the

pendulum, the powers already revealed in i t are most

ext raordinary and i l luminat ing in human exper ience, and no

excuse is necessary for an earnest considerat ion of i ts pow ers."

While it is true that the human factor is interposed in experimenting, as A. Voysey

points out, that need be no barrier to a scientific study of the subject.

Precisely as exper imental psychology cont inual ly has to meet that

chal lenge and r ise above i t , so is su ch possi ble in pendulum research.For

in the pendulum we have a tangible, material agent, a recording machine as it were, and

while what it records is, of itself, introspective, its records are decidedly objective, and, as

such capable of not only observation, but even statistical checking

Systematic experimenting with the pendulum and/or the varieties of devices that

make use of its principle should involve the keeping of careful records of its responses,

and then checking against the correctness or failures of its indications, thus determining

its percentages of accuracy both in relation to itself as an instrument, and its various

operators. Ramification of such tests can go in all directions from the determination of

sex, location of persons, determining live names from dead. Accuracy of the answers to

questions pertaining past, present, and future, and even on into the parapsychology field

by using the pendulum as an instrument of telepathic reception and clairvoyant insight.Experiments can even proceed, for those so minded, to attempted communication with

spirits, down through the entire gamut of capabilities credited, in the many countries of

the world, to the various form of application of this universal pendulum principle. Here,

indeed, is a great opportunity for research.

deserves no criticism, for the evidence of its truth or fallacy are clearly evident for all to
