TRANSMAG 2 AC Flowmeter.A Siemens Exclusive.
Thanks to its pulsed alternatingfield system, the TRANSMAG 2 iscapable of measuring where con-ventional DC field technology cannot, like in applications involving:
High concentrated pulp stock Heavy mining slurries Mining slurries with magnetic
particals
The alternating field technology
generates a much stronger magne-tic field within the sensor compa-red to DC technology. This is why itmeasures more reliably and withgreater precision even when themedia has a high concentration ofsolids.
Thanks to its patented signal inte-gration, the TRANSMAG 2 providesonly the real flow measurement byremoving unwanted electrodenoise from the sensors signal. With the pulsed AC technology, itspossible to have a stable zero-point, thereby a reliable and accu-rate measurement.

Rugged in design and unaffectedby electrode noise, disturbances orvibration, Siemens MAGFLO flow-meters for the mineral industry canbe easily installed virtually any-where.
All models produce accurate andrepeatable results, contributingto improved quality-based perfor-mance.
Slurries
The high energy magnetic fieldgenerated with pulsed AC techno-logy provides a powerful signalideal for measuring high concen-trations of slurries.
Magnetic particles no problemMagnetic particles in the mediawill boost the magnetic field inthe flowmeter and course a mis-reading. To overcome this, theTRANSMAG 2 is designed with asecond compensating coil circuit.
Maximum protectionTheres a solution for everyabrasive media application, butthe choice of material is crucial to
protect the flowmeter. Besides inletprotection rings, Siemens offers awide range of liner and electrodematerials. Especially the softLINATEX rubber and the NOVOLAKliner have proven themselves inthese harsh environments.
Mining Industry
Siemens MAGFLO and TRANSMAG 2flowmeters offer exceptional valuefor pulp & paper applications. Theyare well-suited for any flow applica-tions even with high solids contentand are ready to take on yourtoughest applications no matterhow challenging they may be!

Through in-depth analysis, Siemens has identified the parameters whichinfluence the accuracy of a flowmeter operating in the real world.
These parameters are checked using a unique, patented verification techniquefor MAGFLO flowmeters. Testing at WRc proved the accuracy of the verifica-tion result for a complete flowmeter.
WRc, Water Research Centre is a leading, independent research, technology and
consultancy company with a reputation for scientific and technical excellence.
WRc has over 15 years of experience in instrument testing and evaluation. WRcs full
report, UC3600 March 2000, is available for inspection.
Transmitter TestThe transmitter test is a flow simu-lation test that checks the wholeelectronic system from signal inputto output. Using the magnetic fieldenergy, the Verificator simulates aflow signal to the transmitter input.
By measuring the transmitter out-put, the Verificator calculates itsaccuracy against factory definedvalues.
Flowmeter Insulation TestThe verification test of the flowme-ter insulation is a "cross-talk" test ofthe entire flowmeter. It ensuresthat the sensor flow signal is unaf-fected by external influences.
In this test, the Verificator genera-tes a high voltage disturbance wit-hin the coil circuit and then looksfor any "cross-talk" induced in theflow signal circuit. By generatingdynamic disturbances close to the
flow signal the flowmeter is testedfor noise immunity to a maximumlevel.
Sensor Magnetism TestThe verification of the sensor mag-netism is a "boost" test of the mag-
netic field coil. It ensures that themagnetism behaviour compares toits original behavior by comparingthe current sensor magnetism withthe "fingerprint" determined duringinitial calibration and stored in theSENSORPROM.
In the "Boost" test the Verificatorchanges the magnetic field patternand uses high voltage to get quickstable magnetic condition.
CertificateAn authorized, signed certificatedocuments the verification andincludes: Test result with pass or failed
approval Installation specification Flowmeter specification and
configuration Verificator specification with
date of calibration ensuringtraceability to national andinternational standards.
