Rules and Regulations“that the regulation of editorial content in the media should be independent of government;

that media content regulation, whether national or regional in its coverage, should be based on nations’ differing cultures;

that the writing of Codes of journalistic ethics and their administration is the business of journalists and publishers, who take into account public feelings, and not the business of governments;

Above are the rules and regulations for the magazine industry. They are copied exactly from another A-level students blog as I did not want to change them by putting them into my own words as I wanted to show them exactly the way they are. By reading these rules and regulations I will be able to see and learn how the magazine industry works and what rules and regulations need to be followed. It will also help me to think when I am making my magazine what rules and regulations are generally followed.

What are they used and needed for?These rules and regulations are very important towards the magazine industry and put barriers on certain topics. In the magazine industry these barriers are likely to cover the topics of ‘writing’ and content’. One type of regulation for the magazine industry is internal and provides the magazine industry with a ‘style’ guide. This ‘Style guide’ is put into most magazines and is provided to every single journalist apart of the production of the magazine. The ‘style guide’ then shows the writer the correct way of writing appropriately for that magazine. This could be done in may ways such as the words used, typography, colour etc.. However, regulations such as these are not all positive as they hold some major barriers such as the writers choice.
