JOBURG WELCOMES NEW YEAR IN PRAYER

The streets around the church were packed with Amasosha, from Wolmarans, Claim, and all the way arouns Smit Street.

AmaSosha rolled the three coloured cloth (red, white and blue) in their hands inviting the angels of war, peace and the angel of the church to change their situations and usher them with glory into the year ahead, the year of Change.

Johannesburg – Prophet Radebe of the Revelation Church of God (RCG) ushers in 2015 offering words of wisdom, courage, light and hope as the world begins a new year.

“The year 2015 is the year of change and we have to reflect on the past and make a positive change.

Prophet Radebe emphasized the importance of being in the house of God when beginning a new year rather than being engulfed in worldly matters to multitudes gathered around the streets surrounding the 18th century building.

Many of whom had been waiting for the service since the early hours of the new year’s eve, Wednesday 31st December.

The Revelation Church of God dedicates the New Year’s Eve to gather in the presence of God. Prophet Radebe said: “There are many who are at parties right now. There are many who are drinking. Many of them wish to have a great 2015, as we are in the last hours of the end of 2014.

However, we are here gathered for you God because we cannot begin the New Year without you. We are here to start the New Year with a focus on the spiritual discipline of obedience.The world does not understand the true secret that is hidden in John 15. Jesus said, “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that does not produce fruit. He also trims every branch that produces fruit to prepare it to produce even more.”

Sosha, you have already been prepared to produce more fruit by the teachings I have given you. Jesus taught that we should stay joined to Him and He will stay joined to us.

No branch can produce fruit alone. It must stay connected to the vine. It is the same with you. You cannot produce fruit alone. You must stay joined…”

I tell you that when you are in Christ and Him in you, you will be fruitful. Without God’s help we are incapable. Our own plans for life are impossible without His blessing. God probably finds it funny when we think we have our lives together and all figured out.”

The Revelation Church of God is fruitful because of understanding and obeying the words shared in John 15.

A prophet is not honoured in his own country. RCG was previously shunned and insulted in Zimbabwe but now it is being acknowledged and honoured, I am honoured.

I was honoured by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), because of obeying the prophetic words of God in John 15. Honour comes to you when you become an instrument of the Holy Spirit. The secret of you succeeding in the year of change is by obeying the Holy Spirit and being in control of yourself,” shared, Prophet.

“2015 is the year of change and we cannot expect change to happen over night without putting effort. Change starts with simple things in order for them to create mass change. It is important for us to set goals that are within our levels and abilities so that we can achieve them and after that work harder”, emphasized Prophet Radebe.

The Revelation Church of God’s main branch iconic building located at 126 Wolmarans & Claim Streets in Johannesburg used to be the Great Synagogue is turning 101 years.

It has been home to the Revelation Church of God since 2009. The shul opened its doors in 1914 – it was seen as the mother synagogue of Johannesburg Jewry. It was at the shul building that Schaerer, the engineer-architect and late product of the age of eclecticism, was inspired to adopt Byzantine prototypes for the orchestration of volumetric space suitable in scale for a congregation of 1 400 people

Quite ironically, it became the mother of the Revelation Church of God in 2009, after the Jew congregants decided to leave house. They were driven out by crime in the area after 1994.

It closed its door in 1994 after 80 years and now it is the place that everyone including criminal and prostitutes find their way back to worshipping God. The Revelation Church of God stands as a symbol of the union of nations. It is modeled on Hagia Sophia in Istabul.

From 1913 to 1914, the Great Synagogue was under construction on a whole city block bounded by Wolmarans, Claim, Quartz and Smit Streets.Courtesy of Great Park Synagogue

The Great-Park Synagogue replaced the Wolmarans Street Shul in the Johannesburg CBD. It closed down in 1994 after 80 years. The new Shul is in Houghton, Johannesburg.
