Amidst cases of female foeticide and women suppression of all forms, two young Indian

women, literally climbed mountains for the girl child and women empowerment.

We too are girls, with roots in one of the most conservative rural

areas of Northern India with one of the worst sex ratios and

heinous gender violence. We feel the pain of the blatant and

epidemic violation of our girls’ human rights.

Tashi and Nungshi Malik, the world’s first twins who under a mission named “mission2for7”

conquered Mt Everest, Mt Elbrus, Mt Aconcagua, Mt Carstensz, Pyramid Mt McKinley and

Mt Kilimanjaro.

Their next target is to climb the highest peak of Antarctica

to become the first twins to climb all 7 summits.

Climbing Everest was a personal dream. But #mission2for7 was inspired by our concern for the girl

child and gender equality issues in the country.

The girls often discussed with each other as to how to amalgamate their passion for

mountaineering with a greater purpose so as to benefit the society at large. They met several

mountaineers who suggested that doing the “Seven Summits” was like entering the hall of

fame of mountaineers. Also there were no siblings who had done that before. So they took

onto the mission and have come out with flying colours.

The Malik sisters wish to promote mountaineering as a sport in India, especially for girls. By their world records in mountaineering, an area that requires extreme physical and mental

capabilities and involves very high degree of risks. They want to show that girls can compete

with men even in areas traditionally seen as „men‟s forte‟ and even stay ahead. And by this,

they want to shatter some of the stereotypes about girls. By their achievements and the consequent media interest, they want to send the message of gender equality and the fight

against female foeticide.

They wish to start a charitable society by name of „NungshiTashi Foundation‟ by which they can help girl empowerment and development of outdoor sports. They are also looking forward to operationalise their long cherished 'mountaineers for peace‟ project. Tashi and Nungshi may also write a book on “mission2for7” that shall inspire young Indians for a very long time.

Many parents, especially in rural India still consider boys as the only off springs. These sisters

put down such thoughts. They have proved that girls are as competent as men even if we

consider the so-called „men sports‟.

In some areas of India, the girl child is caught in a vicious cycle of foeticide & infanticide, denial,

exclusion, malnutrition, lack of education, domestic work and eventual economic dependence

on the male. These twins are an inspiration to such girls. They encourage them to dream and achieve big goals and help them land on their feet.

“To us, climbing Mt Everest affirms our long held belief, „dream big, and then achieve it‟. That‟s what characterizes the young Indians of 21st century!”

FOLLOW FIRST Great followers submit to the overall good of the team and the leader. As top-down, autocratic models of leadership fade and new models of shared leadership emerge, it will be crucial for primary leaders to know when to step forward to lead and when to step back and follow. IT TAKES TIME You don't become an effective leader in a day, you become an effective leader daily. You build your credibility through the ups and downs. Things like loyalty, trust, and belief take time to grow and develop. There aren't any shortcuts. EQ > IQ The good news is that you don't have to be the smartest person in the room to be a good leader. It's your ability to engage and connect with others that will determine your effectiveness. Good leaders have a sense of the culture and the vibe of the team. They know how to relate well to people. They have common sense and know how to establish common ground with others. IT'S NOT A SECRET There isn't one perfect way to be a good leader. There are as many ways to lead as there are leaders. You will discover that things like character, consistency, and clarity are always valuable. Be authentic and you'll connect much easier with others. Learn to be your best self and you'll stand head and shoulders above those who try to be someone or something they're not. A TITLE IS A PLATFORM Congratulations on your new leadership title. Unfortunately, that's not what makes people want to follow you. We create titles and positions because they're necessary to get things done and to move things forward. You don't get a trophy for having a title. You get recognition because you actually did something worth celebrating.

I pondered & wrote upon this issue after one of my friends shared her worries.

Virtually every woman we know has this similar problem- she knows what's good for her, but she often doesn't take care of it. She knows she should take a better care of herself yet mostly she doesn't make healthy/right choices. She knows she needs to spend her time and money more effectively, but an efficient management of time and money elude her. She generally tends to place others first, while neglecting her own needs and wants. An endless to-do list hangs overhead like the sword of Damocles and then she often laments, "Why am I always riding in the back of my own bus?"

We don't do the things we know are good for us, thus neglecting the right course. The problem isn't lack of information - we have plenty of information. The fine trick lies are how we prioritize them in our lives.

Psychologists tell us that some people are inner-directed and some are other-directed. That is, some people focus on their own internal guidance system for making choices about how to spend their time and energy. Their self-interest ranks very high on their list of priorities. "What's best for me?" is a key guiding principle in determining where they focus their attention and how they make day-to-day decisions. And some people are ‘other-directed’, which means that their primary focus is external, not

internal. They are primarily concerned with relationships, especially people they care about. "How can I help others be happy?" is a key question in how they spend their time and energy. Building and nurturing relationships with loved ones, family, friends, neighbors and co-workers is the guiding principle in their lives.

Research indicates that, in general, men tend to be more inner-directed, while women tend to be more other-directed. There are exceptions, of course, but as a group, men are focused on themselves while women are focused on other people. Men like to build things while women like to build relationships.

This difference in psychological orientation goes a long way towards helping us understand why women often do such a poor job of taking care of themselves. We run around filling others' lamps with oil, but forget to fill our own lamps first. Then we wonder why we're often exhausted, frazzled, stressed-out, anxious and/or depressed. The bottom line is to strike a balance between the polarities of self & others. Though not easy, but this integrity and balance shall help achieve one's goals & purpose in life.

LOVE & LIGHT, RISE AND SHINE!

"The beginning is the most important part of a job"

People, who know how to make a good start, sustain and survive; People who overcome the trials and

tribulations and make their own way; People who know how to carve a way when all others see is dead end.

Those people are called Budding Entrepreneurs.

The path of budding entrepreneurs is not as easy as it seems in Bollywood movies.

The journey from rags to riches is impeded by obstacles and hurdles.

The world we live in is resource constraint. From natural resources to man power everything is limited. The

capability to tap the available resources and putting them to the best possible use is what a budding

entrepreneur comprises.

To make money, you need money. Any start up is impossible without finance. The ability to arrange a

significant amount of money when there is no big tag attached to you is an innate quality of a budding

entrepreneur.

In the struggle to success there are times when one is lured towards quick results. But since nothing in this

world comes without a price, the shortcut to success requires compromise on ethics. Also, this success is

short-lived. To not get tempted by such means is one of the greatest challenges for a budding entrepreneur.

No task is accomplished without perseverance and patience. Situations shall not always be favorable but a

budding entrepreneur should be patient enough to wait for the right time and daring enough to take risks.

A budding entrepreneur is not only able to handle his own problems; he has innovative ideas to combat the

problems of the society. His success does not solely lie in his own reputation but the comfort of his

consumers.

Bollywood has given us several movies that portray the lives of such entrepreneurs vividly. From ‘Band Baja

Barat’ telling a fictional tale of two budding entrepreneurs to ‘Guru’ which candidly reveals the life of an

entrepreneur who made a mark in the history of the nation.

To those budding entrepreneurs who wish to ask- "What should I follow?"

Nothing! You were born to lead and not follow. Pursue your passion, find your flow and trust your

instincts. Explore yourself and figure out what you are supposed to do next.

Wishing for your life a gift of entrepreneurship, passion and all the success you desire!

Warriors Who Fight Garbage in India WASTE WARRIORS is an NGO based in Dehradun. It is literally fighting

the garbage problem in India. With projects in Dehradun, Dharamsala and

Corbett, the NGO is committed to cleaning up India. It is doing its bit with

the help of volunteers and the results are very encouraging.

The Genesis

The NGO was founded by Jodie Underhill (from UK; popular as ‘Garbage Girl’ in Dehradun) and

Mumbai girl Tashi Pareek in 2012. They started igniting change in a country where littering is

considered normal human behaviour. Way back in 2009 they mobilised volunteers to clean the

mountain town of Dharamsala; the group they had then started was called Mountain Cleaners.

They never looked back since that nucleus event when they realised how much change a small

group of volunteers with a common cause could make. Today Waste Warriors operates on a

shoestring budget and has 21 Waste Workers. But it is the volunteer, public support for any

cleanup event that is also an important factor in its strategy.

The Works, The Creativity

Waste Warriors is attempting to change the garbage scene in India through sustainable waste

management practices at the grassroots. It has been making small changes with volunteer

support and little resources in the three places where the NGO has projects apart from

impacting waste management at events (including popular marathons like Chennai and

Hyderabad) and pilgrimages. Waste Warriors has projects in Dharamsala (every week they go to

2900 mts to Triund top from McLeodganj in the Dhauladhar range to collect and segregate waste

which later comes down on mules; do door to door waste collection), Dehradun (city clean ups,

Gandhi Park cleanup, market sites transformation such as at Astley Hall and Anekant Palace)

and Corbett tiger reserve (promoting garbage segregation and composting among the fringe

villages and resorts; a project of immense ecological significance).

Waste Warriors creatively engages with children. At all its project locations, at least one

Children’s Day event is held in a month where local kids are invited to participate. For some

hours, they are given lessons in waste management creatively through fun games and paintings

along with refreshment.

BUDDING ENTREPRENEURS EDITION

Page 14: Magazine

WWW.ROUGHPOLISH.COM ©RoughPolish-2014

Murals are another creative feature of Waste Warriors working style. Its volunteers have created

eye-catching murals on public walls. Sadly they get defaced from time to time by businesses and

political posters. Waste Warriors has received a number of awards and recognitions for its work.

How Can You Help

Waste Warriors constantly faces the problem of

resources not matching its aspirations and the

work volume. It could do wonders if it has the

finances. Most recently it even sent out plea on

its facebook pages for the urgently needed

contribution for Corbett project and T-shirt

sponsorship. You can contribute financially to

Waste Warriors and also work as a volunteer with

them. Your old shoes, water filters, cameras,

laptops, support for stray animals (yes, they run

into street animals as they work with garbage

and Jodie Underhill’s home and office sometimes

looks like a miniature wildlife sanctuary) would

also be of use for them.

See the website www.wastewarriors.org for

more, email them at [email protected]

and check out their four facebook pages. And DO

NOT FORGET to segregate waste at home (keep

three dustbins: recyclables (sell it), non

recyclables and food waste which you should use

to make compost and also inspire others for it).

That is how we could clean India.

Birth of “CRAZZY VENTURES”

“I am not young enough to know everything”, says Oscar Wilde and so this 20 year old boy too. Shivam Mishra from Hoshangabad, who was detained from college, was on psychiatrist help, criticized by friends, family and relatives, who challenges and questions everything so that he can find the most profound answers went on to envision a dream of becoming big by way of entrepreneurship and a mission to make the world more awesome and change mindsets and becoming rich enough to do what he loves. In the context of his big dreams he imagined a square, the irony behind is, “he thinks of most symmetrical shape with 4 partners of same sort”. He step ahead for his dream business and named it CrazZy 5 and then CrazZy Ventures. The name has its roots in the description of Shivam’s own self. Now, the time to complete remaining three sides of square or to look for his partners to Co- Found the company & helps him in bloom his dream. The search began with a Facebook chat with his first partner Chirag Dodiya based in Mumbai, a young serial entrepreneur with a common vision of impacting millions of lives. After 5 days of keen discussion about the dream and to turn it into reality

They started looking for the 3rd partner who began as a talk between Shivam and Nishant Sharma who was studying in MIT (Manipal) and settled in Gurgaon, a visionary and serial entrepreneur with an enriching experience of entrepreneurship. At 4 A.M. Shivam tried to speak with Nishant which didn’t worked out instantly. Nishant was always a fan of collaboration and realized that he shared the similar dream of joining many business networks under the same umbrella with his start-up, Vifex Corporation. After a productive discussion for a whole week, he finally decided to take the journey as a Co-Founder & COO. He gave CrazZy Ventures, the tagline,

Collaborating to Create

Finally, search for last partner that ended at Avish Hakani, a young entrepreneur from Mumbai who believes “To Build Greater Future, you have to Build Greater Foundations Now.” Got in touch with Shivam, after sharing their stories and objectives they formed a connection of a vision about making lives better and helping entrepreneurs, Avish joined the journey with his passion of business and marketing. After a couple of weeks of Phone calls, Virtual meets and online chats they decided to meet up in person and kick start this journey together from the holy place of Shirdi and Launched CrazZy Ventures on Chirag’s Birthday on 28th July 2014. They all decided to dream CrazZy and Be CrazZy. These CrazZy streaks proved, “No matter how old you are now. You are never too young or too old for success or going after what you want”.

It is said that one of the most powerful things in the world is an idea. For an idea can ignite minds, create or change beliefs, and spread faster than wildfire.

Design Mafia was founded on an idea

An idea that is simple enough and yet powerful – to redesign processes in the

society. To create closed loop systems which will enable the society to be self-

sustainable, will enable it to have a new perspective of what it means to recycle

and what it means to be sustainable.

How their Journey Started?

The journey started when Saajan Varanasi, Co-Founder of Design Mafia, an Architecture Student from School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, Deepankar Biswas, Founder Director of Design Mafia, an architecture student from Babu Banarasi Das University, Lucknow, and Hirak Hatiboroah (Co-Founder) observed and thought about the tremendous amount of waste that was being generated in his day to day academic activities. A small struck. What if we can use them to make something and get back the value from it instead of just dumping it in the garbage? This idea nurtured, and evolved into the ideology that is Design Mafia. Soon joined in by his friends, Kokil Agarwal, Sashank Macharla, Abhishek Gwaskoti. Tejali Mangle, Sarthak Rajput & Pavan P. Design Mafia began evolving from an ideology into a more organized and concrete organization that it is now today. The team rapidly began to grow and now has a core

team that is 8 members strong and numerous regional units comprising of academics, professionals and students from all diverse streams numbering over 64 and counting, across India and also abroad, with a total force of more than 6000 members now.

More about Design Mafia

Design Mafia is a non-profit organization, founded and run entirely by the student community that is committed to a collective effort of social upliftment. The design mafia team specializes in literally finding the gems from trash and then up-cycle it to its true value. Our work would also include educating people in the cottage industry, in design and helping them grow with a more efficient design of their work product and market plans. We not only promote the concept of up-cycling in all our endeavors and benefit the society and the environment but we also give our members a chance to tackle challenges and groom them in a way to become the best managers in the country.

Our massive team works on a system of decentralization of operations, for better and more efficient administration, which would give different zones their own independence of working and usage of the revenue generated, thus promoting diversity and freedom in operations depending on the various regions and their own independent needs.

Moreover, we pride ourselves in maintaining a financial system that’s completely transparent, allowing people and members to track down everything on our website where all the financial transactions and details will be put up for everyone to see and will be maintained constantly.

“Entrepreneurship is not a choice, it just

happens” says the 25 year old inspiring,

digital media agency owner Sneh Sharma when she was asked

about how it all began. Born and been brought up in Shimla, a place where practically no

one thinks about entrepreneurship as a career, she moved to

Bangalore to chase her dreams and now she

has already founded two companies of her own and her current

venture called Ittisa is all set to rock the

market.

From the very beginning, Sneh did

not approve of conventional ideas. So

after working at various companies, she decided to set up her own. Sneh is a firm

believer in “I can do it

attitude” when it comes to achieving success at such an

early age where she is the youngest to make it

to the list of The Top 10 powerful Ladies in

the Indian Digital Media industry.

Sneh Sharma has also bagged the award of

top 50 Digital marketers in Asia by

Brand Congress

Her latest venture Ittisa (the word actually means “Ruler”) is four months old but has

received a dream start. They already have 8

girls in and plan to have about 50 more in the coming months. On

being asked about starting a girls‟

company, Sneh says, “We are the makers of brands so we didn‟t

want to take chances” (with a grin).

At Ittisa we place this kind of trust in their

capabilities and thus these women find it more comfortable to

work in a culture like ours”

She believes that the problem with women

entrepreneurs in India is the attitude with

which girls are brought up in India. “Since the very beginning girls are

told that they are delicate and not as competent as their

male counterparts. This hampers their

growth as individuals and they face various

problems. Girls should say no to all these

thoughts. They should rise up and if they

think they can, they surely can.”

For young and aspiring entrepreneurs in India, Sneh suggests them to „Just do it. Don‟t hold the horses back. Don‟t let negatives thoughts enter your mind. And

keep a positive attitude‟.

Chronic bone and soft tissue pain is a very common clinical problem. It can be disabling in those who do

not respond satisfactorily to analgesics or local steroids. Low frequency electromagnetic radiation has

been used for centuries since the time of Paracelsus to control pain and treat number of disorders.

Present work concerns with the development of wearable medical device by using Integrated circuits

and other electronics components to stimulate the nerves for therapeutic purposes. The designed

device is capable of generating static magnetic field and low frequency pulsed electromagnetic field by

employing unipolar and bipolar magnets aligned with the same magnetic pole towards the skin, also it

has special motors to deliver vibration of high frequency to the skin and deep tissue. Device works by

delivering small pulse of electricity to the surface of body via multiple electrodes attached to the skin

and also high and low frequency which has been used for transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation

therapy (TENS). Low frequency TENS of 3 Hz will produce endorphins and Increase blood flow also it

interrupts the transmission of nerve message to the brain thus relaxing pain. This way the designed

device took a step towards non-invasive, low-risk nerve stimulation intended to reduce pain, both acute

and chronic. The device was tested in terms of usability and feasibility the primary outcome measure

was reduction in overall pain ranges from nil to severe. Also the device possess a big advantage overall is

that it can be handled by person having limited technical skills.

THEY ARE INNOVATIVE. THEY ARE CREATIVE. THEY ARE FILMSPEAK!

STORY IN FOCUS

FilmSpeak is the platform that connects the aspiring students/ individuals, and the successful media personalities and film-makers across the globe.

After many years of trial and error, we finally set up our journey, in January 2014, and we have received positive responses from film-makers and audiences all across the globe! The most prestigious occasion for us was, when eminent film personalities thanked us for the coverage. We started off our journey simply from the minimum pocket money that we earned by working part-time! It is needless to say, that majority of our team-members are students, either pursuing graduation or post-graduation, and thus it is taking ample time to achieve stability, as we have not yet received any financial backings. The Brain of FilmSpeak is Arunima Basu, an MA student of Film Studies, from Jadavpur University. She has been a hardcore entrepreneur since childhood, and started her first venture, Excellent Word Weavers, a Content Writing Organization while she was pursuing her graduation in English. She has been working as part time content writer/blogger/editor, in several organizations including Startcup. FlimSpeak has been her dream project, which has been motivated, and inspired by Niranjan Yadav, the Founder of Switch Idea, and Startcup!

Shreejit is a final year student of Audiography, from Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute. He has been an avid film-maker, thinker and the main working force behind FilmSpeak. Being associated with numerous award winning projects, (eg: Indian Panorama, 18th Kolkata Film Festival, SAARC & National Students Film Awards etc.) as well as working as a sound designer and students project supervisor in Jadavpur University, he is also the mentor, and sound designer of Platform Nine and Half. Our major strength has been huge appreciation from the aspiring students, budding film-makers, as well as the film enthusiasts across the globe! Besides, the first major break for Platform Nine and Half, our visual team has been the screening of our short films, Telephone, Insight, Just a Dream, in Kolkata International Film Festival 2013. Platform Nine and Half also won a series of awards, in the local film competitions. We are expecting a turnover within the next few months, and hence looking for investments/business partners for gathering minimum equipments, in order to operate more smoothly.

TEAM VOICE

How does it work?

Students are able to post their concepts, ideas or even the difficulties they are facing during

their projects on FilmSpeak, which will be answered back or assisted by our team of

professionals and successful independent film-makers across the globe.

Students can also register themselves at FilmSpeak with a nominal charge (which is also

negotiable for talented students who are financially distressed), to stay updated about the

special events on independent film-making, award functions, film festivals etc. They can also

take part in a number of workshops (acting, film-making, photography or blogging), organized

by FilmSpeak, in collaboration with eminent personalities of the related fields, and the

internship programs which will benefit them significantly in the long run.

Through FilmSpeak, an aspiring student has the opportunity to interact with his favorite film-

maker or discuss about his ideas/concepts with others, and gain fruitful suggestions. At times,

we too organize crowd-funding and other necessary aids in order to make their efforts

successful.

TEAM VOICE

We want to create a platform where businesses can access intelligent workforce in a super-efficient manner.

-Apurv Agrawal, SquadRun, Shares from his Heart! He further adds:

“My most successful venture while in college was ngoFuel.org - a crowdsourcing platform to connect skilled volunteers (mostly students) with non-profits that needed basic tech help (websites, social media, etc.). Even though service based, crowdsourcing made it a super scalable model. I was exploring a startup along the themes - crowdsourcing, monetizing excess capacity of time, amazingly growing smartphone penetration in India, etc. And SquadRun was born. Kanika, a lawyer by education, who was my ex-colleague at 91springboard wanted to come onboard board as an angel investor & volunteer but eventually joined the team to lead operations. We needed someone to lead engineering efforts, so my batch-mate, Vikas jumped in!

In the INTERVIEW SESSION with MR. VISHAL SONWANE, he tells us more about the uniqueness of his

event solution firm, Erobern Events. Erobern Events, a startup, co-founded by Vishal Sonwane and Srini Chandrashekhar, Mumbai.

Q1. What is your StartUp about?

Erobern Events is an event solution firm. We excel at providing complete event assistance to colleges, Corporates and

NGOs all across Mumbai in terms of designing, printing, producing, catering, logistics and celeb management services.

Q2. Tell us about your team.

We operate via a structure that’s headed by the Core group, backed by a Semi-Core, College Ambassadors and Volunteers

in that order. The core consists of me and Srini Chandrashekhar as the Directors and Founders. Akash Vidyasagar and

Yash Kulkarni lead the Content Creation and Marketing affairs.

Q3. How is Erobern Events different from other Event Management Companies?

A majority of those involved with Erobern Events are college students; hence we are more in tune to the demands and

needs of college fests and events. This enables us to provide our services in an efficient, quick and hassle-free manner, and

gives us an advantage over our competitors. Over the past two years, we have associated with various brands/projects

through which we are able to provide logistic and production support to a number of colleges, NGOs, corporations at a

cost that’s lower than the market.

Q4. Your Facebook page says there are “Special plans for college festivals in store!” Name the coolest

amongst them.

We are thinking of long-term, as well as short-term plans. So, in the coming two years, while the team at Erobern Events

will still be completing their ongoing academic courses, we are looking to establish ourselves among all colleges across

Mumbai. For this, we have a ‘College Ambassador’ program, where we appoint our representative in various colleges,

acting as the link between the organizing committee within their college and us.

We contact the organizing committee and brief them about our services, then taking into account their budget; we design a

custom-made package for their festival/event which includes some movie promotion, celeb interaction activity free of cost

from our side.

Q5. What do you thing is the most difficult thing to accomplish when time is the problem.

Most of our clients come to us when they have tried managing the event all by themselves, and when it doesn't pan out as

per the required standards, Erobern Events is their first thought. This is usually when their event is due in weeks or even

days! We have had to get ourselves accustomed to working best in this time constraint situations over the years; we've

started excelling at it. The planning and designing part of any event is the most crucial one. Fortunately, we have a pool of

creative minds to help us tackle this issue.

Q6. What inspired you to start this venture of yours?

Behind the show work put up by the people in IPL particularly fascinated me. Then, I approached Srini, Co-Founder of the

company, and got members within my colony to set up our own cricket league, named Mahindra Premier League (MPL).

Q7. “Erobern”, is a cool name. How did this strike to your mind?

After convincing a few friends about my idea of taking organizing events seriously and forming a company, we started

looking out for a suitable name for the same. A friend, Sumeet Sancheti, who was taking classes in German, suggested

Erobern, which is the German word for ‘victory’. As it sounded catchy and went with what we wanted to achieve as a

company, we decided to register the name ‘Erobern Events’.

Q8. Your future expectations are?

We, at Erobern Events, are of the opinion that having a concrete goal simplifies things. We aim at being the leading event

solution providers for colleges, brands, NGOs and Corporations across Mumbai in the coming 3 years. We have a few

initiatives and services in the pipeline to be announced over the coming 2 months, which we believe, will help us come

closer to our goal.

Q9. What according to you is the role of social media in your venture?

Social Media has infinite potential that is yet to be fully utilized by our age group, even though we’re the ones using it.

Social Media, for us, is more than just a place to share pictures and keep up with the daily activities of our friends. We

make sure we provide updates about our various ideas and events via our Facebook page, giving us a much wider reach

than word-of-mouth publicity, and for those who like it in less than 140 characters, our Twitter handle (@erobernevents)

comes handy, especially when we need suggestions. Also, we are on our way of having an all platform mobile app against

an orthodox website.

Q10. Your tips to the budding entrepreneurs who wish to have a venture related to Event Management.

This industry is on the up, most definitely, but there are already a lot of companies that have captured a large part of the

market. As result, it becomes important to have a thorough research to know what and where the untapped section is,

before starting a venture. Also, unless you get really lucky early on, finding clients is a test of your patience. Going in with

a clear and patient mind is an absolute necessity.

Let’s Talk! Akash Shastri CEO & Founder at Brainasoft TRUE STORY | Interview with the Young & Enthusiastic Budding Entrepreneurs

What is Braina? Braina is an intelligent personal assistant software that allows you to interact with your computer using voice commands in English language. Braina is an abbreviation for Brain Artificial. The aim of the startup is to create cognitive and sentient software that can understand human language, think and learn from experience like a human brain.

How it started? Since I started using computer (I was in 4

th standard), I wanted to talk to it. I don't know how that idea suddenly strike

in my mind but I thought it would be great if a computer can talk with me as if I am talking to another person. Watching science fiction movies like Terminator increased my curiosity and passion about Robots. In 2009 end, I decided to create such software. Within 4-5 months, I created a basic prototype of Braina for Windows OS using C-language. It was quite appreciated. In 2011, Apple launched Siri for iPhone. I checked it, came to know that my software was quite better than it. I knew that Braina had a great potential but I was not able to develop it further because of my studies. I was topper in Gujarat University in BCA. After completing BCA from Xaviers, I got admission in Gujarat's best college for MCA i.e. Rollwala Computer Center. I noticed that they were teaching things which I already knew and was not able to do any creative things I wanted to do like developing Braina because of time constraints; I decided to drop out of college. I dropped out in end of 2013 and followed my dream by starting my work on Braina project. And today Braina is the world's best personal assistant for Windows PC. What can Braina do? Braina makes it possible for you to control your computer using natural language commands and makes your life easier. It can do many things as follows:

Play songs and videos by voice commands | Do mathematical calculations | Dictate in third party

software and websites | Search information and create reports on any subject | Define any word |

Open file, folder, programs and websites | Set alarm and reminders | Take notes | Show news and weather information | and much more…

What are other projects of Brainasoft? Our main aim is to do research in Artificial Intelligence and keep on upgrading Braina until it reaches human level intelligence though we also have other products such as FireCMD command prompt and Musica voice control Android app, launched recently.

Message for readers of RoughPolish I would like to convey my message to readers of Rough Polish by sharing some of my favourite quotes

“You are not accidental. Existence needs you. Without you something will be missing in existence and nobody can replace it. That's what gives you dignity, that the whole existence will miss you. The stars and sun and moon, the trees and birds and earth - everything in the universe will feel a small

place is vacant which cannot be filled by anybody except you. - OSHO

“Your time is limited; don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living the result of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other opinions drown your own

inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” - Steve Jobs

Mumbai or the "Sapno ki nagri" has one of the biggest Industries of the

world, Bollywood. Bollywood has been a place of worship for all the strugglers and beginners.

Most of the on lookers get attracted by the glamour, spark, brightness and

lavishness of Bollywood, but the reality is mind numbing.

THE LIFE OF A CELEBRITY: NOT ALL THAT GLITTERS IS GOLD

The life of celebrity may glitter but it is never the gold you think. Be happy and

enjoy your non celebrity life.

THERE IS A LOT OF DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE REEL AND THE REAL LIFE

DIFFICULT BUT FASCINATING ASPECT OF THEIR LIFE

Celebrities’ lifestyle is changing almost everything that you stand for and everything natural

about them when stardom sets in.

SUDDEN CHANGES

After years of freely walking and talking without ever sued for slander or falling , you will

suddenly asked to change the way you walk , eat ,talk even if you are not lucky enough you

name will also be changed to something appealing.

UNCOUNTABLE DISPROPOTIONATE FIGHTS

With their hands tied to their back and mouth being thickly plastered, they have no privacy at

all. Allegations are something very common for them. Just imagine being harassed and chased

by a number of photographers … how frustrating it is!!

Celebrities, detested by people whom they never met and may never meet in future makes me

wonder …. Is it really an amazing and amusing venture to be a celebrity?

Fake life - many of the celebrities cannot find their lovers, authentic

friends and cannot even sleep without having sleeping pills .WHAT IS

LIFE FOR THEM? Probably the answer is next to hell, where they have to

act from morning to evening, where one cannot be him or herself. It’s a

monotonous life right?

Even after all this Bollywood is playing a vital source of entertainment and fun in our life.

Last but not the least, the dirty picture of Bollywood comes into existence when we go through the story

of few actresses and even actors. The spite activities they have to go through in order to survive in this

so called fake dream world. It is not easy to break into big-time Bollywood if you are not born into a

powerful and influential star family.

Unless you belong to those powerful star families, people tend to take you for granted.

Life was so much simpler as a non-celebrity; I feel life should be simple even as a celebrity but society likes to complicate

everything…true words from a celebrity’s heart… “
