Five technical platforms for Compute, Data, Tools and Interoperability

Complemented by four use cases for marine meta-genomics, rare diseases, human data and plants sciences

recognized as use-cases

INB The Spanish Node of ELIXIR.

INB, founded in 2003, was modelled after the “Swiss Bioinformatics Institute”i.e. DBs/Services, Computational Infrastructure, Network of Bioinformaticians,initiatives towards developing personalized Medicine. However, there areimportant differences in terms of core funding and legal structure.

INB is a programme of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (Spanish NationalInstitute of Health) since 2013. Currently funded until 2017 as part of the PRB2platform.

INB will be the ISCIII technological bioinformatics platform during the period2018 – 2020 with two main strategic objectives.

INB/ELIXIR-ES SC1 2018 – 2020 & IMI2

o ELIXIR National Nodes will be the channel to participate at the SC1 2018 – 2020 Calls.

o Competition among ELIXIR Nodes might happen.

o ELIXIR Hub will provide support when needed. It might be specially relevant when different ELIXIR Nodes participate together.

o ELIXIR Hub will apply for high-level coordination actions.

o Spain is well positioned – specially thanks to EGA, RD-Connect & MareNostrum 4 – to actively participate at those calls.
