Field Work
2012 Classics Abroad Summer Program: Studied abroad in Rome and observed the
city’s Heritage, Architecture, and Art under the supervision of Dr. Corby Kelly, visiting
Professor at Texas Tech. The Second portion of the summer was spent in the Northern
UK assisting in the excavation of the Roman fort at Binchester alongside students from
Durham University. Here skills were developed in Total Data Station use and basic
application of Archaeological technique (i.e.: mapping, sketching, cataloguing, finds
recovery and care) under the supervision of Dr. Christoper Witmore, Associate Professor
of Classics at Texas Tech.
2013 Texas State Human Remains Recovery Course: learned proper procedures for
the handling of human remains in the field through hands on recovery excavation.
2014 Classics Abroad in Jordan: Program researching Chalcolithic/Early Bronze Age
metal working site in the Wadi Feynan region of Jordan supervised by Dr. Hannah
Friedman, Assistant Professor of Classics at Texas Tech. I developed skills in excavating
desert environment, participated in Geological Survey’s, Furthered knowledge of both
field and lab organization, and improved ability at recording and analyzing level data and
soil inclusions. This program was also heavily entrenched in cultural relationship
cultivation both off and on site as it relied heavily on the support of the indigenous
Bedouin population.
