Attention Kindergarten Students

In order to help our students transition to big school, we have staggered the start for our Kindergarten students. Students with last names beginning with letters A-L will attend school on Thursday, August 4th. Students with last names beginning with letters M-Z will attend on Friday, August 5th. All kindergarten students will attend on Monday, August 8th.

Summer Packets

Students in Kindergarten-5th grade have required summer reading and/or activities. Stop by the school if you have lost

your packet. A “COOL” treat will be given to all students turning in the assignment by Friday, August 5th.

Wow! Can you believe that it’s time for school to start back?? I hope

your family had a wonderful summer break and you are looking forward

to the 2016-2017 school year. I am excited about all of the

opportunities in store for our children this coming year at Madison

Station.

The PTO is gearing up for another memorable year and we need

your help! Joining the PTO is a great way for you to show support for

your child and to ensure he/she receives the best education possible.

You can attend PTO meetings, volunteer your time for PTO events and

support the fundraising events to help your children and our wonderful

th year of existence for Madison

Station, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY MADISON STATION! We will have lots of fun all year long! Our teachers have been busy getting ready for our first days of school. We spent two days during July for professional development. We were fortunate to have the authors of Eureka math lead our teachers in a 2-day workshop. Carpool Reminders

For the safety of all families, please adhere to the following procedures when entering our campus for

drop off or pick up. If you enter Reunion Parkway from Bozeman Road, please stay in the left lane and get in line behind the last car. Please do not pass waiting cars and then “break in line”. Please follow the line to the back of the school and drop off in the cafeteria loop. You will not be allowed to go to the front of the building. In the afternoons, please follow the same procedure. If you enter Reunion Parkway from HWY 463, please use the entrance closest to the pond, not the main entrance. You will follow the line and drop off at the front of the school. In the afternoons, please follow the same procedure except you will follow the line to the back of the school.

You asked for it, we listened, so you got it!!! The MSE PTO is excited to announce our FALL FUNDRAISERS for this school year! Students in grades 3-5 will be selling RAFFLE TICKETS for a chance to win many AMAZING prizes, and students grades K-2 will be selling the fantastic CHARLESTON WRAP gift wrap!!! Our fundraiser helps support MSE's art enrichment programs such as Kidz Art, drama classes, theater performances, a full-time art teacher, as well as teacher appreciation, science lab, fitness programs, and so much more. Please help us in our efforts to make this year's fundraising the best one yet to celebrate Madison Station's 25th anniversary!! We are one of Mississippi's top rated schools and want to do everything we can to keep it that way by giving our children everything they need to learn to their fullest potential. For their participation, your children will be rewarded with individual and classroom prize incentives and a great sense of accomplishment for having helped their school. Both sales will begin Wednesday, August 31- Wednesday, September 14th, so watch those backpacks for more information about this year's great fundraiser!

Lou Ann Morgan has been a

teacher at Madison Station for

ten years and has been a

featured artist for most of

those years. Painting is her

passion, second only to her kindergarteners!

She is a very visual person and loves color; it

makes her happy! Mrs. Morgan paints as much

as she can in her spare time. She loves to paint

scenes that have a special meaning to people.

For instance, she paints memories of the Grove

in Oxford and special places like the Mississippi

Delta. She is honored to be the MSE Artist of

the month for August.

In 1998 Madison Station created our "Arts Create Excellence" program to give our students the opportunity to learn about the arts – to learn through the arts – everyday! For 18 years now, the visual and performing arts have become an integral part of daily classroom instruction. Our school has been honored by the Mississippi Alliance for Arts Education as a School of Distinction as well as been named a Model School by the Mississippi Arts Commission. We have hosted and trained hundreds of educators from other schools across our state that wanted to emulate the great things we are doing. Our program initially operated on grants from the Mississippi Arts Commission’s Whole Schools Initiative, the US Department of Education, the Jr. Auxiliary of Madison/Ridgeland, and funding from the Madison Station PTO. As the grant money ended, the Madison Station PTO continued to add the items to its budget expenses so that our students could continue to have these opportunities. In fact, for the last 9 years the PTO alone has paid the salary (including all benefits) of our full time art teacher allowing our school to be the only elementary school in our district (and most of the state) to have a full time certified art teacher! We need your help to ensure that the arts at Madison Station continue to be strong. The administration and faculty are committed to the Arts. The PTO is equally committed to the Arts as well as providing many other resources to our school (playground upkeep, teacher appreciation, technology, etc.) All PACEsetters funds go directly to continue the arts based curriculum at Madison Station. Please take a minute to decide on your level of support for PACEsetters and use attached form. Please mail to the school or return on Meet the Teacher Night.
