Madame Verna VerspierenThis is my fourth year teaching French at Vista and my second time taking Vista students to France. This will be my 20th trip (approximately) to France. My first trip to Europe was as a high school student in 1982 with Orange County Youth Symphony, and I’ve been passionate about traveling ever since.I am delighted to give your students this opportunity.

Paris Fun Facts:Paris’s original name was Lutetia Parisiorum (called Lutèce in French), and the settlers there were Celts

known as the “Parisii.” It is commonly believed that

“Lutetia” comes from the Latin word “lutum,” meaning “mud.” So the elegant, glittering city

that we all know and love, most likely was first known as “mud

town of the Parisii.”
