Our next meeting is 10/18 from 1:15-2:30 pm.
Our first service project will be a school clean up, then we will be working on collecting candy to hand out at the
Titusville Christmas Parade and donations to fill homeless care bags: beef jerky, peanut butter crackers, granola bars, combs, deodorant,
toothbrushes, toothpaste, new men’s/women’s socks. If you would like to
donate please drop them off in the front office or send in with your child.

Mad Scientist Day

Lab Coats, Beakers and Graduated Cylinders… Oh My!
On October 31st, Oak Park Elementary will be hosting a day designated to science exploration. On this day, students will be able to dress up as Mad Scientists. No other costumes will be allowed. The sky is the limit with costume ideas; however, school board policies and dress code need to be followed. We do ask that students do not paint their faces or wear masks.
Reminder: Parent Math Night
K-5 Eureka and 6th Grade Big Ideas
You are your child’s biggest cheerleader and most essential teacher. To assist you in this crucial role,
we are holding a parent math night to help you support your child in becoming proficient in math. Join us on Thursday, October 17th from 5:00-7:00 pm to learn more about the math curriculum, en-gage in a snippet of what your student experiences in his or her daily math lessons, and learn some
basic tips that will help you understand how we teach Eureka (K-5) and Big Ideas (6th). Child care will be provided if needed.

Red Ribbon Week
Monday- “Rally in Red against Drugs.” Wear Red
Tuesday- “It’s crazy to do drugs.” Dress crazy. Acceptable: crazy hair, socks, or hat, backwards or mix matched clothing.
Wednesday- “Proud to be Drug Free.” Oak Park Eagles are proud to be drug free. School spirit day- school
shirt or school
Thursday- “Can’t hide your pride! Stomp out Drugs.” Wear your favorite animal prints.
Friday- “My character counts. I’m Drug Free!” Wear your super hero gear. Full masks and face paint are not allowed. Small masks that go around the eyes only are acceptable.
Here are some drop off reminders to help speed up the car loop, keep your children safe, and help get
everyone to class on time:
• Children should be prepared to exit the car quickly before stopping (backpacks ready,
phones and tablets put away, hugs and kisses given ).
• Pull all the way up to the front gate(s) before letting children out of the car.
• Children should exit the car towards the gate(s).
• Once children are out of the car, pull forward so that others can drop off their children
quickly.
All passengers should be in compliance with safety laws (car seats, seatbelts). The Fire Department
can provide car seats for those families who need them.
Respect the drivers behind you because every minute counts in the car loop!

Notice of PTO Nominations and Elections
The Oak Park Parent Teacher Organization would like to open nominations from the floor for
the Executive Board positions of President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Please
send nominations to Mr. Juarez at [email protected] , submit online at
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QHPGFY5 or written nominations may be delivered to the
front office to the attention of Oak Park Parent Teacher Organization. Positions will be elected
at our next regularly scheduled meeting on October 22, 2019.
President. The president shall preside over meetings of the organization and executive board, serve as the prima-ry contact for the principal, represent the organization at meetings outside the organization, serve as an ex officio
member of all committees except the nominating committee, and coordinate the work of all the officers and commit-tees so that the purpose of the organization is served.
Vice President. The vice president shall assist the president and carry out the president’s duties in his or her ab-
sence or inability to serve.
Secretary. The secretary shall keep all records of the organization, take and record minutes, prepare the agenda, handle correspondence, and send notices of meetings to the membership. The secretary also keeps a copy of the
minutes book, bylaws, rules, membership list, and any other necessary supplies, and brings them to meetings.
Treasurer. The treasurer shall receive all funds of the organization, keep an accurate record of receipts and ex-
penditures, and pay out funds in accordance with the approval of the executive board. He or she will present a fi-nancial statement at every meeting and at other times of the year when requested by the executive board and
make a full report at the end of the year.
