INFORMATIVE: TOC HIGHLIGHTS The month of June has brought efficiency and growth to the Macomb County Department of Roads Traffic Operation Center (MCDR TOC). The Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Auditing project has continued with over 540 intersections now audited and accessible in the NexGenAM system. With the successful backhaul of the camera systems in the month of May, the TOC has now been able to use new capabilities to help with the observing of traffic and special events which helps the local police authorities. As well, multiple festivals and fireworks events occurred throughout the county and the TOC was able to use cameras and intersection communications to help manage incidents and traffic. Additionally, there are four new interns that have joined the MCDR TOC family. Jonathan Baggett and Sathish Rao will be engineering interns under the AECOM umbrella while Joshua Yohannan and Amber Crumm are summer interns with MCDR. The new interns are here to learn by helping operations technicians, traffic engineers, and assisting with TOC tasks. Field/Console Reviews Completed

Service Requests By Intersection

Executed Roadway Upgrades

Compilation of the general field/console review types completed by the Traffic Operations Engineers. Field/console reviews are assigned after a public/stakeholder concern warrants an investigation.       Reviews are either conducted in the field or at an Operator console through a network connection.

Motorists and public agencies contact the TOC toprovide feedback on intersection functionality. Thismonth, the intersections where TOC engineersfocused attention to address the feedback wereVan Dyke (M‐53) at 15 Mile, Romeo Plank at 22Mile, 26 Mile at Bay River Marketplace (MeijerEntrance), Garfield at Canal and North Avenue at 23Mile.

The service requests for Van Dyke (M‐53) at 15 Milewere due to high traffic congestion in the MichiganDepartment of Transportation’s construction zone.TOC engineers kept a keen eye on the intersectionand maintained signal timings best suited for thatintersection and the associated construction trafficpatterns.

Tracks the roadway upgrades executed in Macomb County, including those done by other transportation agencies, also lists a description of the upgrade performed.

Cameras currently deployed and under Macomb County Department of Roads jurisdiction.  Cameras considered operational were available 90% of the target month.

Cameras needing maintenance were available for less than 90% of the target month. Cameras in “Standby” have not yet been integrated into TOC video wall software.

This chart measures the activityof operational cameras currentlyintegrated into TOC video wallsoftware. (See definition below.)

During the target month, theTOC added 36 cameras to beviewed on the video wall.

MCDR is undergoing an extensive upgrade of its communications system. Once this project is

completed, the TOC will have a more enhanced, reliable and robust communications network.
