Welcome to the 44th Annual Mackenzie Red Angus Bull Sale. Thank you to all of those who used genetics out of our op-eration over the last several years. We are humbled and honored that with all of the choices you have to purchase breeding bulls, you have selected our breeding program to sire the calves that generate your livelihood. We once again thank Don Heggie for joining us in this year’s sale with his outstanding group of Simmental Bulls. We will happily be working again with Frank Jenkins, Justin Keeley and Darren Shaw, all with Southern Alberta Livestock Exchange. These are a trustworthy group of professionals who all have a lifetime of experience in raising and marketing Beef Cattle. You can feel confident that these gentlemen will make the bidding process stress free. 2014 was an exciting time to be in the cattle business, cattle of all classes were marketed at levels that none of us have seen before. So far in 2015 there are several indications that this market should be here for some time. Cattle on feed reports and slaughter numbers remain at record low numbers. At the time of writing this letter the Canadian Dollar continues its descent. These signals are supportive to another great year for Canadian Cattle Producers. With high overall markets cattle in good quality large uniform groups continue to generate a premium to those that lack consistency. The Bulls on offer this year are a set that we are very proud of. They are a rugged set of yearling bulls that have been developed on a ration to exhibit their ability to perform without sacrificing lon-gevity. At no time are any of these bulls fed a creep feed. We feel that this gives us the ability to better predict the natural performance of the bulls and generate accurate data on the milk production of our cow herd. The Herd Sires that we are using are a representa-tion of our relentless pursuit of breed leading genetics. We have added a few new outcross sires both AI and walking to give our customers a few new options to choose from and to allow us as breeders to improve on the base we have started with. These have maintained our breeding philosophies and achieved the goals that we had set for them. The cowherd remains to be the factory that we have dedicated most of our lives to building. We have a strict culling program, where fertile, easy fleshing, good uddered , heavy milking, low maintenance females are the only ones who have a place in our herd. Whether you need one bull or several, you can depend on our program to offer uniformity in large groups that would be similar in type to bulls offered in previous years. They can be utilized along with your purchases from prior years to sire a uniform calf crop. Back by popular demand will be a select group of hybrid Simmental Red Angus cross bulls. Also will be a handful of Black Hided Red Gene carrier Angus bulls, which is the result of trying to add fresh new genetics to our Red Angus Program. We will continue to stand behind every bull we sell. Our business is based on repeat custom-ers.
