1. GENERAL 1.1 Scope 1.1.1 Vibration monitoring systems shall be supplied in strict accordance with: Attached Data Sheets This Specification KBR Purchasing Standard I2-1PS 1.1.2 Where special features or improvements over the standard specification are required, these shall be
specified on the Instrument Data Sheets and shall be adhered to by the Supplier. 1.2 KBR Documents, Codes, and Industry Standards The documents listed below are referenced herein and form part of the Order. The issues of KBR documents
shall be as specified in the Requisition. Applicable issues of Codes and Industry Standards are indicated below. KBR DOCUMENTS I2-1PS, "Purchasing Requirements For Instruments and Components" AMERICAN PETROLEUM INSTITUTE (API) API 670-93, "Vibration, Axial Position, and Bearing Temperature Monitoring Systems" AMERICAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS (ASME) ASME B1.20.1, "Pipe Threads, General Purpose (Inch)" NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION (NFPA) NFPA 70, "National Electrical Code" 2. DESIGN AND MATERIALS 2.1 General 2.1.1 The Supplier shall furnish a complete machinery vibration and axial position monitoring system for flush
panel mounting in the central control room in a general purpose area. The system shall include the monitor rack, power supply and monitors. The probes and oscillator-demodulators (proximitors) will be supplied by others.
2.1.2 The system shall be in strict accordance with API Standard 670-1993 Third Edition, except for the
following deviations and clarifications. a. Para. 3.4.1 - Power supply shall be 120 V +10% -15%, 60 Hz ±2 Hz AC. b. Para. 3.4.2.1 - Vibration danger relay output shall be separate from the axial position shutdown (danger)
relay output. Five relay outputs shall be provided; two anticipatory (alert), one axial position shutdown, one vibration shutdown and one circuit fault relay.
c. Para. 3.4.2.2 - The output relays shall be factory set to de-energize to alarm and de-energize to shutdown. d. Para. 3.5.1 - First out indication shall be supplied in the monitoring system. e. Para. 3.5.1.2 and 3.5.1.5 - Means for disarming shutdown shall not be furnished.

f. Para. 3.5.5.4 - The shutdown system shall require that both transducer signals reach set point to initiate shutdown.
g. Para. 3.7.2 - The grounding of the shields shall be at the monitors only. This confirms recent practice of
isolating the oscillator/demodulators and grounding signal common at the monitor. 2.1.3 The position of the monitors within the rack will be in accordance with the Instrument Data Sheet. 2.1.4 The monitors should be suitable for working with probes and oscillator-demodulators (proximitors)
mounted in a National Electrical Code (NEC) (NFPA 70) Class 1, Group B, C or D, Division 2 area. 2.1.5 Design and material not specified herein shall be in accordance with the manufacturer's standard.
